Love it!

And the other side of that coin - the guy who speeds up the right side and then tries to get over and doesn't understand why people aren't slamming on their brakes to let him in.

I used to carpool with that guy - and yet people wondered why I always had a few spare pair of panties in my desk drawer!

Or worse....the guy who knows it's not a turn lane, but gets up to the intersection and makes the right turn anyways.

People do that here all the time at the intersection by my house (lots of construction, so it's 2 lanes, the left lane is the left turn only, but people in the right lane are ALWAYS turning left).

But, I swear this thread has interesting GC timing. LOL.

There are always going to be times when you end up "that guy" because you didn't know the lane was ending or didn't pay attention, but I think we all see those people who purposefully pull out of the right lane traffic to cut around with signs clearly showing that the lane is merging, ending or not turning. I used to get this every morning on 295 South just outside Baltimore, and I saw the same cars do it every single day.

I often wonder how hard it is for some people to DRIVE. Are you texting or doing something else instead of paying attention? Are you rubber necking and being nosy? Get out of my way, dammit!

You sound like me after driving at least an hour to work everyday for the past 3 years!

I've been known to block the passing lane when it's been at all possible -- pulling halfway into the left lane, securing my spot in line, but blocking those who think their time is more valuable than everyone else's.

If everyone did this, this wouldn't be a problem.

Ha...sometimes I do things like that. My husband loves to slow down when someone is tailgating him just to annoy them. It's even funnier when the car next to you does it, too.

So our driver got into the lane and proceeded to drive for TWO MILES until the lane was finally blocked and we had to get back in the right lane.

We still can't figure out why everyone hadn't just waited to merge at the block. Saved us time though lol.

You can usually tell the difference between asshole drivers and the legitimately lost.

The asshole part or the picture part?

starang21 05-12-2010 05:35 PM

is the guy cutting in a congested line and blocking traffic or just cutting into an opening left by a slow driver?

starang21 05-12-2010 05:37 PM

asshole or genius, he gets to make the turn before you do.

LMAO.

DEVODUDE 05-12-2010 07:47 PM

Kevin:The asshole part or the picture part?

To answer your question...BOTH.

LucyKKG 05-13-2010 01:28 AM

Ugh, I hate it when people do this when pulling into a school parking lot!!! Jerks used to do this at my high school, and I've gotten to see it again a few times from subbing. It was totally deliberate.

Not if I have anything to say about it. I usually ride the bumper of the person in front of me so close that the "merger" doesn't get a chance to get in. Otherwise, like Kevin, I'll actually pull over a bit so that they can't get around the lane to the outside of me.

and you'll watch them sneak in front of someone ahead of you. and while you're half in the lane, they'll still go around you.

I don't think we're thinking about the same type of scenario. This is what I mean. No love for I-won't-merge-like-I'm-supposed-to guy:

ahh, from a merging lane into a driving lane. not from a driving lane into a driving lane. either way, unless there's a concrete median.....they might drive on the shoulder to get around you.

Looking at that picture, there is an exit on 495 S that gets congested at Waldorf because MOST people who are getting off are heading to the RIGHT.

I am usually the guy cutting in because I am that one guy who wants to head left and 9 times out of 10 MOST of those clowns are 'that slow driver' leaving gaps and holding everyone else up.
