I was speaking with someone the other day and I told them that I had NEVER been Trick or Treating. I'm sure many have done this before. So I thought about us formulating a list of things that are typically ORDINARY that we/others have never done...

I've Never...
1. Been Trick or Treating
2. Seen Janet Jackson in Concert
3. Seen the movie ET
4. Eaten exotic dishes
5. had a permanent tattoo (only Cracker jack tattoos)
6. taken any illegal drugs
7. drank Mountain Dew, ovaltine, chocolate milk
8. engaged in homosexual activities
9. failed a class
10. had braces
11. been arrested
12. visited Cali, the Midwest, or New York
13. worried myself with what one does or does not do

That's all I can think of now.

I'm starting to feel like I might have been a problem child because I've done most of the things that 2D and Novella haven't, with a few exceptions. But, there's still a lot that I've never done.

4. Fought over a man
5. Spent more than $10 to get into a club
6. Seen Jill Scott in concert :(
7. Been fired from any job
8. Failed a class
9. Stolen CDs from Columbia House, BMG, or etc.
10. Met a celebrity
11. Been in debt
12. Gone on a diet
13. Put anything before my relationship with God
14. Disrespected my elders
15. Raised my hand to my mother
16. Grabbed the belt while getting a whuppin
17. Been stung by a bee
18. Driven without my seatbelt on
19. Sang at a karaoke bar
20. Been so drunk that I threw up

Never watched Friends, Star Wars, The Godfather, or The Green Mile
Believe it or not, never got my hair done in the beauty shop but I have a cosmetology license along with my degree...and my hair is always done..go figure
Never had braids
Never cut all my eyebrows off and created some with eyeliner
Never fought over a man and never will
Never been in a relationship for over two years
Never sang lead in the church choir
Never been drunk
Never kissed on the first date or had a one night stand
Never caused a car accident
Never had a speeding ticket...parking tickets are a different story
Never let my friends wear my clothes or drive my car
Never eaten neckbones, pig feet, or ox tails
Never had measles
Never cut school to hang out or failed a class

Ok. back to the topic. I have a loooot in common with y'all, but I'll try to add some new ones. I've never:

been taught how to swim
been on an airplane or train
left the country
seen "The Color Purple":o
seen "Purple Rain":o
sent a letter to Santa Claus

I knew that was coming!!! LOL :D

The thought of eating an oinker has never appealed to me... When I was knee-high to a grasshoppa, my gramma was cooking some chitlins and I begged her not to make eat them. I just didn't want to, they smelled like crap. I questioned her about what was in the pot, and she - being a VERY frank woman, said "the intestines of a pig... just like you have, intestines. You know where the poo-poo comes out?" AAK!!
She told me I didn't have to eat them, but that what I didn't know was that those breakfast sausages I so loved were the from the same animal.
I never ate pork again. There is another slight trauma that happened to me, leading up to this incident, involving a half-cooked hamhock... But I won't go into that.
My mother allowed me my refusal b/c she rarely cooked it and didn't like to feed us a lot of meat (my mom's somewhat of a health 'freak' if you will). So 'Vella doesn't eat pork. Not b/c it tastes bad, I just don't want to. No pepperoni, no salami, no bologna, no souse (and I understand I used to love souse as a little one) :D
Now I am afraid to eat it TBH ... lol
I KNOW I will get indigestion.

Seems like there isn't much left. Some of you have had sheltered lifes out there. Start living a little. After all are days are not promised.

How true! It was hard to think of things I never did, that's why my list is lame. But bungee jumping and reading War & Peace are 2 others I can include.

I rented Scarface on DVD this summer. Blockbuster has it. It was my FIRST time seeing it.

I didn't know Michelle Pfiefer was in that movie.

I saw Scarface a few years ago out of curiousity. Guys act like that's the best movie in the world. It was just alright, I mean I don't see myself saying dang I wanna watch Scarface again. How did you like it?

I mean once I go to the shop I play my style for that week and I NEVER EVA wear that same style again. I have a very good stylist. Also my hair grows fast. So I can cut it short for summer and then by winter it is back down my back. Also this summer I have worn braids (always a different style) I am a hair addict. My advise is to look through hair books and don't be afraid to try different things. I am not walking around here with telephones on my head ( previous post from I think Job Pet Peeves ) but just ask your stylist to do something similar from a style you like witha touch of class.
