If you could do it again...RE: Clothing

So, if you had unlimited money, store options, etc. what would you wear if you could do it again?

Post an outfit/accessories for each night of recruitment at your school...you can post pictures or links.

Ready...go.

WhiteDaisy128 08-05-2010 02:21 PM

Recruitment at North Carolina State University.

Round 1: Open House (very casual - sorority members wear jeans/khakis & a t-shirt)

http://i34.tinypic.com/2wem3br.jpg

Round Two: House Tours & Philanthropy (casual - sorority members wear skirts/tops or casual dresses)

http://i37.tinypic.com/9hv0gj.jpg

Round 3: Skit Night (sundress or night skirt & top - sororities wear nice sundresses) I might be stretching it with this one...it's a little bright...but I think it would work.

http://i34.tinypic.com/2pyox82.jpg

Round 4: Preference (cocktail attire - sororities wear nice dresses - usually black with a colored accent, but there is some variation, for ex. Pi Phi wears wine & blue colored dresses).

Nordstrom - Linky to it.

FSUZeta 08-05-2010 04:40 PM

all of your choices are fabulous.

Drolefille 08-05-2010 04:42 PM

Just a question, you not only picked out clothing but photoshopped it all together with titles and subheadings and everything? O.o

FSUZeta 08-05-2010 04:43 PM

well, remember the flags she designed long ago? they were fabulous too!

It all started with all of the "what do I wear," threads popping up. I found myself searching macys, nordstrom, etc. looking for dresses, etc. to suggest...and the idea for this thread started...so I collected some things, threw them together, and posted the thread.

So yeah, the answer to your "question" is yes, I picked them out and photoshopped them together (wasn't that a little obvious?).

Oh, and my darling husband is out of town this week leaving me alone 7 months pregnant with a toddler to chase after...I had to have something to do during his nap time! :-)

DrPhil 08-05-2010 04:56 PM

Should this thread be a sticky? :)

I was honestly confused, I thought it was something you'd found already out there. I'm not telling you what to do with your time or anything.

Just wanted to let y'all know of an AMAZING website called Polyvore, that's what I used to assemble my outfits for each day...no Photoshop necessary!
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-set/...AAAEc2l6ZQ.jpg
This day doesn't actually involve meeting the sororities, just the Pi Chis and the Panhellenic Council. It's very casual, and followed by a barbecue with the other PNMs as well as the Pi Chis and Panhellenic.
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-set/...AAAEc2l6ZQ.jpg
While the two days of Ice Water Teas are casual as well, I would step it up a notch.
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-set/...AAAEc2l6ZQ.jpg
Love Lilly, of course.
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-set/...AAAEc2l6ZQ.jpg
This is a [I]long[I] day of walking...flats are a must!
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-set/...AAAEc2l6ZQ.jpg
I am in love with the Hermés bracelet!
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-set/...AAAEc2l6ZQ.jpg
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-set/...AAAEc2l6ZQ.jpg
Bid Day is casual, as PNMs are given T-shirts on arrival at their new home!

FSUZeta 08-05-2010 06:22 PM

my word....you can all go shopping for me any day!!

white daisy, would you repost your fabulous flags?

AXOrushadvisor 08-05-2010 06:33 PM

Goldsilverbronze- digging your style. All of those would work at where I volunteer at. Heck the first one would work for round 1. Cute! I'm going to go check out that site. BTW, I'm starting to think Lilly has the PERFECT sorority recruitment dresses!

The dress is "NW3 by Hobbs" from John Lewis, a British company. It can be found here

I love it too!

nittanygirl 08-05-2010 07:18 PM

:( i wish it wasn't overseas.
shipping would be ridiculous I'm sure haha

33girl 08-05-2010 07:20 PM

If I can find some 1985 Seventeen magazines and a scanner, I'll do this. LOL

(PS: I forget who said in the other thread that they had a 1969 Seventeen back to school issue but if you're not emotionally attached, it would most likely fetch beaucoup bucks on ebay.)

haaa true i guess.

DrPhil 08-05-2010 08:10 PM

This is my "can I create this look at my fav clothing boutique, Ross, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls" thread. :) I believe in dressing my best for less.

Polyvore=crack. Except I can't figure out how to post the pictures here. All I can find is blog code instead of forum code.

if you like polyvore, you'll die of happiness on looklet.com
gorgeous, gorgeous clothes.
I could spend hours on there (:

The easiest way is to right-click on the picture, open it in a new tab, and then use that as the URL for the "insert picture"

dgdramadawg 08-06-2010 01:28 AM

I wish my photoshop skills were as strong as others' skills are! Here are my clothing choices... but I'm too lazy for exact shoe and jewelry picks. Anyway, even if I had it to do over on an unlimited budget, I'd probably still end up wearing the same jewelry every day... it'd just be more expensive this time around!

ROUND ONE: ICE WATER TEAS
Since round one is still two days at UGA and it's only a bajillion degrees outside, I'd need two dresses in case the heat made one dress unwearable the next day. Both are Lauren by Ralph Lauren.

Day One:
http://images.bloomingdales.com/is/i...0.5,0&fmt=jpeg

Day Two:
http://images.bloomingdales.com/is/i...0.5,0&fmt=jpeg

ROUND TWO: HOUSE TOURS
I'd want something fun and cute that would still stand out a little, like this Sketchpad Elyse Dress by Kate Spade.

http://ksp.imageg.net/graphics/produ...291967t215.jpg

ROUND THREE: PHILANTHROPY
I'd want something bright and fun, but a little dressier than round two. I'd either go for this red and black (Go Dawgs!) one by Michael Kors:

http://www.michaelkors.com/products/mn/MK-2KN8_mn.jpg

OR this cute little party dress from The Limited:

http://www.thelimited.com/items/ltd/...274943_803.jpg

ROUND FOUR: PREFS
I'd want to stay away from a solid black dress, since so many girls seem to show up in LBDs. I just love this dress from White House Black Market:

http://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com...011_normal.jpg

BID DAY:
I'd wear this cute Michael Kors dress (which you can totally get at Macy's for $69.99). Comfy and with pockets! Sure, it's not totally white, but who cares? Recruitment is over!

Alumiyum 08-06-2010 12:42 PM

So I am now addicted to Polyvore. Thanks for introducing me. Here's my second, better take (and truly taking advantage of the if-you-had-no-budget premise).

http://inlinethumb18.webshots.com/24...425x425Q85.jpg
http://inlinethumb37.webshots.com/44...425x425Q85.jpg

http://inlinethumb52.webshots.com/46...425x425Q85.jpg
http://inlinethumb01.webshots.com/43...425x425Q85.jpg

http://inlinethumb61.webshots.com/17...425x425Q85.jpg
(On Bid Day you get a shirt from the sorority you run to...and obviously I'm working on the premise that I already knew where I was going.)

sweetmagnolia 08-06-2010 12:57 PM

I haven't even gone through recruitment yet, but if I had unlimited funds, this is the dress I would want for prefs:

Ah, the first dress! Is it from Theory? I've been ogling a dress that looks just like that for a little while.

I love everything here & also all of goldsilverbronze's first posting- except the pale green shoes for Pref Night -- I'd have to substitute something much more classic (sorry, I think that I double posted).

I think so but I don't even know because I was trying really hard not to look at any item details so I wouldn't be tempted to then go buy all this stuff.

I'm so glad I inspired your shopping! How did you find the shorts, on Polyvore? The bracelets are Juicy Couture.

goldsilverbronz 08-06-2010 08:12 PM

I'm now totally addicted to Polyvore, so I thought it would be fun to do a "trainwreck PNM" kind of ensemble of recruitment outfits...you know, maybe as a warning to PNMs. Think sequin hose--that kind of ridiculous! Anyone like that idea???

I don't like it. It's one thing to keep it positive and oooh and ahhh over all the cute ideas... we already have "what not to do" but let's be a little less superficial than to completely cut someone down because of what she's wearing.
