True Blood S3

Anyone else out there True Blood fans? Looking very forward to S3 starting up. HBO has S1 & 2 on "on demand".

ColdInCanada11 06-06-2010 08:52 PM

Yeah, Im getting pretty anxious for S3 to start up. True Blood is no Being Human but still one of the best shows on tv. Anyone read the series?

AGDee 06-07-2010 06:50 AM

I'm so glad it's coming back on. The timing is perfect because there's nothing on TV right now!

I know thats the only good thing about it taking so long to come back.
I'm so excited, I've already watched the 6 minisodes on the HBO webiste that shows what everyone did after the killing in the last ep of season 2. I read the books and I'm hoping the minisodes are simliar to her book of shorts where she sort of fills in some blanks. Otherwise I just watched the majority of the 1st ep. :o

IrishLake 06-07-2010 11:00 AM

i missed the miniepisodes! i will have to look for them. i love the show and the books. i've yet to read the new book, i'm on the waiting list at my library.

ree-Xi 06-07-2010 11:02 AM

Waiting anxiously!!

I edited that post, the minisodes are on the hbo site... what's the new book?! How did I miss its release?

ETA: found it! Going to get it promptly, it will give me my fix until next week :)

IrishLake 06-07-2010 11:10 AM

Dead in the Family came out last month. :)

ColdInCanada11 06-07-2010 11:36 AM

I haven't read Dead in the Family yet, hopefully it's as good as the rest!!

PiKA2001 06-07-2010 05:15 PM

I recently got season two on blu Ray and am watching it in prep of season three. I didn't know they had mini episodes online, I'll have to check em out. I enjoyed book three so I'm interested in seeing how closely they follow the storyline. Judging from what previews I've seen it seems that Alcide is going to be a character, I think Claudette and Claude show up in the third book as well.

ASUADPi 06-07-2010 08:25 PM

Can I just see some Sookie and Eric action. LOL.

Wait, can I just see Alexander Skarsgaard (Eric) topless more often!

PiKA2001 06-15-2010 10:05 PM

So what'd you guys think? I like how the show seems to be switching lanes from the book with Sophie Ann selling V via Eric and the whole Jessica/Hoyt sub plot. I find myself liking the show better than the books because it's not as Sookie-centric.

IrishLake 06-15-2010 11:01 PM

I still like it, even though it's not following the books storyline to a T. I'm glad they didn't kill off Lafayette like in the books. Sophie Ann bugs the crap out of me on the show, though. Not how I imagined her at all.

I can't wait for the Weres to come into the picture all the way!

ColdInCanada11 06-15-2010 11:08 PM

To be honest, I was disappointed with the premier. Ditto on Sophie Anne, I pictured her being completely different. I also thought the Bill/Sam thing to be really off... Hopefully, the season picks up!

tinytina10 06-15-2010 11:18 PM

LOVED IT! not to mentioned my boyfriend was psyched about the introduction of the wolves... :)

Quick question, dont mean to change subject but after seeing season 1 I started reading Dead Until Dark and found that the show stays VERY true to the book... so for anyone who has read more of the books - does it continue to follow so closely? I don't know what I'd rather do...spoil the suspense of the show by reading ahead in the books or spoil the suspense of the books by reading them after the show?! lol oh the dilemna!

ColdInCanada11 06-15-2010 11:22 PM

It stays fairly close to the books, until the third season, and even then, it's not so different you wouldn't recognise it.

sorry - submitted my question before refreshing the screen. That pretty much answers my question!

Sooo from how it sounds I might be surprised either way...? :)

YEah, the first book and season one are pretty spot on, same with the Living Dead in Dallas and season two, minus the huge MaryAnne storyline in season two. I hope that the following seasons deviate somewhat more because after the fifth book shit just gets too out there for my tastes.

ASUADPi 06-16-2010 08:11 AM

I just want Eric and Sookie together. LOL.

*Covering eyes and yelling LALALALA* I don't want to read spoilers!!

DiamondAthena 06-16-2010 12:35 PM

I read Dead in the Family in two days right before season 3 aired, I am so far ahead it was kinda hard to get back into the on screen storyline.... BUT I'M BACK! :) I was kind of disappointed with the premiere too but I liked the last one. No spoilers but that dream sequence with Sam had me like WTF!!!!

AGDee 06-27-2010 10:02 PM

The more I watch this, the more I wonder "Why do I watch this and why can't I stop?" It's just so bizarre yet so compelling at the same time.

RaggedyAnn 06-28-2010 07:33 AM

I had free HBO this weekend, so I caught up on a lot of season 2 yesterday. Thank goodness I have an open floor plan, so I could do other things while watching it.

Phrozen1ne 06-28-2010 10:08 AM

Sooo.....how about that sex scene and the end of episode 3 season 3.:confused:

um ewww lol

IrishLake 06-28-2010 09:08 PM

i'm watching now since i missed it last night. should i fast forward through the end? lol...

tinytina10 06-28-2010 09:55 PM

I spent so much time hating Eric during s1 and most of s2 BUT after sunday's episode I'm kinda falling in love.

One thing that will never change-my burning hatred for Lorena...end of e3?! My boyfriend and I watch the show every week with 2 other couples and I wish someone could have snapped a picture of our faces as that all was happening

IrishLake 06-28-2010 10:19 PM

I've read all the books now, and I love Eric much more than Bill, in the show and the books. DAMN they made Alcide HOT in the show... not how I pictured him in my mind, but I like! I can deal with all sorts of male eye candy. :)

ZetaGirl22 06-29-2010 12:23 AM

Alcide is just how I pictured him :) And I was "ewwww" to the whole Bill/Lorena thing too, even if its pretty close to what happens in the book. Calvin Norris was just like I pictured him too, even though I'm kinda irked they made Hotshot into a bunch of meth heads. Calvin is one of my fave characters. In the books, Calvin is the only one of them that has a steady job and is just described as "a good guy" and in the show his house is a meth lab LOL!

IrishLake 06-29-2010 12:41 AM

Cal is pretty much how I pictured him too. I can't wait for future seasons and how (if?) they incorporate the witches and fae!

Hmmm. I foresee the show straying more and more from the books as time goes by, as evident already ( Not to post any spoilers) . I really hope they leave the whole Fae thing out of the show.

tinytina10 07-14-2010 12:27 AM

Reading the comments comparing the books to the show got me much more interested in picking the books back up and so I finished Club Dead last night. While I was reading I was sort of analyzing the characters and comparing them to how they were portrayed on the show. Eric really stood out to me and I was curious to see what yall thought.

On the show he seems like this oh-so-powerful, super serious and extremely desirable vampire void of all human emotion (minus the whole Godrick thing). I know he makes it clear that he wants Sookie, but he stays so cool about it.

In the books I feel like he almost gets a little desperate when it comes to Sookie and he seems a lot more emotionally invested (kinda a bit of a dork sometimes). I guess I just can't see him on the show saying some of the things he does in the book.

Possible Explanations I thought of:
-maybe this season he will go through some major character development and gain back some humanity
-maybe they just wanted to make him edgier for the show
-or maybe I just have a huge crush on Alexander Skarsgård (definitely the correct answer)

PiKA2001 07-14-2010 12:45 AM

Tina- Eric is kind of turning into a bitch this season compared to the first two seasons.

you took the words right out of my mouth - not to mention the whole flying and hovering outside the window thing was kinda corny to me.

He does that in the books though.

tinytina10 07-14-2010 03:31 AM

yeah i know, I guess its just that typical reaction when a show/movie is based on a book. You picture it one way when you read it and more often than not seeing it on screen doesn't do it justice (mostly just bc it wasn't how you pictured it).

On a completely different note, I might cry if anything ever happens to Alcide.

I picked up Dead to the World on my way home today...I'm hooked.

lol. The first couple books are good ways to pass time, but the series get stupid after book 5 (I think). Alcide is safe.

IrishLake 07-14-2010 08:06 PM

They're quick easy reads, and not as porny as Anita Blake books. I'll keep on getting them from the library. :)

PS, I don't care for the whole Sam storyline right now, with his newly found biological family. I hope they end this subplot quickly.

Phrozen1ne 07-21-2010 07:09 PM

I think season 3 is good so far. Every episode seems action packed. I think I want to read the books too.
