What Chilli Wants

Is anyone else watching the season premiere? I'm sooooo excited to have TLC-related shows on the air but DAAAAAANG Chilli is even pickier than I am! Xanthus would have a field day on her. So far, her dream man "list" includes:

*must love God
*no drinking
*no smoking
*can't eat pork
*must be fine
*washboard abs
*must be "packin'" ;)
*probably some more stuff that I'm forgetting

I have to admit, I'm totally over shows with women trying to find true love on TV but this is pretty entertaining. Tionna has me cracking up and I'm loving how many other "guest stars" have popped up in the first episode. She's picky, yes, but I see where she's coming from. This is going to be interesting at the very least.

sigtau305 04-11-2010 11:46 PM

I'm hoping to catch it if they show it again after midnight.

Its a trainwreck waiting to happen. I should say that I pretty much hate shows like this. I think her coach hit the nail on the the head by saying she still wanted Usher.

Bottom line, everything on her list was surface attributes. She never mentioned, or mentioned very little, the quality of the man.

My controversial post. Here it goes.

It's funny she wants a guy that fits this profile...but expects a guy that fits this profile to actually want her back.

What is she bringing to the table?

End of controversial statement.

Only in respect that some people don't want to hear that...and it is a light-hearted thread.

She ain't always been so picky...hence being knocked up by Dallas Austin!

Huh? LOL. Your comment is what every dater should know. Your list of "must haves" doesn't mean the people who have those traits will want you. Many of the "must haves" might be dumb, anyway.

As for the show, I won't be watching it. I doubt that Chilli is really looking for love and will actually find love via this show. The goal probably has nothing to do with love. LOL.

I'm sorry...did you call her Flava Flav?

And Brett Michaels (who I platonically love dearly).

She actually HAD Usher. Before he married/divorced Tameka.

Yeah you've been out of the loop.

I've been following Tionna for years now! She's the bestest.

Yeah, she had Usher for several years--I didn't understand it either. :p She said they broke up cuz he didn't want to get married and she did. Then when "Confessions" came out, he suddenly confessed to having cheated on her while they were still together...but the song wasn't about her. :lipstotheside:

This girl...hmm. My thoughts are running ramped but one of the things that sticks out is when she (& Tianna) were at the award/fundraiser, Chili was saying the guys were too conservative and such and my immediate thought was she is out of her element, socially. I'll leave it at that.

That list of hers will keep her SINGLE for a LONG time if she doesn't snap out of it.

DrPhil 04-14-2010 09:06 AM

Most importantly, has she let go of the baby hair?

chickenoodle 04-14-2010 09:35 AM

I heard about this show and some of the hype and the only thing I really have to say about this whole mess (b/c any "reality show" is a hot mess) is I had no idea that's how she spelled her name. I thought it was "Chili."

I'll have to watch the first episode when this week calms down.

She did acknowledge in the episode that she settled many times in the past and got hurt or didn't get what she wanted so now she wants what she wants, no exceptions. I can certainly relate to her thinking but it's just nearly impossible to find all the things she wants in one person. And not that such a person doesn't exist, but your chances of one day meeting up with such a person is pretty slim; I would think that such a person would definitely be taken. If she gets rid of some of the more superficial things on her list, her chances will increase.

rhoyaltempest 04-14-2010 01:53 PM

I think that Chilli and Floyd should take their relationship passed the friend level. Sometimes what you're looking for is right in front of your face and the chemistry between them is crazy.

Yes, I say let it go although I can't talk too much really. When my hair is pulled back in a ponytail I bring my "short hairs" (I refuse to believe it's still baby hair although it does feel like it) down toward my face, but at least it's not long and overdone.

I know, right??? HOWEVER, how can she not budge on drinking and eating pork but having 2 different "baby mamas" is okay? Maybe I'm just thinking with a 24yo mind on that one and things are different at her stage of life (and if "ex-wife" is included in "baby mama" that makes more sense).

To be quite honest, I think most women have a laundry list in their heads and, perhaps on an unconscious level, disqualify men for superficial reasons. Chilli's just so daggone bold about hers. But she's obviously flexible about them because ol' boy from the social function eats pork and she's willing to have a second date with him.

What is the problem with pork? Is she Jewish or Muslim? Otherwise, what is wrong with pulled pork sandwiches? :(

BabyPiNK_FL 04-14-2010 08:21 PM

I can relate to her list. After I broke up with my ex and thought to myself, what do I want ideally want in a man? Why? Because I'd not thought about it before.

Once I did I promptly realized that A) This man doesn't exist and B) I really don't care. I think it's okay to want what you want and as you go along flex it to your needs. You've gotta start somewhere and if you don't make a starting point, it probably won't end well. The guy probably will be nothing like the list at the end anyway:o .

Dionysus 04-14-2010 09:46 PM

Chilli is a hot damn mess. If I were (somewhat) famous like her, no way on earth would I go after a guy who looks like Usher. I don't think she has high enough standards.

Actually I think most men have a laundry list and it's mostly based on the superficial. How many times have you heard of a man (and some will admit it) passing over a great woman because he wants to wait for someone prettier or with a better body? And on top of that, with an ego that's larger than life, enough to think that this woman will want him even though she's a 10 and he's a 2. LOL! Funny. Like I always say, if you strike gold, why keep digging? But sadly, many keep digging indeed and often because of the superficial.

No, she's Christian but a lot of people won't eat pork. I don't know a lot who are bothered by other people eating it, though. Maybe so their lifestyles won't clash? Like how some vegans will only date other vegans to avoid dinnertime conflict? LOL I have no clue TBH.

Actually I was a Vegetarian for a few years and a Vegan for a hot minute (and I do mean a hot minute) and this has to do with the non-eater's perception of internal cleanliness. For example, many "cultural" Vegetarians (those that totally embrace a Vegetarian and "Healthy" lifestyle, not those that simply don't eat meat) see meat eaters as unclean internally and will even find the body odor of meat eaters offensive. I can admit that when I was a Vegetarian my body odor was less strong in every way, from the smell of my burps to the smell of my "you know what" so there is definitely truth to this. Meat causes stronger (more offensive) smells and I personally believe that people who eat red meat frequently, generally have stronger odors than those who eat mostly chicken and fish and definitely stronger than Vegetarians and Vegans. Other bodily fluids will often have a stronger smell also. I know Vegetarians/Vegans that have vowed to only date Vegetarians/Vegans because of these issues. It's like a non-smoker refusing to date a smoker because they can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke and the breath of smokers.

All I can say is, you must have been eating WAY different stuff than the Vegetarians/Vegans I know, because my experience has been the opposite. Gardenburgers...that's all I have to say. "Clear the room" is an understatement.

LOL! I ate mostly fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, cheese, yogurt, and grains. The commercial "Vegetarian" packaged foods found in most commercial supermarkets are a different story entirely. There are Vegetarians/Vegans that won't go near that stuff and consider it junk.

Just saw an episode. Chilli is straight trippin. Dovet (really tho? side eye @ his moms for naming him that) had most of the things on her list, but she wouldnt be open minded enough to just enjoy a date with him. She wont find a man with an attitude like that. She better just stick with Floyd or Lucious because no normal man wants to date a woman who is constantly trying to find fault in him. She gets a big ass BOOOO for that. just gon turn away some good chocolate without giving it a chance.

This sounds like a quote from "Baby Boy" or something. :p

I think his name was Dolvett. Not much better. lolz I was sitting there like "I'll take him if she don't want him!" :D

You know, I've been thinkin' (dangerous, I know :p). I think she mentioned in an interview a long time ago that Dallas was her "first"...for her to end up with his baby and not him, that had to hurt. Then you've got Mr. Raymond over there who cheated on her, put all her business on front street, and the press from it and that dang Confessions song helped him blow up bigger than ever. She probably has barbed wire and rabid pit bulls around her heart after that. My guess is that she's so inflexible on this list partially because past compromises bit her in the butt and partially because if no one makes the cut, no one can hurt her again. The woman is sabotaging relationship opps to protect herself and she can't admit it, maybe not even to herself. I'm betting Tionna's gonna throw that in her face at some point this season. I'm calling it.

DrPhil 04-28-2010 09:42 PM

Chilli is so pretty.

I'm watching the episode with the TLC concert. It made me sad. R.I.P. Lefteye. TLC is still awesome. It was good seeing T-Boz looking healthier and being able to dance around.

Okay...Chilli's son is pretty. And he's kind of strange acting for the cameras. That's all I'll say about this kid. LOL.

christiangirl 04-29-2010 02:27 AM

Ooooh I forgot to bump the Left Eye thread on April 25th this year. I was out of town. :( I'd do a belated bump but everyone'd be like, "Ummmmm...." :p

This ep was ho-hum. Floyd is def in the doghouse but it looks like something pops off next week....

ETA: Oh and DrPhil, tell me why my cousin and I memorized this (from 2:44 onward) once upon a time! If ya wanna remember the good times...:D:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaJYurRDGKo

I'm so glad I got to see TLC in concert. It was my one wish and how so very glad I am now that I got to have that experience before it was too late.

DrPhil 05-02-2010 10:07 PM

Still catching up on previous episodes.

Chilli is beautiful but very judgmental. We all have our dos and don'ts but she's really taking it to the extreme. Okay, a guy who is an asshole and tries too hard to be macho should get a good cuss out perhaps--but the whole sweat thing was dramatic (for the cameras?).

The Olympic dude who drinks--I agree with what he said, which was if he (or any of these men) had a chance to get to know her, they'd be able to assess their opinion of her flaws the way she does them. Instead, she seems to keep this judgmental wall up that makes her appear like a clean slate while these dudes are on the chopping block with EVERYTHING they do. What she's doing is a COMMON dating mistake.

If these dudes were smart and wanted to really clown, they'd say "you're gorgeous but let go of the baby hair" or "are you really judging me when you are JUST a 'baby mama?!' SRSLY?! I don't care if he was your first--he wasn't your husband." There are so many places to go with people who act like they are the prosecutor, judge, and juror for everyone.

jdrama 05-02-2010 10:50 PM

Patiently waiting for Tionna to read Chili's behind.

I.A.S.K. 05-02-2010 10:59 PM

"You wanna water or somethin?" (insert New York accent). LOL.
Um I re-issue my statement that this bish is trippin and aint neva eva eva gonna get a man because baby they definitely dont make that model in perfect. lol.

"He's fly, but his ass too big." LoL.

Chili needs to get over herself like ASAP.

jdrama 05-02-2010 11:03 PM

I agree with the above statement.

@ your bolded point:
I think that has made me like each guy even more because even though Chili is being a total tool none of them have lashed out and tried to be jerks in reaction to her mischaracterization of them and her being a buttmuncher. I love a guy who can remain himself and cool in the face of bull.

I totally agree. But not only is the "judgmental wall" she puts up a dating mistake, it's a life mistake. Umm, I remember a little phrase that goes a little something like, "Don't judge a book by its cover."

But I guess in this case it goes both ways because I didn't know anything about Chili's personality before the dating show. I was a little familiar with the Usher drama, but didn't know anything about her as a person. Obviously because of this, I thought she was a beautiful person. I still think she's pretty, but didn't realize she was so close-minded...

Also, there was nothing wrong with half the men she "dated." She didn't have to talk to last dude like that, though. I hate when people try to pin you as an alcoholic because you enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. Dude obviously wasn't drunk, spilling his drink, or acting up in any way. That last comment she made about him not making the Olympic team because of his drinking was uncalled for. I kind of wished he was rude about it, just because of the way she was acting the whole episode, but I'm glad he kept it classy.

LOL @ the baby hair comment. When will it go out of style?!?! :o
