Songs, cheers, chants...
 

I was wondering if anyone had some cute songs/cheers/chants. We have a few songs that are kind of, well, they just lack pizzazz. One is to the tune of "Its a small world," which I think is just silly! :rolleyes: I would really appreciate any new things to take to my chapter for rush in the future.

Question: What does R H G S stand for in one of those songs?

I'm not a KD but the KDs on my campus do a really cute chant during recruitment. It's really simple but it gets in your head, it's super peppy:

Thanks ladies! These are all super, I will take them to my chapter for rush next year. I might not be participating though, because I am running for Panhellenic Exec., so I will have to disaffliate during recruitment if I am elected. Speeches are on Wednesday...:eek: I'm so nervous!

I was a Rho Chi and on Exec for 3 years...I have always loved Panhellenic stuff, maybe one day Mrs. Bonnie Warren will give me her job as NPC Rep?

OK, so I'm new to all this KD stuff (I'm a member of Eta Gamma, the newest chapter), but I really like this song we made up regarding philanthropies...it's to the tune of "Sweet Dreams" (you know...the Annie Lenox-type song?).

Hey there! Eta Gamma is doing really well! The whole process of changing from a local organization to a national one was a lot of work, but it was so worth it! We have our newly installed council (of which I am a proud member) ready to go. Our first formal recruitment got us 7 new members and we have since done open recruitment and gotten 11 more girls. We are also above the just-set Panhellenic total. Also, in January, we were named John Carroll's organization of the month. Can you tell I'm proud?! We're an awesome chapter and you can expect to see big things from us in the future!

Our recruitment CAB used to do the parts in parenthesis in a high pitched cheer as soon as we finished. The beat is to clapping with the each letter of the K-a-p-p-a- having the same beat as the whole words of "Kappa" in the beginning.

It's so hard to learn them just from words. :(

We always do this one during recruitment, but instead of "We are the Kappa Deltas," we sing "We love Kappa Delta."

We did that one, too. We said, "We are the KD Ladies," instead of what you and nturner used. It was always one of my favorites.

Do you know the song that goes to the tune of "edelweiss" from the sound of music? I remember it says somewhere in it "every morning we greet you" but I cannot for the life of me remember what we sang instead of "edelwiess, edelweiss," and then it said something like you'll be happy to see me.

I know I'm not a Kappa Delta, but I have to mention this. When I was growing up, I went away to a sleep away camp every summer. Each year, kids were divided up into groups that did sessions together during the day. There was always a theme, and the group names depended on the theme. One year, College Life was the theme, and the groups were named after GLOs, and one group was named Kappa Delta. One of the counselors was a KD apparently, and she taught the kids some sweet cheers. Their group won just about every evening contest, and the main cheer was:
K-K-Kappa!
D-D-Delta!
K-Kappa,
D-Delta,
Go KD!
Twenty years later, that chant still sits in my head! (I was in the Sigma Nu group... our cheers were horrible! lol)

Aw, "Hey, Daddy" is taking a beating elsewhere on the forum. There's nothing much specific in Ordinary Miracles about any song, so does anyone know anything about it, such as when it was written? It always seemed like something really old, like from the '20s or '30s, and meant to be humorous. We liked singing in in my chapter, maybe not during rush, though.
