My Friend's HOLLYWOOD Recruitment!
 

OK...I went back and read the past stories I wrote and it does make me embarrassed. Basically someone slapped me (figuratively) and said to not be such a dumb*** about sorority etiquette anymore so I've tried to change my attitude just a little and I really REALLY want to tell you guys about my friend's recruitment. She just went through AT MY SCHOOL!!! and gave me permission. So I'm super excited, what do you say? Will you give me a chance? OR BETTER YET, WAIT AND READ AND DECIDE!! (Sorry, I'm really excited lol)

The groups ARE:

Malibu
Venice Beach
Sunset Blvd
Paramount Studios
Rodeo Drive
LAX
Beverly Hills

This story however did NOT take place in LA. My friend is NOT a legacy to any groups. However many of her friends (at other schools) joined sororities, so she knew of a few and was pretty excited. Going into rush, she did have some initial impressions about groups based on gossip, but what can you do? I shamelessly plugged my sorority all first semester.

HER FIRST DAY!!!

Malibu - Going in, admittedly she had heard of this group in a negative way. She couldn't believe people said what they said!! She noticed this group was considerably smaller than all the others, but everyone was nice! She was polite, and said the conversation flowed, but nothing overly special stuck out to her. She admitted she wasn't comfortable with this group's reputation.

Venice Beach - She hadn't heard about this group as much. She said this group of girls seemed down to earth. She remembers saying she was taller than a lot of the girls, LOL! Overall, she said the conversation flowed and she had a pleasant time. She didn't really express a strong feeling to go back, but said she had liked these girls.

Sunset Blvd - She HAD heard about this group going in. People had told her they were really fun to hang out with. She told me she loved this group. They seemed both chill and hilarious. They talked a lot about Greek Week and fraternity relations but in an easygoing way. She mentioned a lot of the girls looked really cute, like cute style and stuff. She wants to be in this sorority!!

Paramount Studios - She said this group had more energy than all of the other groups combined! They were just all smiles but super nice and they seemed really interested in her! She said she tried to smile a lot and her mouth hurt. She liked this group.

Rodeo Drive - She said this group had a very different feel from all the sororities in a good way. She said they seemed super laidback. She said this sorority had a specific reputation, that was neither good nor bad just "what it was" and it was something she was. She felt comfortable here and wanted to come back.

LAX - She went into this group sort of ambivalent and left the same way. She said everyone was nice but she just didn't feel a connection. She also said she felt strongly about almost all the philanthropies, except this one (not that it's not great!!). She didn't want to go back here, to be honest.

Beverly Hills - She was super excited to go here because she had heard about them from EVERYONE. They are very popular here. All the girls were sweet and she said their fabulous rep was well deserved. She would love to go back here. She said a lot of people want this group.

I understand the qualms people have with me and while my apology and acknowledgment was brief, I thought I might have shown my sincerity by the lack of immature judgments in this newest story. I don't know if I will continue this story because it has been derailed by 2 incorrect accusations just in this thread alone. I'm not asking you guys to beg me for this story, please don't, I just don't want to cause a fight for no important reason.

Just to clarify, you only rank your 2nd and 3rd choices after all 5 number ones. Does that make sense?

I am very, VERY tentatively posting this. I hope I’m not making a mistake.

She got her schedule back and you could be invited to a max of 5. She had:

Sunset Blvd !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Venice Beach
Beverly Hills
Rodeo Drive
Malibu

Overall, she was pretty happy. She was really happy about Sunset Blvd of course and she said that Beverly Hills was so great too! She really wanted to know more about Rodeo Drive because she thinks this could be her home too. She was happy to go back to Venice Beach, because she felt very comfortable there. She was torn on Malibu, but was going to see how day 2 went. She wasn’t disappointed by being dropped by LAX or Paramount Studios.

SO, DAY 2!!

Sunset Blvd – She loves this sorority even more now. She says all the girls are just so cool! She likes how recruitment lets you build relationships with the sorority members as the days go, and she feels as if she is really getting to know Sunset Blvd and I know she would love to be a sister.

Venice Beach – She said this sorority was a little low key today, but she felt comfortable with these girls. She likes talking to these girls and doesn’t have to think about what she is going to say, it just flows. She said it seemed a little less glitzy than some of the other groups. Like less extravagant, maybe?? She says that’s sort of her feelings for this group too. Very at home, without all the pizzazz. Hahah I don’t know

Beverly Hills – She LOVES BEVERLY HILLS!!! She said every girl was super super sweet. She said that she saw some Beverly Hills girls not talking to their PNM that much, and that concerned her. Overall she had a great time and would love to come back here. She said she is not getting her hopes up. This sorority just seems to have so many great opportunities and the girls all seem great!

Rodeo Drive – She really really likes this group. She thinks these girls are the epitome of genuine. She said a lot of these girls remind her of girls from home and since I know her, I can see how she thinks that! She said these girls are almost in a league of their own. She said she really REALLY loves these girls and would love to see them on her bid card.

Malibu – She said she didn’t have as good of conversations here as everywhere else. She says this group’s reputation really is not something that she feels she is secure and confident enough to handle. I don’t think she wants to give this group a chance.

She didn't. All of the ones with a 1 in front of them are ranked at the same level.

Now, I just can't help it. I HAVE to post the rest of the story. I avoided writing it for so long just because I knew I would want to post it, but then I decided, ok I'll just write it and not post it, BUT I CAN'T HELP IT, SO I HOPE SOME OF YOU ENJOY AT LEAST!

At this point, she was basically in love with Beverly Hills, and Sunset Blvd. The next invites you could get had a max of 3, so she was hoping hoping HOPING she had these 2. She got her schedule and………….

She said that she was VERY upset that she didn’t have a chance to “live in” Beverly Hills. She said this hurt a lot and it was hard to not be visibly upset. She was less upset about Malibu, as you know, but honestly she was SO STOKED for Sunset Beach and Rodeo Drive. She didn’t even mind having to go to Venice Beach!!! Some girls were going back to places they did not like. Venice Beach just wasn’t her top 2 choices, but she definitely enjoyed the girls there.

Sunset Blvd – Oh, she just loves this sorority so much. She says everyday she finds a new girl that she falls in love with. I describe this as a rush crush but from the PNM! She says every girl in this sorority is her rush crush! She says the girls in this sorority exude the confidence and personality that she finds so beautiful in people! Aww, I loved when she said this! She said in addition, this sorority is very social and fun and loves that she could make many connections at the school and the whole Greek community. Wow!!

Venice Beach – She really likes Venice Beach. She says the girls just “get” her and that they’re a lot of fun to talk to. She is SO torn about this group. She feels really at home here, but she loves the other groups too!

Rodeo Drive – Every time she walks into Rodeo Drive, she feels like she’s walking into another world. These girls just have a different air about them, she says. She says this group is so different from the others but she still loves it! She also said that these girls seem EXTREMELY close, like family. She really liked that, but has also heard that they tend to hang out mostly with each other because of it. She says she wouldn’t mind that so much because they’re all great!


Ranking today was for sure the hardest. She had to pick two for preference. She knew she loved Sunset Blvd but was having a hard time deciding between the other two. She ended up ranking like this:

1 Sunset Blvd
1 Rodeo Drive
2 Venice Beach

She said she put Rodeo Drive first because the group just seems so fabulous. She said they seem so worldly and close and just seem to live the most fascinating lives and she would love to be a part of that. She is sad about Venice Beach, but she said the other two just stood out to her more. She said that the Venice Beach girls are SO nice, and SO chill/cool and would not have minded at all calling them sisters, and will DEFINITELY call them friends




PREFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man, she is dying at this point. She is terrified about seeing her invites (what if she doesn’t get any???) but also DYING OF EXCITEMENT. WHO MIGHT BE HER NEW SISTERS???!?!?!? AHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her invitations for PREF ARE…….

She was almost CRYING TEARS OF HAPPINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She said that assuming all goes well in matching, she can’t wait to wear her bid day shirt tomorrow!!!!!

However there was ONE MAJOR PROBLEM. How was she EVER GOING TO DECIDE????

Lol, I think my excitement is coming through this a lot.
P.S. I wonder if any of you know which group I am in!

Anyway on to the pref parties!

Sunset Blvd – She loved every minute of this party. There’s not much else to say, she left knowing this was the one.

Rodeo Drive – She really loves this group. She says they seem like real sisters to her and she just knows her life would open up in so many ways with this group. She says this group seems so glamorous and cultured, just so intriguing! She says this group sort of reminds her of famous people in that they are all secretly fabulous, and all close friends with each other but a little bit exclusive. She says she doesn’t want to let this type of group go.

Can you believe it??? I died. She says she has fallen in love with both groups and would just love love LOVE to be a sister of either one.

Now all she has to do is wait. She didn’t get the call so she knows she has a bid and she is just over the moon so happy.

SUNSET BLVD!!! AKA DELTA PHI EPSILON! She felt a slight sting of regret about Rodeo Drive who she gave her heart to, but she could not be more thrilled about D PHI E!!!! I have such close friends in DPhiE and just KNOW that she is going to love every second of her 4 years with that sorority. They are simply fabulous and she and I are both so glad that she has found her home. That’s it!

Is it bad form to ask the school? I am one of those who really doesn't know many schools Panhellenic system.

I have never posted under the name I <3 myself. That is not me. I don't know why she is saying that is me.

It is not a made up university. It is real. It is the same university that my own initial recruitment thread is from. When I posted my original thread, another GCer PMed me asking about a certain university and she was correct.

To be honest, I don't think it's that hard to figure out, however I choose not to reveal because in MY recruitment thread I was "less than tactful".
