Kobe vs Bird vs MJ vs Magic

In their prime, who would you like to build your team around?

Drolefille 06-02-2010 10:40 PM

Jordan, for no reason other than I grew up when he was playing. I wouldn't know how to begin to really compare the four.

DrPhil 06-02-2010 10:42 PM

I'm insulted that you put Kobe in the same sentence as those legends.

1. Magic
2. Bird
3. MJ

DaemonSeid 06-02-2010 11:09 PM

MJ. Six rings no whine. The end

lovespink88 06-03-2010 12:16 AM

Michael Jordan for sure.

The watching the 90s Bulls with my cousins as a kid is a favorite childhood memory. :)

Um, how can you put Jordan last? Are you talking pre-comeback or comeback? Oh and how do you put Bird before Doctor J? and why isn't he on the list? Afterall Dr J made the slam dunk the thing to do. Kobe, Magic, MJ, and others have him to thank for that and making basketball overall that much more exciting.

Doctor J wasn't an option for this thread. :) I left Kobe off my list because he sucks. I should've replaced the overrated Kobe with Doctor J.

MJ is last because I'm an old school Lakers and Celtics fan. I would've put James Worthy and Danny Ainge for thrreeeeeeeeeeee up there if I could've. :)

In their prime,

1 Magic -had to ability to get whole team involved, could dominate the game w/out the ball.

2 MJ - offensive, defensive tenacity, tremendous talent

3 Bird - best clutch shooter I ever saw. period.

Animate 06-22-2010 03:36 PM

Key word: In their prime.

Magic all day.

Of course in their prime... You wouldn't try to build a team around them right now, would you? Even if they could still beat the Clippers, they're too old and out of shape. :p

As a SoCal born Celtics fan and Laker hater, I would even have to put Magic first. He knew how to lead and drive his team. Bird second, and in all honesty, I'd put someone else before Jordan. He was and still is the most overrated of the greats. The Kobe of the 80s and 90s, just without the free pass on fouls.

I hate Kobe Bryant so much and am appalled that "The Kobe of the 80s and 90s" is an actual phrase.

Gag me with a damn spoon.

WaxOff 06-23-2010 05:51 PM

To clarify, MJ may have won 6 rings, but how many of them were won by stellar play from Rodman, Pippen, or Kukoc? How many of them without?

For the longest time, they said Kobe couldn't win without Shaq. That was true until they got Fisher back and then made that underhanded trade for Gasol.

Jackson coached the Bulls back then the same way he coaches the Lakers now. Kobe/Jordan scores 30+ points while the rest of the team does nothing. It's only when the other teammates are more involved that they get the win.

I agree and that's how it should be. There are few things more boring than seeing a one player team.

Michael Jordan hands down.
