Good Morning- First Snow of the Season!

It's snowing here!

:)

Isn't fall and winter great- just makes you want to curl up with somebody you love and drink hot chocolate.

(Except maybe a couple of -you know who-'s...who would probably be drinking scotch or brandy to keep warm)

:)

Just thought I'd share my morning with you all.

For the record though, I don't really like snow, come, January, or march or April..I'm ready for it to be gone.

Always,
Jess

Gotta love hot chocolate - but yeah, a glass of bourbon would warm me up too - just not as soon as I wake up.

amycat412 10-26-2001 04:38 PM

Geez its about 80 here, just walked back from lunch and was sweating in jeans and a short sleeve sweater.

lifesaver 10-26-2001 05:38 PM

San Antonio Chimes in...

Today we had campus carnival and it was 85 degrees outside. I was sweating like a Guatamalian working in one of Kathy Lee's sweatshops. Fortunately tonight its supposed to cool off to 60 (55 in the hills). I hate South Texas sometimes, its 3 days away from November and its damn near 90! WTF? Deer season starts in a few days and they dont like the damn hot weather. What sucks is that it'll be like this till thanksgiving. Yeah, nothin says holidays like shorts and a T. And ya'll yankees wonder why we drink Iced Tea year round down here. CAUSE ITS HOT!!

I think we are going tubeing on Sunday. I want to work on my tan before the holidays. I probably wont have time to get any sun then. What was that about snow again???? <lifesaver gloating>:D ;)

I would love to make a snow angel one day and have a white christmas! Now that makes for a great holiday season! :( Too bad houston is so darn hot all the time!

IowaHawkeye 10-26-2001 06:55 PM

i can't even imagine not having a white christmas... or a real christmas tree that we went and chopped down together (my family likes that bonding type stuff :D ) I don't think i could ever live anywhere that doesn't have all 4 seasons.. which is why i will probably live in chicago... forever... we have all the seasons, sometimes in the same day! :D

xok85xo 10-26-2001 09:06 PM

aephi alum 10-27-2001 10:01 AM

When I was a soph, one of my new floormates (freshman) was from Trinidad. The day the new freshmen moved in, we had a floor meeting to allow everyone to introduce themselves, say where they were from, their major, and something about themselves. The guy from Trinidad introduced himself and said "I'm really looking forward to seeing snow." The previous winter we'd gotten a total of 90 inches of snow... so we upperclassmen were all laughing and saying "You will... you will!!"

3 days before Thanksgiving break, there was a snow flurry. My floormate came running into the dorm, all excited, and said "WOW!!! Did you see that snowstorm???" I sat him down and explained, very patiently, that that was only a flurry, and it gets worse. A lot worse.

By February he wanted to go back to Trinidad... :)

I love having sunny warm weather all year round. I will watch
the snow on TV.

Yeah . . . I believe the great state of Iowa is the only one to record a day with snow, and with temperature over 100, during the same month (june) . . . the midwest has the worst weather in the nation. When it's hot - it's brutal, but you keep all the lovely cold of winter. Fall and spring? They're lovely weekends, then it's on to the more extreme seasons.

KSigkid 10-27-2001 12:31 PM

Northeast is pretty bad - having lived here for all of my 20 years (between Connecticut and school in Boston), I can say the brutally humid summers and brutally cold winters can really get annoying. That and the fact the temperature will change by some 20 degrees a day at some points in between in the fall and spring makes things tough. It's no wonder everyone gets sick in the fall and spring.

Miami1839 10-27-2001 01:49 PM

Yeah, it must be nice to be on the west coast sweating in jeans LOL Especially since you guys get more pool weather and you can dry your clothes on the line. LOL Yeah, I wish it could be just watching the snow on t.v. We dont get it that bad really here. People cry here when we get 1 or 2 inches of snow and they let the schools out. We have more of a problem of icing and sometimes there will be a fluke and we'll get a foot of snow. We have the most unpredictable weather in Virginia. Its sticky as hell during the summer and we get lots of thunderstorms. But our falls and springs are absolutely fantastic. Especially when the leaves turn in the fall or when the dogwoods and cherry blossoms bloom in the spring. Fall and Spring are my favs here.

Well I wish I could talk about it snowing here but I live in south Louisiana...about as far away from snow as you can get. It's basically summer all year long here. Lifesaver is right...we'll all be wearing short sleeves for another month. It sucks so bad because I want to wear all of my cute cold weather clothes. Oh...and for those of you complaining about brutual humidity in the midwest...trying living here where the humidity is damn near 100% every day!!!! It's horrible!!!!!

AOIIAngel 10-27-2001 05:22 PM

I would give anything to see REAL snow, cause the 20-second-once-a-year-wanna-be flakes that fall here(if even ONCE a year) just dont cut it for me. I want to go somewhere where you can see the seasons!! Damn this Texas weather!!!!:(

aggieAXO 10-28-2001 03:07 AM

Hey Tiger52, I went to Baton Rouge to visit a sorority sister in Sept. of 96 and my goodness-I thought College Station humidity was bad. We were having a picnic just outside the stadium (there was a game that day-and BTW are ya'll allowed to drink on campus?-I guess so as eveyone that was tailgating was drinking)it was sunny and there was dew/condensation or whatever you call it dripping off of the trees constantly-on a perfectly sunny day-I could not believe it I had to keep going to the vet. school (my friend was a vet. student) and washing my face. I loved Baton Rouge though-had a great time.

TigerGirl52 10-28-2001 01:07 PM

Hey AggieAXO--

Yes the humidity is horrible here. The first few football games of the year are always really really hot and it can sometimes be hard to enjoy the game. It got down into the 40s or high 30s for last night's game and it was actually pretty cold in there. Too bad we couldn't win that game. UGHHHHHH!!!! I'm still so mad. Oh and about the alcohol thing...our campus is dry. I wanna say it's been dry for some time. But on Saturdays in the fall...that all goes out the window. You just have to make sure that if you're under age...you conceal your alcohol...LOL. We've all gotten pretty good at that!!!!

Okay, this is Indiana weather for you, but...

That day it snowed. Two days or so later, we had a horrible thunderstorm and four tornadoes touched down. Today, I had to roll my windows down because i as getting too hot in my car.

It's crazy. All within one week span.

Sounds almost exactly like Louisiana...LOL. Well with the exception of the snow. Basically we just prepare for crappy weather. If it isn't hot...it's probably raining.

Same with Connecticut... two years ago, we were hunting for our Christmas tree in shorts and t-shirts! But on Saturday we got our pumpkins and the weather was perfect. Plus the place had freshly made chocolate chip cookies so that smell of chocolate was all around. Yum!

The1calledTKE 10-29-2001 04:13 PM

I miss snow too. I did see some last year when I went up to Atlanta around Chrismas season.

Dejajeva 10-29-2001 05:14 PM

This is crazy. I've been wearing shorts all day.

:(

The1calledTKE 10-29-2001 05:17 PM

I am sure Jason would rather see you in shorts. :p

Dejajeva 10-29-2001 05:36 PM

lmao
