Hi everyone! Is anyone interested in a recruitment story from the other side??
|

Haha yes from an active's perspective. This will be my first year on the "other" side.
|
I'd love to hear it. My hubby went to the U of A for two years and I love hearing his stories. You're a Chi-O? I've driven by the house several times. It's just lovely. Most of NWA is great; my inlaws are still there so we go out there when we can.
|
yayyy! (: I've been wanting to hear about the "other side". good luck & wow those lucky PNMs!
|
Yes I'm a Chi-O! I'm really excited for rush and to do some bragging on my chapter! Haha!
I believe the schedule for rush is like the following: Aug. 15 - PNMs move into dorms. Aug. 16 - Recruitment orientation in the morning/meet with gamma chi and group. Open parties that afternoon. Aug. 17 - Open parties. Cut from 8 houses to 6. Aug. 18 - Philanthropy Day Cut from 6 houses to 4. Aug. 19 - House Tour Cut from 4 houses to 2. Aug. 20 - Pref Night Strict silence from when parties start until preference card is signed. Aug. 21 - Bid day in the Greek Theatre!!! |
I like this.
Y'all will do well this year, y'all have been tearing up rush the last several years. Edit: I'm hoping to be up there for Bid Day this year, I don't usually miss it. |
I hope so! We worked hard last year to get top grades, win Derby Days, Homecoming, and Greek Week! Hopefully our hard work will pay off with a great pledge class! But to be honest, with the amount of girls coming through this year I'm pretty confident that all or a large majority of the houses are going to get amazing girls.
|
I am in the midst of late night packing! Starting to get frantic because I leave on Saturday and have procrastinated once again. Work week officially starts on Sunday so if I find time to update during the week I will. Ohhh also something I'm sooooo excited about!!! We're granting a wish Sunday night! I am so thrilled beyond belief to be part of this experience. To actually meet the recipient and see their reaction is going to be unforgettable. I'll definitely try and update on that!!
|
Goodness sakes. Good luck hun.
Will be interested in hearing the recruitment story. |

Let's hear it for U of A recruitment!! Go Hogs!
Hootyhoo, good luck with your first experience "inside." My daughter is also experiencing her first time as an active (but down the street from you). I have tried to prepare her as best I can for the emotional turmoil of the week. Try to eat as healthily (is this a word?) as you can and drink lots of water. It's a marathon! |
I imagine Hootyhoo is locked deep inside the house learning pnm info!
I spoke with my daughter and she is exhausted and cannot believe all the work and preparation that is involved from the 'inside." She says everyone is tense and expecting panhellenic to dictate heavy cuts after round one. There is a sense of urgency to get to know the info on the pnms so they won't overlook someone. |
Round one is complete and round two takes place today. As predicted, heavy cuts were mandated for many chapters. Based on what my daughter is saying, I would say over 50% were released from some houses after round 1.
My daughter was a little stressed about those heavy cuts but was expecting them. I imagine tonight will hit her harder because things will be tougher as they continue to whittle down the list. |
Wow 50% cuts seem pretty high. I have a special pnm going thru rush her and now I am worried for her.
|
Yeah they've been locked inside pretty badly. Just excited to hear the results, wish I could get up there this year.
|
We took 104 baby hoots today!!!!! Rush was insane!!!! I will update with the full story after I get more than 4 hours of sleep at a time and tell you how it all ended up! But let's just say I will have a permanent smile plastered on my face for the next week!!!!!

I have to say this again, I love the Greek houses at U of A. When we visit my inlaws, we usually try to spend a day in Fville. I haven't seen any other Alpha chapters, so seeing the Chi O house is treat. PS My niece plans to go there in Fall 2013, and I don't know if she is interested in going through recruitment, but I hope to be able to hook her up here and with other resources. |
Quota was 102
Chi O 104 ZTA 103 AOII 102 KKG 105 |
Wow. in the hundreds. that is absolutely no good. Congrats girls.
But that's no good. |
WOW!!!! 104??? That is great...but very overwhelming to imagine! Where I come from, that's several chapters!!!!
Glad your recruitment went well! |
I am stunned and remembering the days of bed rush at Arkansas when the group could only take as many girls as they had bed space for, which was usually 25-30. The minute rush was over, the new members moved in.
|
Actually today they announced quota as 101. KD took 105 too. Today was AMAZINGGG! Literally I have never been so proud of my sorority. Every girl that we got was top notch, stunning, intelligent, and such a classy lady! I'm sooooooo excited for this year! Bid night was so much fun and I'll share more about the actual week hopefully tomorrow!

Wowweee! Quota 101! I couldn't even imagine that many girls on Bid Day...Congrats to our Psi Chapter and to all the other chapters at U of A.Even with the heavy cuts first round,it is difficult to fathom the thought of that many pnm's getting bids... Lots of happy faces finding their home.Yay!:)
|
Congrats to Psi Chapter!
And now the work begins! To welcome each new member, get to know each one, teach each one about Chi Omega and to instill the life-long honor and responsibility that it is to be a Chi Omega.
What a rich and proud heritage Chi Omega has at the University of Arkansas, but this is not a birthrite...it is a responsibility to uphold that excellence year after year. Good luck, dear Sisters. |
