Crest Whitestrips

Anyone ever tried these? I bought them the other day (for $40!!!) and am hoping they work. My teeth are actually a good strong white, but I'm always hoping for even better!

They have a money back guarantee after 14 days. But that means nothing since no one ever does that and I think I already lost the receipt.

So anyway, positive experiences...negative experiences....?

:D (that is how my teeth will look in 14 days!)

josh8o 11-03-2001 02:20 AM

i did them... they kinda work, but i really did not need them either so i dont know for sure. just remember to do them everyday or else you get backed up and it gets to be a pain in the ass to sit for a hour total with them in your mouth.

aggieAXO 11-03-2001 08:25 AM

let me know how they work as i may try them out. I have been tempted to get them but i rarely go to the grocery store and when I do I have a basketfull already and adding another 40$ on to my already 200$ bill stresses me out (but of course i always have enough money to buy candles!:) )

AGDLynn 11-03-2001 10:07 AM

My brother is also my dentist (luckily, I have few teeth problems and I get free bonding, lol). Last time I was in, I asked the hygenist about them. She said that bro gave samples to his staff (5 I think) to try out. She said it worked okay, but it was like having saran wrap on your teeth. If she had given a stronger recommendation, I might have gone to buy..:D

cash78mere 11-11-2001 11:28 PM

These things really work! :D

I am so happy with how white my teeth look! I can't tell you how many people have commented on them--people who didn't even know I was using the strips!

Just 2 complaints--1) the strips are not long enough so they only whiten the very front of your smile. i have been creative and am cutting the "extra" part of the strip to put on the sides

2) damn, they make your teeth sensitive! so sensitive that being out in the cold air hurts them! but i have sensitive teeth normally (can't ever use ice in a drink!) so this just makes it worse

I'm convinced!:D

bucutie02 11-12-2001 12:15 AM

Wow, so they do work? I dont really need them, but it would be fun to try them and see the difference. I tried Rembrant once but they didnt really work and i didnt use them like I was supposed to.

Okay well you have motivated me into going and buying them :D

I've threatened to use them before my wedding, but I've also heard this complaint. How long does that last?

Well, I have really sensitive teeth to begin with. But the hurt lasts less than a day. So what I have been doing is using them every other day. It gives my teeth a break.

The mother of the girl i tutor was staring at me yesterday. Finally she blurted out "your teeth are so white!". i almost fell to the floor! so i can deal with some sensitivity because people are actually noticing!! it's such a great feeling!

bucutie02 11-12-2001 11:48 PM

I bought them today! I am such a sucker for everything out there that people are trying to sell. Hopefully it will work for me.

I just dont like how you cant wear the top and bottom strips at the same time or atleast one after another. You have to use all the top strips before you can start the bottom ones!

Anyways, I will keep you guys updated on how they work for me. :D

cash78mere 11-13-2001 07:54 PM

bucutie2-

they say that because you can return them for a refund after using the tops if they don't work but ONLY if you still have all the bottom strips. once i saw they worked, i started wearing the tops and bottoms together and it works just fine.

here's a tip --the bottom strip still has half the "stuff" still on it. cut it into 2 rectangular pieces to put on the sides of your bottom teeth. that way the sides get white too! it doesn't stay in place that well unless you keep your mouth closed, but that's not that hard for 30 minutes (well, unless you like to talk a lot!). also, for the top strips--since the sides don't get whitened, start out one day putting the strips all the way to the left side of your mouth. then the next day put it on the right side. that way it evens out and your middle teeth are covered every day.

as you can see i am a whitestrip addict! :D i have my own little systems and everything!

happy whitening!

Hey can this be a product survey page? Has anyone tried the epil stop and spray or the abtronics? (I love infomercials and have been holding myself back from trying these products) Any info. would be helpful

Karen

ZTAngel 11-14-2001 09:23 PM

if the hair is really thick, it won't work. A friend of mine tried it on his chest hair and it didn't work. But, I used it on my legs where there is thin hair and it worked ok. Grew back in two days.

bucutie02 11-15-2001 12:02 AM

cash78mere,
two questions....

1. When did you start to see the difference? I have a friend who also tried them and he said they didnt work for him so he returned the bottom strips for a refund.

2. When did your teeth start to get sensitive, or shall i say even more sensitive since you mentioned they are already sensitive as it is?

Thanks

:D Hopefully my teeth will look like this too :D

Karen,
There is a thread about infomercials in chit chat, it hasnt been recently active so you would have to do a search :)

LeslieAGD 11-15-2001 12:56 PM

I have sensitive teeth and I didn't have a problem with the crest strips. I definitely noticed a difference before the 14 days were up, but I hated that you had to start with the top teeth first because I did it religiously and then kinda got "bored" with it (aka lazy) and now my top teeth are whiter than my lower teeth. I really need to finish the box!

justamom 11-16-2001 07:11 PM

I have a bleaching tray that you can't see. I put gel in it and do experience sensitivity. The CREST product may be really strong it tingles bexause it's penetrating...I keep my tray on for hours. I can do anything except eat. I'll start getting a tingle in the lower-uncovered teeth that's when I take it out.
I have a slight root exposure from years of brushing too hard. That's the main source of the pain. That area also discolors easily with tea, coffee, wine tobacco etc. The tray bleached that area as well so the strips probably would too. Crest came to the ADA and asked them to promote it. Of course that would be a big no-no since it would be promoting CREST, but consider this, bleaching is a lucrative service of most dental practices.

aggieAXO 11-16-2001 11:10 PM

Thanks bucutie, i'll search for thre infomercial thread

hey bucutie02!

1) i noticed a difference after 5-7 days. can't remember exactly

2) they were sensitive after about the 3rd day.

bucutie02 11-17-2001 11:30 AM

My teeth starting getting sensitive early on as well, and while it was only for a couple of hours, I am now just applying the strips once a day instead of twice.

I cant really see a difference yet because my upper and lower teeth are the same and since i have only been applying the strips to my upper teeth I see no difference. Its only been like 5 days though and i forgot to wear them yesterday!

SH80er 11-19-2001 11:08 PM

Good lawd that's a lot of money!
I went to the grocery store tonight to buy some.
I thought they were like 12$, but they were 44$!

KillarneyRose 08-04-2002 12:17 AM

WOW!

I just finished my box of Crest Whitestrips and I am a true believer! My teeth weren't gross before or anything, but now they are WHITE WHITE WHITE! I'm so happy with this product I just had to share!

The best part was my friend complaining that she spent almost $600 at the dentist to have her teeth whitened and she thought mine looked better :D

chideltjen 08-04-2002 12:28 AM

i am currently using them now. i have had bad stains on my teeth since i was a kid. My dentist said it might have been from something i was given as a kid or from water i was drinking. my brother has the same problem. So i thought white strips wouldn't work because the stains were too deep and i would have to get cosmetic bleaching that would cost me a pretty penny. But at my last checkup, my hygentist suggested it. I have been kinda skipping treatments tho because, as said before, my teeth got super sensitive and my gumline got all red and irritated. I don't know why so I do maybe one a day instead of two a day. my top teeth look awesome. my bottom teeth, where most of the deep stains are... well, they look a lil better, but not by much.

SATX*APhi 08-04-2002 01:08 AM

Ahhh, I want to do this now!! My teeth aren't bad or anything, but I have this thing about having "perfect teeth." I want braces, even though my dentist tells me I am crazy!! I just want to be able to do this ~~> :D and know my teeth are BEE-A-U-TI-FUL!!

AGDLynn 08-04-2002 10:57 AM

I did try them and liked them. I don't rem any problems.

I've been having an allergy problem what I am just now finding out the cause. I had given up everything that was relatively new until I found out the cause...the derm. finally says it is a drug interaction!! Gee, why couldn't they tell me that a month ago.

Anyway...back to the original question, yes I did like the Crest strips, but I am not sure they work on bonded/capped teeth.

PM_Mama00 05-21-2003 03:01 PM

Crest White Strips

I coulda sworn there was a thread on this before but I coudln't find anything.

I just tried these for the first time today. I'm not too sure if I like them or not. I kept tasting the gel on my tongue and I didn't feel like they were staying on good. I followed the directions.

What do yall think of them?

CardinalSM 05-21-2003 03:06 PM

I used about half of my box at the end of fall semester and then saved the rest to use later. My teeth were noticeably whiter and have stayed that white up until now when I have started using them again because I have a less hectic schedule. When ever I put them on I always end up having to wipe some of the gel off of my tongue since it tastes nasty. And as soon as I take them off I rinse my mouth out to get the leftover gel out. I definitely reccomend them, they made a big difference, and now I have really white teeth :D

amycat412 05-21-2003 03:10 PM

I have them, have only used them twice though because-- I don't know if my mouth is unusually large or what, but they only cover a few teeth, ones not covered are within the teeth you see when I smile. I guess I need to use double the amount of strips, or something.

CutiePie2000 05-21-2003 03:53 PM

I have a bleaching tray, and while it works like a hot damn, I have experienced some sensitivity.
One thing...try to keep as much of the gel on the outside surface of the teeth. If you have it on the inside surface of the teeth, this can increase sensitivity.

AchtungBaby80 05-21-2003 03:57 PM

Did you all have to go to the dentist to get these trays, or what? I think that would be more comfortable than having things stuck to my teeth, since I'm used to wearing a tray (to keep me from grinding my teeth) at night anyway.

Yes, the best ones are the ones that are custom made to fit your teeth. You put a little gel in the trays & then wear them in the night time.

ToBeSororityGrl 05-21-2003 04:14 PM

has anyone tried the new strips you wear at night while you are sleeping? i was thinking they might be nice and i saw a sign that said they were only $12.99

PM_Mama00 05-21-2003 04:14 PM

Sweet I knew there was a thread out there somewhere.

Anyways I'm gona keep using them for the next week and see what happens.

Are they out already? I haven't seen them, but I want to try them.

DZHBrown 05-24-2003 08:30 PM

Has anyone tried the new Crest Night Effects? Does anyone know if there is a difference between the 2 Crest products?

volgirl2376 06-02-2003 06:30 PM

I just purchased the Crest Night Effects package today because I had a $5.00 off coupon and they are only 12 bucks so I thought what the heck - they arent strips, you paint on the stuff, let it set for 60 seconds then go to bed. I will keep everyone update on whether it works or not!

ToBeSororityGrl 06-20-2003 02:18 AM

Night Effects

If anyone has used them, what did you think?

I bought them a couple of days ago and this is my 4th night and I don't think it's staying on my teeth! I hate to admit it but I feel like i'm swallowing a bunch of this gunk! I sure hope my teeth become a little lighter but I'm starting to have some doubts

Starlet 06-20-2003 02:43 AM

I have already used up my first box of Crest Whitestrips and bought another one to use when I see that my teeth are becoming discolored again. The only thing I noticed was that my gums, which are kind of sensitive already, became slightly sensitive during one or two of the applications. But other than that, the whitestrips really worked and my teeth are noticeably better.

Before I tried them, I didn't want to get it because it was a bit costly for something that I wasn't sure was going to even work. But there's coupons out there for the whitestrips. I only spent $18 on my second box because I found a coupon and they were already on sale.

I have not used the CNE ones - I haven't even seen them on the shelves - but when I used the original Whitestrips I saw results after about 8 or 9 days.

volgirl2376 07-15-2003 08:20 PM

Ok, I forgot to report on the Night Effects. I hated that stuff!!!! Do not even think about using this stuff if you sleep in the same bed with someone. I came out of the bathroom after applying that junk and it looked like I had just eaten corn on the cob with reckless abandon! It was all gunked up in my teeth, and it was hard to "dry" your teeth off so I also felt like I ended up eating half of it or only coating half of the tooth. After two nights I threw it away.

Tonight is my first night of trying the White Strips - they were $21.99 at the store and I found a $7 off coupon in the sunday paper. I am excited about the results because it sounds like they really work!

ToBeSororityGrl 07-15-2003 11:36 PM

Ditto to that! I quit using after a week. I was getting a little sick of swallowing the stuff all night
