JetBlue flight attendant uses inflatable slide for dramatic job walkout

DaemonSeid 08-10-2010 12:06 PM

aw damn..I was just about to post this...LOL

Yes, this guy is awesome....LOL

"Screw you guys, I'm goin' home!"

LXA SE285 08-10-2010 12:13 PM

My two fave details: grabbing two beers on the way out and, as a commenter noted, "going home and commencing to bone."

knight_shadow 08-10-2010 12:16 PM

Haha

I hate that people decide to show their asses when dealing with people in service roles. Your experience (in this case, flight experience) is directly impacted by the folks in these roles, so why go out of your way to piss these people off?

I think the flight attendant was a little overdramatic, but shit -- sometimes it be's like that (should I add this phrase to the "words that annoy" thread? lol)

i work with the public, and fantasize (often weekly) about having some type of ridiculous, dramatic, but nonviolent outburtst... then leaving... then coming back the next day like nothing happened.

it's real out here in the streets (or apparently, in the skyways).

:(

starang21 08-10-2010 04:08 PM

the folks i feel bad for the most are the gate agents who have to tell passengers that a flight is delayed.

So apparently, he quits in dramatic fashion and is in the middle of having sex with his lover when the cops arrive. Epic.

The relevant prosecutor has said he will be pressing charges and this guy could be looking at seven years.

The relevant prosecutor apparently lacks a sense of humor - this would seem to be a fine place for a plea bargain. Maybe not on the petty theft of 2 beers - there's nothing worse than a plane that only has Heineken left - but yeah.

I was just about to post this!!! This article is funnier than the first IMO.

So what's the charge for criminal trespass?

I deal with crazy people all of the time. I use to lose it, one time I flipped a guy off with both hands. I am much calmer now but still have fantasies of shouting at clients and telling them to get the F out. I usually call the cops now when clients start acting out-they seem to behave much better with the police in the house. It seems to be getting worse every year. I don't blame this guy at all.

Agreed!

PeppyGPhiB 08-10-2010 07:53 PM

As a frequent flier, I've wanted to do the same thing on a plane soooo many times.

Ghostwriter 08-11-2010 12:49 PM

He seemed happy to be arrested according to the article. Maybe he is hoping for better/more sex in prison.

Were I the prosecutor, I'd be seeking restitution--a six-pack of whatever beer he took from the airline and then time served. Strangely though, prosecutors often do lack a sense of humor.

Yeah . . . it's almost as if there is something consistent among people who go into the prosecutor's office that might lend them toward being humorless bureaucrats hell-bent on reelection or advancement based on a 99.99% conviction rate, regardless of the circumstances. Weird.

He's my new hero. Working in the service industry can suck and I believe in always trying your best to be polite to everyone, but some customers/clients need to go to hell.

I've only had one outburst. While working in a restaurant I had a customer berate me and the rest of the staff for, as far as I could tell, being alive and in the same vicinity as she. The last straw was when I told her we were out of a certain smoothie ingredient, so I wouldn't be able to make the flavor she wanted. This angered her so that she expressed her feelings by telling me that I was a "little fucking bitch" and that she thought we (I assume "we" was the staff, but considering her attitude towards human kind in general she could've meant everyone that wasn't her) should all go "fuck ourselves" for not making sure to keep all of our ingredients stocked and that she should get a free smoothie in a different flavor since she couldn't get her favorite one. I told her I apologized, but that we could not serve her because every breath she took was a waste of oxygen, and also because she was a rancid stain and health codes prohibited those.

Fortunately it was a family owned business and since several people backed me up on her behavior and words I didn't lose my job. She actually tried to come back the next week. She was told to leave and that the police would be called if she ever came back.

Web embraces JetBlue flight attendant in NY ruckus

Quote:

NEW YORK – A folk hero in digital times, JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater has been thoroughly embraced by the Web.

Not only have news stories about his meltdown on a plane from Pittsburgh to New York City been exceptionally popular on the Internet, but he's been feted in all manner of online tribute. Even JetBlue Airways Corp. wryly noted on its blog post Wednesday that many people reacted: "Like, the entire Internet."

Slater has consistently ranked as one of the most popular topics on Twitter and has birthed a small cottage industry of Facebook pages, with titles such as "Free Steven Slater" and "I Support Steven Slater."

One group, dubbed the "Steven Slater Legal Defense Fund," is seeking to raise money for the airline veteran. More than 650 people are members of the group, which was founded by Gary Baumgardner, a pilot who pledges transparency in donating all the collections to Slater. He said he had raised more than $1,500 as of early Wednesday.

My way, the airline gets their beer back (and treble damages) and the prosecutor gets his conviction. Win-win, dammit.
