Excuse Me Katy Perry!

We do not wear Daisy Dukes in California. This isn't Texas or The Dukes of Hazard. No Yeehaws from Laguna Beach!

Oh and don't mess with the Gaga when you are trying to be her!!

NinjaPoodle 06-26-2010 10:02 PM

LOL...

DrPhil 06-26-2010 10:02 PM

Then just call them "really short shorts." People wear them all over the country. Happy now? :)

I don't see where Katy Perry is trying to be Gaga. I see where Gaga is trying to be a really obnoxious version of Madonna. Even Madonna wasn't that obnoxious in her younger days and I don't think she ever stooped to Gaga's level of letting her dumbness override her talent.

I was thinking something along those lines too. Oh well, a new modified Madonna for a new generation.

christiangirl 06-26-2010 11:22 PM

^^^That is decidedly unfortunate.

OP: However, we are fine, fresh, AND fierce. And we do have it on lock. So all in all, the song balances out.

DrPhil 06-27-2010 12:01 AM

Hallelujah and Amen!!!

Did she fall by accident or on purpose? The world may never know.

Dundun...dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.....

calilicious 06-27-2010 12:05 AM

Christina with the heart on her va jay jay and Katy with the whip cream shooters on her breasts. That is copying Gaga wild style because it is the trend now. They are short shorts but only in like Texas or far from CA do they say Daisy Dukes. The image of Daisy Dukes is different from short shorts.

KSUViolet06 06-27-2010 12:13 AM

Gaga = mediocre singer made weird by label because mediocre doesn't sell a ton of records.

Similar to a Madonna.

Add weird = more people buying records.

Also, "Alejandro" sounds exactly like several Ace of Base songs. lol. Total ripoff.

PiKA2001 06-27-2010 12:47 AM

Funny, I was just talking about how Lady Gaga is a rip-off of several lesser known acts, Fischerspooner one of them.

calilicious 06-27-2010 02:06 AM

She copied Madonna's outfit and even used her producer! Katy Perry is trying to copy her but started a tweet fight with her so it is just like go away now.

Fail

Sorry to fail you, but Gaga as a singer isn't Mediocre. As an artist yes.

Unfortunately her choice to be mediocre is a testimony to both the music industry and the people who buy her music.

She chooses to be mediocre because she knows the formula.

33girl 06-27-2010 12:07 PM

No one made Madonna "weird." She was simply doing her own thing after years of folkie-type women singers. The first time I heard her I was blown away - she was a breath of fresh air. And that was hearing her WITHOUT benefit of visuals.

That video BluPhire put up depresses me, just because it shows how much she's squandering her talent. I hope "Stef" takes a cue from Christina Aguilera and gets out of this hole her record company has stuffed her into, but it seems as though she may want fame/infamy more than musical integrity.

YES! none of my friends believed me when I kept saying, "I swear this sounds like a song straight from the 90's." I, however, couldn't remember what artist had similar tracks, but thanks to you, I can now show my friends exactly what I meant. :)

I'm bad about keeping up with "popular" music, so I didn't even realize that was Gaga until just now. I heard that song while I was flipping through the radio and literally thought "Huh...when did Ace of Base get back together" and then didn't think anything else of it. LOL!

DrPhil 06-27-2010 02:45 PM

That reminds me of how 50Cent (I hate him) admitted that his mainstream lyrics are sucky because that's what the public buys. They don't want to hear REAL hip hop with REAL emcees and the stuff that emcees do for mix tapes. The REAL hip hop with REAL emcees don't make money.
(I only like the REAL hip hop with REAL emcees who don't make money...I won't spend my money on anything less.)

Yeah the first time I saw the video, my mouth dropped. It took me a couple of times listening for me to believe it.

If that depressed you, let me push a little more to the edge.

Her first EP before the Gaga Tranformation.

And there are more if you google on youtube (people have been posting her old EP now that she is Gaga.)

Like I said, this is more of an indictment on the Record industry, and pop music, and the fans who eat it up.

Talent doesn't make money.

DrPhil 06-27-2010 06:18 PM

Entertainment makes the ENTERTAINMENT industry. If she wasn't entertaining as her raw talent, her powers that be should've figured out a way to make her talent and image work.

I think of singers like Alicia Keys (who I don't really like). I respect that she's basically remained true to form. She's basically the same way now as she was when I saw her when she was like 14 years old on BET's Teen Summit. Good for her and her powers that be.

Did I already mention that Rihanna and her transformation annoy me? LOL. I think I did. I like some of her songs but refuse to actually LOOK at her and see her videos. She looks DUMB.

I went through an Ace of Base phase (I had broken up with my long-term bf - "The Sign" was totally my theme song). The first time I heard this song on the radio (I caught only part of it), I thought the AOB had returned.

I guess I don't "get" Lady Gaga. Her gimmick is just a bit too much for me, you know? Maybe it's because I'm old now.

No one made him or Gaga sell out, they chose to value the money and fame more than their credibility as artists. I mostly listen to indie music, and I can't for the life of me understand why people listen to Gaga, Perry, Nickleback, etc.

carynie13 06-27-2010 11:28 PM

While I do understand where everyone is coming from, I do still feel like Gaga is a great artist. She's a very talented songwriter, writing for Britney Spears, Michael Bolton, and Adam Lambert, and while her image is quite extreme, that's exactly what has always sold in the music industry. Madonna broke boundaries with her songs and appearance, Britney and Christina did the same in their young careers. Gaga's songs might not always be deep, but they are catchy and top charts because of that. And although she is clearly influenced by these other pop stars, Gaga is a character all her own. She's pushed the boundaries even further than they had been before, but that's what is required in the music industry if you want to really achieve pop stardom. I hope that Gaga does do an album that throws back to her early career, as I do think she has great vocals and amazing skills on the piano, but until then, I'm going to keep listening (and dancing) to her fun, pop hits.
