Video Games anyone?

Anyone else consider themselves a gamer?

I currently own a PS3, Wii, PS2, and a original DS is hiding somewhere in my possession.

I just got Super Mario Galaxy 2 yesterday and looking forward to popping it open when I get home. I'll be getting Modnation Racers tomorrow.

Currently tying up some extras stuff on Final Fantasy XIII with some Super Street Fighter IV thrown in there.

If you haven't played it I suggest you to check out Super Mario Bros Wii(Wii duh) and Little Big Planet(PS3). Great games!

Modnation Racers is like a Little Big Planet meets Mario Kart type of thing.

What are people playing?

Senusret I 05-24-2010 04:06 PM

I'm just playing Wii right now -- I downloaded a bunch of virtual console games. My Classic Controller just came in last week and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past has been whippin my ass for old time's sake.

I had a Wii Warming instead of a house warming :)

Question: I bought two GameCube games at a yard sale (unopened) and while the games come on in the Wii, it seems like it is not recognizing the controller. Is there a controller other than Classic that I should be using for GameCube games?

jessica.lanelle 05-24-2010 04:06 PM

I would not consider myself a gamer @ all, but I really like Super Mario Bros Wii! I only bought a Wii so I could play We Cheer, Silent Hill, and the old games like Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World.

Xylochick216 05-24-2010 04:19 PM

I just bought Mario Galaxy 2 yesterday and I'm on world 3 (but I haven't gotten all the stars along the way). I loved the first one, and this one is like a big continuation of #1.

Oh Legend of Zelda, how I love you.

Not sure why it's not recognizing the controllers, done a Google on it? Gamers seem to find every bug/glitch/workaround to most of those issues.

I own a Wii myself, although I haven't played much, I'm big into World of Warcraft and other MMORPGs though. If I had steady income I'd try the new Star Trek: Online among others. Well, if I had a steady income and my thesis was complete!

The GameCube controllers should work with your Wii, because there is a place for you to plug them in. Maybe try restarting your Wii with the GameCube controller already plugged in and see if that works? I'm not entirely sure, but maybe (this idea just came to me) you can't use the controllers until you're in the game itself. I shall try at work (I work in a new video game arcade-type thing).

I just brought HeartGold and SoulSilver from home, and I need boyfriend to start up his so that I can cheat and get all three starter-type pokemon mwahaha.
Also I can't wait for NEW NEW NEW pokemon hopefully next year. The teasers are KILLING MEEEE. Bf just got Red Dead Redemption and he's loving it so far, but is STILL obsessed with Borderlands. He's pretty much been playing non-stop for over a week now, because of the new expansion pack.

Woot a fellow WoW player! I've been playing since shortly after realese. Blizzard pretty much owns my soul somehow. For the Horde...and maybe Alliance once Cataclysm hits for a Worgen.

Uh oh, Draenei hunter's my main and I'm Ally through and through. We must be enemies now :p

I started in BC (obv since I play Draenei) but I'm hooked.

PrettyBoy 05-25-2010 08:13 AM

NASCAR, and Forza Motorsport 2 and 3. I was playing Need for Speed Shift, and Grid. I don't play NFS or Grid as much anymore, because there are no pitstops, which makes the gameplay unrealistic. That's the only way I'm playing a driving sim, if it's realistic. It sucks if I happen to crash just enough to mess up the steering, but yet there are no pits for repair. What's the point of playing, then?

NASCAR and Forza have it all, though. I still wish Forza showed the pit crew during pitstops, like NASCAR does.

1stSoon2BePhD 05-25-2010 01:38 PM

I have a Wii. I don't play anything hardcore:

- Super Smash Brothers Brawl (classic)
- Super Paper Mario (this game is really good!)
- A Boy and his Blob (...and this one too!)

I have also been playing DDR since high school so I have DDR for Wii as well :)

I'll let you pass. My original characters were Night Elves...and a hunter at that. You couldn't pay me to seriously play a hunter these days. I don't like the playstyle of ranged dps for some reason, although I do have a baby mage and a baby hunter. My warlock has been regulated to bank alt duty.

I need to level a druid so that I can have all 4 healing classes.

DaemonSeid 05-25-2010 05:11 PM

all of the Wii players...get a real gaming system....LOL

going upstairs to see if he can talk her into Super Mario Galaxy 2 so they can play together.

The couple that games together stays together....LOL

Heh, I'm hunter extraordinaire. But I also play a healadin who tanks in her spare time. (Dwarf female no less). I have a DK I hate and then an assortment of lowbies. I'm not so good at melee DPS and I hate leveling clothies so I'm kind of stuck atm. I intend to have a worgen priest though, just because.

Ha! This is so true. My gf pretty much didn't play any game I had except for guitar hero; and then I got Super Street Fighter 4. Gosh I can get away with gaming in her presence now! She does like the games I have on my Wii though, which comes to a grand total of 3 now lol.

DaemonSeid 05-25-2010 06:07 PM

She will watch me play a game, like Friday night she checked out Alan Wake but sometimes I have to really convince her to check a few out...like now she is playing Heavy Rain completely on her own without my help and I told her it should be that way because the endings that we get will be different based on what we do.

That's cool, because that gives me plenty of time to play some of my driving sims that I haven't started playing yet. That's the thing about driving sims, is they take a long time to complete, especially when you set it to race full length races like I do.

I've been playing DDR/ITG2 for about 7 years now, last 4 or so more seriously.

Animate 06-22-2010 12:46 PM

I need an intervention. Since the week before Memorial day I have gotten 7 games...

Super Mario Galaxy 2
Modnation Racers
God of War 1&2 remake
God of War 3
Uncharted
Uncharted 2
Final Fantasy 9 on PSN.

Everything from the God of War stuff down was purchased over 3 days...I did trade in some games for them though.

Drolefille 06-22-2010 12:47 PM

Ok you're crazy :p

I'm jealous.

DaemonSeid 06-22-2010 01:37 PM

jeez that's a lot of gaming. I got stuff I need to trade in!

Recently updated the computer... installed brand new video card/processor, etc.

Kept my old power supply. Tried to set Crysis to max settings, computer just turned off.

Time for a new power supply.

Yup... 500 watts or more will do.

What kind of video card did you get?

Also, how much ram do you have and what OS are you running?

lovespink88 06-22-2010 02:10 PM

Fun thread!

My brother has 360, but the only thing I play there is Beatles Rock Band. My fiance's family just got a Wii, so we've been playing every time I'm at his house lol We're definitely going to have to get one for ourselves when we move in together!

I won't lie though, I still have N64 and even my Super Nintendo hooked up. I mean, I don't play them all the time, but I do randomly get in the mood for some Super Street Fighter or NBA Jam (BOOMSHAKALAKA!!)

PiKA2001 06-22-2010 03:14 PM

Anyone have a membership with GameFly? If so, do you like it/think it's worth it?
