Start with writing in full sentences and using appropriate punctuation.

Out of all the people to flame, I don't think it is this girl...
RebelCheerBabii - When you go through recruitment, you'll get the chance to visit every sorority. During the week, you narrow down your choices little by little. By seeing which girls you click with the most and who you feel most comfortable around, you'll probably start to pick out some favorites. You'll also be learning about the different philanthropies throughout the week and you'll probably cultivate some interest surrounding those two. Overall, you just sort of get a feeling of where you'll fit in. Plus, it never hurts to check out the Greek Life website of your school and the individual sorority webpages.I hope this helps. |
Keep in mind that the recruitment process is about mutual selection. So as you are looking at the different sororities and attempting to discern which are the best fit for you, the chapters are looking at which girls are the best fit for them as well.
There is no "sure fire" way of determining which one is the best fit. You just have to go through recruitment, meet the different women in the chapters, learn more about them, and your opinions will start to form from there. |
lol thanx but u guyz didnt answer my question!!!! what i ment is is their anyway u can tell which houses are good and which arent....... i wanna make sure a house that seams cool during rush doesnt end up being totally diferent. how can u tell which houses are for real and which are just pretending to be cool?

Although, if your ghastly spelling and grammar skills are indicative of your overall academic fitness, I don't think you have to worry about college, period. |

You can't really determine that. Also "good and "bad" are subjective terms. What one girl thinks is great about one chapter may really turn the next girl off to them. You're looking for some sort of "magic checklist" to determine whether something is for you or not. There isn't. Check out some of the recruitment stories posted here, everyone ranked their choices a certain way after after Pref for different reasons. Also, seams are in jeans. It seems as if you are using the wrong word. |
i have a 3.8 gpa and am in NHS so i'm defff smart! :p i'm sorry if my spelling annoys you i didn't realize that this was an essay test lol!
i don't care that much if the house is popular, i just don't want to be with a bnuch of nerds who never have fun. ive herd that during rush people try to look and act there best and i want to make sure the girls who seam cool during rush arent actually the nerds just acting cool so they can get girls. like i said, theres nothing wrong with that i just kno i wont fit in with girls like that cuz i like to go out and talk to boys and stuff. thats why im wondering if theres a way to kno if the girls are cool or not cuz i wanna make sure wherever i pledge has girls who like shopping and parties and stuff, not just school and homework! |

It's considered very taboo to ask about a chapter's partying habits during recruitment. So I hope you don't plan to ask this question during the process. FYI: Typically a chapter has many different people in it. Example: If a chapter has like 100 girls in it, they are not all going to enjoy doing the SAME things. Everyone has some different interests and you'd be hard pressed to find some girls that don't share yours. I have never met a chapter full of girls who were complete hermits who hate doing anything social. Also, I'm not sure if you know this, but it IS possible to "talk to boys and stuff" and be serious about your schoolwork at the same time. |

When you get accepted by the college of your choice, go to its site, and read what EVERYTHING that is said by the Panhellenic about Recruitment. Then, knowing which chapters are at your school, check out their websites, too. Please realize that there are no sororities which are Nerd Loser Nerd.
Register for Recruitment. Go to maximum number of parties to which you are invited, no matter what. Know what is important to you, and realize that, while you are prioritizing which sororities you like, they are doing the same. You like shopping? Ask about shopping. You like shoes, ask about shoes. They will be doing the same thing. This will go on until Pref, when you will be down to 2 or 3 sororities. After the Pref parties, rank your choices. With any luck at all, you will receive a bid to one of the sororities. It's really not rocket science. You will know where you feel at home, and I have this feeling that you will not be confused as to which sororities would suit you, but please keep in mind that they need to feel that you will fit in, too. Just for the sake of continuity, will you please come back in the fall and post your Recruitment Story? I, for one, would be thrilled to read it. |

It seems like she is asking how to know which houses are being real during recruitment and which ones are putting on a show and might be different after recruitment is over. Ask what the girls like to do. Some will say they love going out. Some will say they love getting together for movie nights. Some will say other stuff. You will be able to discern, I'm sure

well im glad some people here are helpful! idk why u are insulting my school when u dont even know me! i just asked a simple question, u couldve just ignored it instead of personally attacking me!
it seems like everyone keeps telling me i wont get into top houses. that doesnt seem fair to assume that when u dont even know who i am or what im like! for all u know, i could be perfect and will be wanted by all the houses i rush. thats why i want to know how to tell what the houses are really like so i can have my pick of them! as my mom always says, dont say anything nice if you cant say anything at all! |
oops i got that backwards! the saying is if u cant say anything nice dont say anything at all :p these ap tests are turning my brain into mush!!!
|
It's your attitude of entitlement that is making everyone here say the things they are.
If this same attitude comes out during your recruitment, I'm assuming you can expect a similar reaction. |

My mom always said, "If you can't say anything nice, come sit by me!" :D And lose the entitlement attitude. If you have it going through recruitment, they will chew you up and spit you out |

first of all, what's with the dolls? i havent seen those since like, first grade! their so cute!! kinda random tho.../????
idk why psi thinks she knows where im going to school...i havent even decided for sure yet!!! ive got until may 1, but i applied to tons of schools so its hard to choose! psi, if u already know where im going in the fall please tell me! itd be nice to see in to the future and make this decision alot easier!! :p im really not trying to be entitled. im just aware of what im capable of and maximizing my options. if you have a 4.0 and perfect test scores you wouldnt apply to community college would you? no youd shoot for harvard cuz you know thats what your capable of!!! |
thats retarded. if u arent gonna help me, i might as well stop wasting my time with u. at least i have better things to do than sit infront of my computer all day posting pics of dolls!

Tiers and top houses aren't things that we discuss here, except to say that the concept is ridiculous. Even if we wanted to tell you which houses are the "best", we can't, because YOU don't even know where you're going to college yet. People told you to go into rush and judge for yourself. Because.. ya know.. you have to live with this decision. We don't. Some have criticized your high school because your spelling and grammar skills are atrocious. If you think that those things only matter while writing a paper for school, you'd be sadly mistaken. You're not perfect. |
I kind of take offense to your post... I'm in the club at my school that most people stereotype as having the "awkward" or "different" girls. That doesn't mean that just because we have our quirks and that we aren't carbon copies of each other that we aren't genuinely amazing women or that we aren't pretty or that we don't have what the other groups do. And let me put it on the record, I could never imagine my life without my sisters! I've never regretted accepting my bid for even a single moment. I agree with many of the other posters, if that is where your head is about rushing and joining a sorority, you've got your priorities ALL sorts of messed up... Just sayin'.
|
RCB- Not to worry, your head will be filled with plenty more garbage during recruitment. PNMs in the know will tell you their perceptions and opinions of which chapters are "top" and "bottom".
Like I said before, it's true, we don't know where you're going to school (and neither do you apparently). The "Rebel" in your username suggests Ole Miss. If you do indeed decide to go to Ole Miss, I can say with confidence that you WON'T get into a top chapter. How do I know this? If you were "top tier" material at Ole Miss or equally competitive schools, you'd already know which chapters are considered top. They'd already know you through their network. You'd have alumnae offering to write recs for you. Still, even those things can't guarantee you a spot in a top chapter. At certain schools, connections are of utmost importance, and you haven't said a thing about recs or connections. |

OP's posts make my head hurt. I've seen a lot of high-school aged people write like this, as though they were texting. I remember the days of just saying "like" too much. Has their laziness just taken over or is this the cool thing to do now? Ugh.
|
why does everyone think i want to go to ole miss? my high school mascot is the rebels, thats why its in my sn!!! i didnt even apply anywhere in missisippi so idk where your getting that.
i never asked anyone about teirs or top houses or anything like that cuz tbh i dont care whose in what house. i only asked my question cuz i was worried about finding a house that fit me since ive heard a lot of women act fake during rush to get girls to join. the only reason why top houses came up in the convo is because everyone kept talking about them and i didnt know what they were. personally i think i can get into a top house if i wanted to but im not sure thats where i belong either. ill just have to wait and see. i dont know why people think im attacking them for not wanting to be in a sorority that doesnt like to go out or go shopping. i know there are houses like that out there and i know i wont fit in with them. its not like their bad girls or anything just that their not my type. im sure sororities filled with seemingly 'awkward' or 'different' girls are wonderful there jsut not where i think i belong is all. |

I think we have done all that is possible at this point, RebelCheer. Please come back and give us more details at a later date. We look forward to following your progress with recruitment.
Also, if you have not already done so, please read some of the recruitment threads and stickied info for advice and guidance. You will find this very helpful. You may even find info about the school you are attending, when you know what that is... Good luck |
I'm really surprised that no one has called out the OP for being strangely similar to another GCer...or 2....
