Now that Lost and 24 are done...rank your top 5 complete TV series to date

Now that the tale has been told, I was really hoping to say that Lost was my favorite series of all time. But for various reasons, it fell short compared to other shows I've watched in my lifetime. I think now might be a good time for all of us to rank our top 5 TV series so far.

Only rule here is it has to be a complete television series. Shows that are still putting out new episodes or haven't gotten a confirmed cancellation can not be counted. Cancelled series are eligible.

Mine would probably go:

Battlestar Galactica (re-imagined)
Rome
Star Trek: TNG
Band of Brothers
I kinda wanna say 24 but Pushing Daisies was another fave of mine which needed one more season!

Senusret I 05-26-2010 04:38 PM

The Wire
Lost
Dark Shadows (1991) (don't judge me)
Friday the 13th
Six Feet Under

I haven't finished watching, but I am enjoying The Prisoner (original).

Totally forgot all about 1991 Dark Shadows...another show ahead of its time...it would do so well right now.

Speaking of vampires, I wonder what the hell Anne Rice is waiting on?

Didn't she find Jesus and renounce her previous novels?

ThetaDancer 05-26-2010 04:45 PM

2) Arrested Development
3) Sopranos

Animate 05-26-2010 04:56 PM

She did, then she realized that religious novels don't sell nearly as well as Ann Rice vampire novels and is writing another vampire novel that deals with Lestat finding Jesus... or something.

That's what I heard last at least.

LMAO

That'll do it.

srmom 05-26-2010 05:17 PM

Battlestar Galactica - then some others...

I still watch the seasons periodically. I think it is the best show that has been on in years.

Drolefille 05-26-2010 05:18 PM

Firefly. It still hurts too bad. I can't list anymore.

BROWNCOATS FOREVER *SOB*

Don't know whether this one fits but I liked the "Horatio Hornblower" series on A&E.

Didn't she write some really graphic porn novel years past under a psuedonym of A. Roqularue or something like that? Does anyone remember it?

A. N. Roquelaure

In particular some erotic Sleeping Beauty novels that I have sitting in audiobook format on my computer. No idea if they're good or not.

txpacer 05-27-2010 01:53 PM

Firefly
Lost
Friends
Seinfeld
Pushing Daisies...and since that isn't really complete...Alias!

lovespink88 05-27-2010 02:04 PM

Scrubs

I wish I could list Twin Peaks but season two just ruined the series for me. If it had been a mini series and ended after Lauras killer was revealed it would have been number one on my list.

Arrested Developement
Star Trek TNG
Strangers With Candy
Tales from the Crypt- HBO
Seinfeld

That's it. I found it in our public library and read a page or two and it is really really explicit. Some truly yucky stuff.

No wonder she found God. She was going straight to hell for these books. :D

^^^Back to the thread.

Sounds kind of like Briar Rose by Coover, definetly not Disney approved! Never could get into the vampire chronicles myself but her sons first book wasn't too bad.

Now you're speaking my language! :D

Shows that I wish had just continued. IMO this was the last era where TV was just awesome:
1. The Cosby Show
2. A Different World
3. Living Single
4. Fresh Prince
5. Boy Meets World (this one had the best finale of the 5 IMO)

Shows that were cancelled at the WORST possible place to leave off:
1. Family Matters (left off right before the big Laura/Steve wedding--NOT FAIR)
2. Popular (left off just as one of the main characters was about to get hit by a car)
3. Moesha (we never found out who was pregnant or if the kidnaped brother was found)

sigtau305 05-30-2010 06:45 PM

1.) Star Trek
2.) Cosby Show
3.) Law & Order ( Original and SVU)
4.) Different World
5.) Tied- Dr. Who and Batman: The Animated Series

FSUZeta 05-30-2010 08:04 PM

garth- dr. who is still on the bbc america channel. it comes on saturday nights-a new doctor just took over.

I love this series....i've it for a while now....7 years at least...very erotic, I don't find it yucky at all...but it you are not into the groupings....then perhaps it is yucky.

They're OK for a little while but you can only read about being tied up and suspended from the ceiling so many times. Roberta Latow's books are much better if you can find them.

Anyway, back to TV shows:

The Odd Couple
WKRP in Cincinnati
TV Funhouse
The Jetsons (the original series from the 60s only, obviously)
Seinfeld (minus the truly awful final episode)

Ditto PiKA2001's comment on Twin Peaks. Heather Graham, go away now.

I loved Felicity when it was on but I find myself completely emotionally incapable of rewatching it. Same with Melrose Place.

Nah you can read about it a lot. I'm actually a huge fan of Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series, which is less about the suspended from ceiling and more about the whipping. (Oh yes and a good plot too, it's not really a an erotic novel but a series of novels that treats sex really openly.)

Anyway I'll look up Latow. ;) Y'all can go back to TV.
