MIP and That's It....

This is a personal opinion "scenario" question it's not about "Skating or Pledging: What's Better?" but how would YOU treat someone who skates after they become a member. So, if someone skates and splits your chapter (he/she didn't receive a line name or anything) but after becoming a member he/she works tirelessly for the organization, does his/her best to live by the founding ideals and principles of the organization, and refrains from wearing paraphernalia, using the hand-sign or performing the call in public because a 'pledged' member told him/her not to do so; how would you view this person in regards to your chapter and the organization? After a period of working within the chapter would you feel as though he/she earned the right to wear paraphernalia and to do those things which signify membership, such as take pictures using the hand-sign?

NiaX 04-07-2010 01:41 AM

someone is harping on the wrong thing... the person that felt they had power over a person and the person that gave up their power.

but something isn't right with this question...

was it you or your friend that got punked?

Senusret I 04-07-2010 06:35 AM

This happened to an Alpha I know. After being banned from his own probate and from wearing letters, as well as going to conventions without his chapter (hanging out with alumni bros), he finally was accepted by his chapter after about a year.

No sooner than that happened, he started ignoring everybody who had his back during the roughest times.

He is a bama.

Neither, no imaginary friend and I'm still an interest...

I asked the question because it was just something I noticed in the wonderful world of Facebook, photo comments...
But also because of a text I received from a friend who is an interest in an another org and her disrespect of a current member in that org because the girl skated. I've never noticed this girl until recently as she was walking by herself with her org tote bag, even though I see other members of her org always together. And I wouldn't have known she skated if my friend hadn't informed me that she doesn't speak to her even at their events because the girl is a skater and has no pull (even though she's been a member going on 3 years now), my friend only wants to get in good with the members that matter (pledged) because they can get her in...

But personally, I would think that after a while how you came in would just be water under the bridge. Though I do understand the whole power aspect of it, someone may also choose not to do those things (wear para, etc.) out of respect for the members of the chapter...

But also because of a text...

The kids and collegiates of the Internet Generation really suck. I mean that 100% and with zero exceptions.

You and your friend are so far out of your lanes that you're on the shoulder against the guardrail. You need to sit down somewhere and so does your friend.

I'm still trying to figure out if she ice skated or roller skated. If she ice skated I would give her cool points for the higher degree of difficulty--a single sharp blade v. four wheels.

Ahh, but what if she used inline skates?

My mistake. From the convo I read (that was open for all the public to read) about who can wear a duck and who would get beat up if they did, I was lead to believe that the topic was open for discussion by all. But by the responses, I now know better.

That was so wrong of you to do that to those who stood by you. I thought I taught you better.

Hmmm, maybe this was a farce to get everyone to go to that FB group in hopes that we'd like their products? "It" went from saying a friend told "it" this stuff about the non-pledged girl, to seeing this on the FB group's photo section. C'mon, Son. C'mon.

Ice skating is actually easier! But I'm sure you understand they mean orga skated. But on to the topic skaters get NO RESPECT. And seldomly do you find a working skater, if you do accept them for what they are worth....PAPER work! If you didn't do it during your process, you shouldn't do it once you join!
