Anyone interested in a recruitment story?
Hey ladies, just wondering if anyone was interested in my recruitment story from Miami University? You can search my other posts-there IS a happy ending. :) Let me know, some of the recruitment stories here are hilarious, addicting, and beyond
Edit: Not a retro story, it's from last year! |
sure!

YES I'd love to hear some fresh recruitemnt stories to gear me up for my upcoming recruitment :)

Hey! I didn’t know the proper asking etiquette, so thanks for filling me in ;).
And ok! I will write my story up. This is going to be fun! I’m a Phi Mu legacy, so I was really excited to meet them. Since recruitment is in the spring, I had a whole semester to meet and become friends with lots of sorority women. I became friends with a lot of girls in Pi Phi, AXO, and Phi Mu. They sort of gave me the 411 to recruitment so I got together recs, and outfits, and grades, and just made sure I was prepared overall, ya know? Anyway during the days that we visited all the sororities, I connected with pretty much every sorority. There’s really always something to talk about and most everyone is nice, so I just had fun with it. My favorites were AXO, DZ, Theta, Phi Mu, Pi Phi, and ZTA. I felt like I fit in with these well. I liked all the sororities, though. When I got my first schedule back, I had AXO, DZ, Phi Mu, Pi Phi, and AOPi. I was kind of hurt that I didn’t have that many and so many sororities had cut me right off the bat. I had a lot of my favorites though, so that was great. |
more, more!

During the next round of parties, I really just tried to meet and connect with as many girls as I could, so I would have a clearer idea of where I might end up. Absolutely loved AXO. They seemed so great. Pi phi was great too. I felt like I would have tons of opportunities in this group. Everyone at AOPi was nice. I didn't "click" with the girl I talked to, but it was just one girl. I'm sure there are girls in Pi Phi and AXO that I wouldn't "click" with. Then Phi Mu. Oh Phi Mu. I pretty much fell head over heels in love here. I loved everything about them. I felt the same about DZ. I absolutely loved them and everything they stood for. I knew I would be proud to wear DZ letters. ;)

gotta love an Ohio story. ;)

I have to admit, as a Phi Mu, this gets me excited to hear a legacy story. Even if you didn't end up Phi Mu, Miami University has some great organizations and every sorority you mentioned is great in its own way! Keep coming with the story!

^^ That's adorable!

My next invites were for Pi Phi, AXO, and DZ. I shed a tear over Phi Mu, but I loved my 3 invites. I was just nervous that my numbers would continue to deteriorate and I would eventually be released from recruitment.
|
umm i just wana know where you ended up already! lol i hate the suspense
|
Based on the recent events at MU, I'm hoping for Alpha Chi or DZ.
|
I was really, REALLY lucky that my 3 invites stayed all through to pref. Being able to pref at 3 chapters made me a lot more confident that I might get a bid compared to my lower numbers throughout the week, but as everyone says, it only takes one!
AXO - I love these girls. They are hilarious and I know that being an Alpha Chi would be filled with so many fun times. This was going to be such a hard decision. Pi Phi - Pi Phi was amazing. I knew that being in Pi Phi, my world would change 180 for the better. I knew that I would be continually bettering myself in this sorority among so many fabulous other women. DZ - I felt like DZ had been made for me. Specially ordered with me in mind. I loved all the girls and knew it was right. Everything about this party clicked and I was just so happy. I ranked all three chapters on my pref card and on bid day, happily accepted my bid to my first choice, DELTA ZETA!!! I love DZ sooo much and so happy to be a part of this special sisterhood that I have. It is also nice to brag about being part of the Alpha chapter:p I love the Miami Panhellenic community and have great friends in many of the sororites (yes-even the ones that cut me too!) My story was short and not too descriptive but I hope you enjoyed it! |
Congrats on being a DZ. Both my daughters were members of Delta Zeta.

what a wonderful story!! congratulations.

Right right, so I suppose the moral of my story is:
1) Don't be discouraged if you don't get so many invites right off the bat. You only need 1. 2) If you have deferred rush, take the time to make friends with girls in sororities! I cannot stress this enough. I think this really helps you in recruitment! 3) Get recs, have good grades, look great, and feel great! Be the best version of yourself. 4) Have fun and have faith in the system. It is not perfect, I promise you, but most likely you will end up happy. Any other suggestions? I feel like a lot of recruitment can be luck and I feel I did get lucky, but you just have to make sure you are on top of the factors that you CAN control. Edit: P.S. Thanks for all the congrats! |

Congratulations to both you and Delta Zeta!

Congratulations!!!!

I find this story extremely unlikely. You got cut by all but three chapters, including your legacy chapter, and the three that you pref happen to be the three most sought-after groups? Right.
