An Open Apology

Hello my friends,

I wish to apologize for the behavior, etiquette and general rudeness of one of my Phi sisters.

Not every lady that proudly wears her pink and white colors is so callous. While I do not think my sister meant to hurt anyone's feelings or rile a fight in any GCer I know she did. Many of you came to me about it.

Please do not think badly on our organization just because someone typed before they thought after all it's only the internet.

Thank you for your friendship, your patience and of course the laughs.

FYI: Anyone who posts on GC and thinks poorly of an ENTIRE org based on the posts of one member (or several members) is not the brightest crayon in the box.

Yeah what she said. We all have members that we don't necessarily agree with.

BabyPiNK_FL 03-28-2010 10:57 PM

What is this woman talking about? Who is she? lost...

A sister was saying a few things that were really offensive to some fellow GCers. In fact she made a few people cry just by being callous. I felt that it should be known that not all of us are "cruel snobs" as I was told.

BabyPiNK_FL 03-28-2010 11:13 PM

How do you make ppl cry through the internet? Is that even possible? I don't personally know anyone on GC for anything to affect me that much? What was she saying? Lost...

QFT.

It's really silly when people issue apologies for someone else. It's also funny that the OP wasn't specific about who she is talking about. Very passive aggressive. I assume she's talking about als463 and not even als463 should apologize if she stands by everything she said--perceivably good or bad.

epchick 03-28-2010 11:32 PM

Shit happens, people disagree. Just K.I.M. This is taking it overboard.

It wasn't just GCers she offended... it was her own sisters also. Thank you for apologizing, but you have no need to.

Actually, I originated the pink font back in '01. I stopped posting in it because I realized how obnoxious it was.

still waiting for a reference...

eta: nm.

anyways, i don't apologize for my sisters. if they stand by what they mean, then good for them, whether i agree or disagree (which i do, A LOT). i don't get involved. do i appreciate rudeness-no, but it's the internet, so anything can come across any kind of way regardless of the intent behind it. I also try to stay out of threads where people may potentially post hard-core conservative stuff cos I already know I'll disagree and won't like most of what i'll read, I just don't bother, saves time.

I vouch for the authenticity and truthfulness of this statement. :)

DaemonSeid 03-29-2010 08:30 AM

I dont think she made anyone cry...that's giving her too much credit.

...although I can probably say it was the reverse.

Good. Maybe now you can focus on the etiquette (or lack thereof) and general rudeness of starting threads just to apologize for the behavior of someone else.

Who in the hell are you to apologize for me? Don't! Please don't think that you are the perfect picture of what a Phi Mu should be, either. People don't have to agree with me. I don't have to agree with them. This whole thread is just stupid. You must have way too much time on your hands.

I may have offended people but, things were said that I could say were offensive, as well. Am I going to start a thread about how pissed off I am? No. In fact, I don't get on here as often because I have been very busy in the last week. Then I come on and read your stupidity. Geez. If you think I make our organization look bad, maybe you should take a look in the mirror.

Thank you. I wasn't trying to be a b**** when I said I have been busy, too. I really have been. I just think it is stupid to apologize for someone else. I may not always agree with you but, I'm not going to say, "Wow, I hate those Deltas." That would just be STUPID! You may not always like what I have to say and vice versa but, this is an internet site. If we can't disagree with one another without someone from our organizations "apologizing" for us...then what can we say? Wow. I'm just shocked.

LatinaAlumna 03-29-2010 02:42 PM

Sisters arguing with each other on the internet...not a good look.

The whole thing could have been handled via PM (both sides).

I find the bolded hard to believe. Who are you? I'm pretty sure that if someone made me cry, I wouldn't go running off to tell Little Miss Newbie (who has 9 whole posts) about it.

Bless your heart. What'd als do that made you cry?

Sorry. I guess I should have said that she pm'd me complaining that I don't make our organization look good, or something like that. She proceeded to tell me about where she and her husband went to school and how her husband can't find a job. I don't even know where that came from. I don't really care about what she and her husband are up to. I don't know them. I never asked.

LatinaAlumna, normally, I would def. agree with you on the fact that you shouldn't have an argument in an open forum because (you are right) it does look like a poor reflection on your organization. I was just disturbed that this random person, whom I have never met, first pm'd me (out of nowhere) and then her first thread is about me. Creepy, if you ask me.

As far as threads she is talking about (the OP), she is talking about threads where I posted my opinions regarding healthcare, the job market, etc. This entire thread is a joke and sort of pathetic (on the OP's part).

DaemonSeid 03-29-2010 05:21 PM

Cool... she can apologize for herself!! Good girl!

No, it wasn't.

Some people actually do care how others on the boards make their orgs look, especially when the org is posted in their signature. It doesn't matter if you or whoever wouldn't judge a whole org based on one member, but there are reasons why we have rules against doing certain things in letters. Constantly dissing sisters in public while publicly displaying the organization name is disrespectful to our letters.

KSUViolet06 03-29-2010 06:00 PM

I'm sorry, but anyone who forms an opinion of Phi Mu based on the interwebz is not smart, and probably doesn't belong in college.

Did you ever think of the potential Greek members who visit the boards? They don't know any better. Plus many of our organizations have high up Nationals officers who lurk. Some wouldn't care about that, but I do. There's a way to express your opinion without disrespecting and putting others down.

This whole thread is pathetic.

The OP should never have posted it (honestly, SO uncalled for), and even so, als should never have responded. The whole topic would have been allowed to die (as it had for the past week or so).
