2010 Election -- Political Ads
Seems like we need a place to post the better, scarier, slicker, dumber and especially most entertaining ads we see as primaries and then November approach.
I'll start with this one from Alabama. It sets the standard high. Very high. Dale Peterson for Alabama Agriculture Commissioner: We are Better than That! |

Favorite of the recent past: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrjGs...layer_embedded Representative race that made me go WTF in 2008. I couldn't vote for either so I didn't get to vote against Callahan just for making the ad. |

I don't have tv, but we have some awesome signs that run down the road and become complete sentences with each successive home made sign. I should take pictures. |

If anyone had any questions about how Arlen Specter lost his election bid, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NebmB_aAmCE and the ten like it. I'm hardly a Sestak fan, but this commercial was very in your face!
|
This one cracks me up. It first aired during the Super Bowl. Rick Snyder, Republican candidate for Governor in Michigan.

Of course the hilarity fades when you get two mailings per week, every week. |

I saw one (I think it was an atty general candidate) today that made me LOL.

Chuck Grassley has a .... Twitter
Apparently this guy's opponent is a mad scientist selling body parts. We've all seen the demon sheep, right? DEMON SHEEP! Bradley Byrne actually supported teaching evolution  Well at least he's wearing clothes? This one just pisses me off. But it's ok, our candidate hangs out in airplane hangers with terrorists. So he'll save us. Or something. Mike Weinstein is trying to top Hillary 4 U and ME. And the now infamous: I'm not a witch. Also in Autotune and SNL. I felt like this thread wasn't getting love. And I hate to let MC down. |
I haven't seen the ads, but there is so much drama surrounding Joe Miller. He's running for Senate in Alaska. Every other day something else crazy comes out, and I have yet to pick my personal favorite though it may be his hired security overstepping their bounds with a reporter, or him applying for and receiving a low income hunting and fishing license while having a job with a salary over $70,000.

My state has been horrible, Linda Mcmahon has at least one commercial during each break on local stations, sometimes two back to back. It's getting so old, I can't wait for next Wednesday.

But you have done well. Very well. |

From the great state that brought you Basil Marceaux(.com):
We have a guy running for Congress named Scott DesJarlais who got angry at his wife and stuck a gun in his mouth for three hours to threaten and punish her. Good news, they got divorced and he remarried. Now his site indicates that Scott is Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, Pro-Marriage and proud of it! Tennesseeing is Tennebelieving! |

My favorite political ad so far is the Nevada one about illegal (Hispanic) immigrants joining gangs and terrorizing innocent white people. They aired it and discussed it on The View this morning. I will post it if I can find it.
It was the most awesomely ignorant thing in a minute. |
Words fail me on this one.

here's the illinois judge ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxnL8...eature=related They claim he sided with child molestors and murderers. He's explained that these were all procedural cases. He's not a trial judge but an IL Supreme Court judge. Inflammatory, you bet. |
Not defending Angle in any way, but my husband has actually mistaken an Asian for a Hispanic before. They do have similar features in some cases.

But she's a freaking moron, so that's to be expected. |

All members of (insert race and ethnicity) Student Unions do not have to be of that particular race and ethnicity. However, whether they are Hispanic or not wasn't the topic that she was supposed to be discussing. LOL. Basically saying "are all of you Hispanic? Some Asians and Hispanics look similar. I get called Asian sometimes" was the most random thing ever. It not only screams idiot but it also screams "white person desperately searching for a way to converse with and relate to racial and ethnic minorities." |
