I am broken-hearted about Numb3rs. What an under-appreciated show.

BabyPiNK_FL 05-20-2010 11:50 AM

Pretty much every show I watch on network TV has been canceled in the past 3 years. I went from Samantha Who, Chuck, Ugly Betty, Eli Stone, Heroes to Chuck, Ugly Betty Heroes, Modern Family. Now I have Chuck and Modern Family. So the moral to this story is that ABC is a bunch of idiots because I used to watch them pretty much every day and now have no reason to except for 30 minutes on Wednesday. NBC is starting to do it too cos the Chuck scripts were getting weak too, but now seem to be improving. At least they renewed.

I gave up on Chuck, kind of like Psych - I like it but don't care enough to try and keep up with it.

You should try Castle. I would like to bear Nathan Fillion's babies and it's like the one thing ABC isn't screwing up!

I think the networks are not getting the message that more people tend to DVR their shows than they do the act of actually watching a show 'live' any more.

Networks need to take their cues from HBO and others that they run a show but when they go into hiatus be really ready to put on that next hiatus show and then K.I.M.

Remember how HBO would run Sopranos, that would end the SITC would come on, end then 6 Feet under and so on....get it together broadcast networks!!!

You guys have nothing I really want to watch this fall!!!

lovespink88 05-20-2010 11:58 AM

I only religiously follow The Office. I hear this is Steve Carrell's last year, so the show better end too. Don't disappoint me like by carrying on without the main character like Scrubs did.

Simpsons, I loved you til like 1999. Now please GTFO.

Well and watching online. I'm not talking about access to channels I don't pay for already but get on board with HULU or GTFO.

I don't watch The Daily Show or Colbert as often now that they're off Hulu because Comedy Central's video player sucks. (and if it's not HULU it'll be something else, so get on board with that too)

I think he has through Fall 2010/Spring 2011. I don't know, The Office needs to get it together anyway. I've been underwhelmed.

agzg 05-20-2010 12:15 PM

HIMYM and Big Bang Theory should always have been the posts with the shit shows in the hammock on Monday night - that's the only way they're going to get people to watch those shit shows.

Please see: American Dad circa 2006.

besides the obvious...LOL

What's GTFO

Psi U MC Vito 05-20-2010 12:24 PM

I think she means the obvious. Like the 2 options are Hulu or if not, then GTFO.

Yes, channels that don't list on Hulu don't get watched by me. Channels that post 3 minute clips of their shows online *cough Big Bang Theory CBS cough* get watched on websites that don't generate any ad revenue for the network.

OK...jes' checking...cuz if there is a new free online serive out there, then I am in

lovespink88 05-20-2010 12:45 PM

Oh wait a minute, now I'm confused.

I was not reading carefully and thought that Drole was asking "What's GTFO" I just saw that "D", I didn't see "DaemonSeid"

I'm just going to back out of this one. My bad :o

Heh an online tv service called GTFO would be epic.

Would it be inappropriate to post less-than-legal (as in you're not going to get in trouble for watching them though the site could obviously get in trouble) sites here?

Comcast (soon to be Xfinity) has Fancast online but I think it's tied to your account with them.

lovespink88 05-20-2010 12:48 PM

^^ Yeah, I know one of those websites... it's worked pretty well for me actually. You can't get all of your shows, but it has a lot more than Hulu AND it often has old seasons too (although not EVERY episode is available, but most are).

Be super careful of viruses though. I can't confirm that this site was the source, but they're obviously less than legit in the first place. However as my AV caught it, I'm not going to worry about it.

lovespink88 05-20-2010 01:02 PM

Oh for sure.

At this website that I use, most of the episodes can be watched right there on the page (which has been virus free for me, and I have been using it for a while now). However, like I mentioned before, that website doesn't have ALL of the episodes on it...sometimes it will reroute you to really sketchy websites when you click on episode, so I just avoid those.

I (and my mom, who actually turned me on to it) have used Fancast and they are mostly tied into Hulu, but they have a large library of classic shows that Hulu doesn't have.

I personally don't see a problem talking about 'other sites' but I would say "use at your own risk".

Well I'll take it down if there's a problem but I use ch131.com. It has shows and movies and is generally pretty decent.

Google video will find some shows too.
Surfthechannel.com links to other sites including youtube, megavideo and a bunch of Chinese/Korean/etc. sites

Of course, use at your own risk ;)

This.

I only watch online (Hulu or elsewhere) as a last resort. I don't like watching tv on my computer.

ETA: So what will happen to Big Bang Theory when Survivor is on?

I will get very cranky.

lovespink88 05-20-2010 01:32 PM

I use CastTV.com. I mentioned before, as long as the episode you want to watch is on CastTV, you're good. If it tries to direct you somewhere else, I wouldn't recommend watching the episode.

honeychile 05-20-2010 02:28 PM

The only network tv I watch is Jeopardy! and Who Do You Think You Are. There does seem to be a couple promising shows, though. Until then, thank you, FIOS!

We don't like it either. So we have a computer hooked up to the TV that we can use to watch hulu and netflix streaming - there are apps you can put in your Media Center to do it. We also watch live TV through an HDHomeRun on the Media Center PC. Remotes for computers are awesome and I'm getting another one to use on my laptop when I plug it in to the bedroom TV via HDMI.

Of course, Live-in just happens to be a computer guy who just happened to have a lot of the stuff for the Media Center PC just laying around the house.

Maybe Survivor won't come back (one can hope).

littleowl33 05-20-2010 04:02 PM

I have to plug "Lonestar" on Fox - I haven't seen anything but the trailer so I don't know what it's like, but a good friend of mine has a big part in the show as one of the main character's wives. It's a big deal for a young actress and I'm so excited for her! I shrieked when I saw the trailer for the first time - she's the blonde girl in the towel at the very beginning :D

Shit my dad says is having its own show?? Hahaha! That guy's Twitter is hilarious! I'm not sure how they'll make a show out of it, though.

I need to start watching "How I Met Your Mother." I've seen 2 or 3 episodes of it but I need to get caught up on the back stuff.

"How I Met Your Mother" is funny, but "The Big Bang Theory" is the FUNNIEST.

The preview did not induce laughter from me. William Shatner is funny in small doses; I don't want a whole show of him.

We are the funny police.

It will die a slow and painful death like the Geico caveman show. What were they thinking?!

You are not allowed to comment about humor for the rest of the day!

Buzz kill. :p

I agree, Shatner is funny when reading Sarah Palin's book on Conan, not funny in large doses. And I don't feel like the twitter is actually worth having a show for.

I know. :( Can I blame furniture shopping in all of its boringly unfunny splendor?

PRICELINE NEGOTIATOR! I love those commercials.

Maybe. I MIGHT let you.

And those are usually pretty amusing yes.

AGDee 05-20-2010 11:28 PM

Interesting. While I knew I only had two nights a week that were "must watch" tv nights for me (Thursday and Sunday), I never realized that I also only watch two networks. CBS= Amazing Race, Survivor. ABC=Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. Weird. I will occasionally watch The Bachelor(ette), usually near the end, and sometimes American Idol (near the end too). I DVR Ghost Hunters, but they don't follow a typical schedule.

So, all my shows are still around this time and all are in the same slots. Works for me. I might have to check out Detroit 1-8-7 to see what that's about. I'm assuming it's filmed here? They are filming so much here now it's hard to keep track.

BabyPiNK_FL 05-21-2010 12:54 AM

I forgot to mention that I LOVE Fox Sundays. But that's pretty much (in addition to my previous post) all the network tv I watch b/c I usually forget to watch L&O SVU on NBC since it reruns like crazy on USA.
