ANTM 2010: Cycle #Kabillion
 

I'm surprised there's no thread yet (that I could find)! Starts tonight, will you be watching, or have they fizzled themselves out?:)

OMG I was gonna say "Holy crap, I missed it?!?!?!!" I haven't missed a premiere since Cycle 4 (don't judge me, lol). Ooooh goody, I'm excited! I've been trying not to count down so I wouldn't drive myself crazy and it almost passed me by. :D

I'll probably catch up online when I can. The show kind of sucks now. I'm convinced that the only reason it's still on is because CoverGirl won't let it die...I'm sure they're paying tons of money for their hour long ad each week.

Wow, I've seen no publicity for this at all. (That is seriousness not sarcasm) Are they doing the stupid guest judge thing again or did they get someone new? Because if Tyra's the only female on panel (Miss J does not count) I'll be skipping this big time.

I watched part of an episode last season and it truly has stopped being about the girls and it's turned into an hour of Tyra's self-absorption.

This show is my crack. Although, all signs (good group of girls/winner last cycle, Andre Leon Talley, etc) point to them starting to get less cracky. We'll see.

I haven't heard anything about the prizes yet either. I bet CG is on board, but maybe Seventeen is out?

I saw it as a planned recording in my DVR and was surprised- I too haven't see any commercials or anything.

I'm looking forward to this season, if for no other reason than Miss J will no longer be a judge. THANK YOU. I have no real opinoins about the other judges, other than that it's interesting that Kimora was originally a judge, then had/has her own reality show, and now is back. Kind of surprises me- wonder how big of a diva role she'll play.

Looking back at last season's thread, here were my comments about the judging changes... and they are still very true now!
Like Tyra's themes & accents, (s)he is really getting to me. Do I really care that you can't see over your sleeves, rip names off your vest, or wear ugly ruffles? No. Stick to the show, please. I think this is a really good move on their part, so (s)he can focus on what (s)he does best- runway. I've been hoping for this change for a while- and who knows, maybe Tyra will cut some of her antics too? It'll be interesting to see the dynamics at panel next season.

So AlphaFrog, I'm definitely tuning in. But I'd love to see more of the girls, and less of Tyra being crazy & judges competing to see who's the bigger diva.

Most definitely. I really enjoy watching the re-runs on Oxygen, but the last few seasons were a little overboard. It started going downhill after Danielle won.

That was painful to watch. As she made it to the runway portion, I was thinking "don't get hit, don't get hit, don't get hit"... and she made it... and then went back. Ouch!

Reminds me of the water platform one from a few seasons back- where each platform was floating and would tip either way if you weren't dead center & balanced. They must set challenges up hoping for failure. Makes "great" tv.

Wow two Greeks on ANTM? AFAIK, there has only ever been one other Greek at all (Robin, Cycle 1, is a Delta).

I've known about this premiere for awhile, but only because I was looking for it. Seriously, the show has gone sooooooo downhill, yet I still watch it when I have nothing else to do. Which indeed makes me question-- who is the real loser here? :o

I watched it tonight. I didn't know Miss Jay was not coming back this season until I read it in an earlier post - and yet, he/she was on tonight...? What is the story?

Also, how did you know that Alexandra was a KKG? I couldn't find that info on her in the model bio. I would have been rooting for her anyway after that you tube clip of next week's episode, but now that you tell me she's a kappa, I will be pulling even harder!

OK, shows how lame this show has gotten. I read this thread, posted in it, and STILL forgot all about the show.

I watched it. Weird place to end the show...it's like CW wouldn't give them the extra 30 min so that they could do a FULL two hour premiere. I was disappointed that Angelea made it, and I think she only did because of the drama that happened last season.

Hmmm. Are the chapter members not pleased? This seems like one of those things we would have painted and hung a banner across the house for. And, if you are from the South, then "Bless her sweet heart" definitely implies you are less than enthusiastic.

Oh no...please don't misunderstand. I don't know her, nor am I in the chapter. Just not my news to tell, I guess. I just knew you guys would be interested in a greek connection. They might have it plastered all over the place at her KKG house, I have no idea. Or, she just might be a really private person. I have no idea. So it wasn't just me? My DVR stopped recording right when the girls were going to their photo shoot. I checked and saw that it only recorded 1 1/2 hours.

Does anyone know what happened? Who was booted last night. God knows I hope it was Angelea.

Is it me or do they pick girls who look like previous contestants? Angelea reminds me Isis. Anslee (prior to her hair being cut and died) looked alot like Cassandra (and then cried like her as well). Raina now reminds me of...omg what is her name...Asberger's girl from cycle 9. Krista looks like a couple of girls (that I can't place their names right now).

I am rooting on Naduah, Raina, Alexandra (serioulsy another "normal" size girl needs to win) and Gabrielle.

Angelea and Krista need to go bye-bye.

Although I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED when, I think it might have been Gabrielle, who said "the mean girls never win", which is very true. A "mean" girl on the show, has never won. She might make it far, but eventually gets booted.

I did not like *any* of the make-overs this season. To me Tyra made them all look freakish, like her. :eek:

It was only a 90 minute episode....a "to be continued" type of deal.

I LOVE Alexandra and Raina, and the fact that Alexandra is a KKG is a even better (she really is, a little digging confirmed it).

Finally got to watch it.

My favorites are Jessica, Raina, Naduah and Simone.

I am soooooo happy the snooty rich girl got bumped. If I had a dollar for every time she mentioned her trust fund, I'd be that wealthy too.

DITTO. I knew they were going to get rid of her and the pierced girl when they showed them sitting there in the breakfast room saying they weren't going to get cut.

I love Naduah, Raina and Simone. Oh, and Alexandra - especially since she's a Kappa! I hope she mentions it on the show. When Simone said she was a DG I got really excited :D

So far, though, this cycle is pretty blah. The myspace/whatever thing at the beginning was dumb, and it seemed really weird that they cut it right when they did. Also, wth was up with "Ren"? That was so random. Seemed like some sort of shady dealings to me. They did something similar last cycle when they got rid of that Jesus freak girl and brought on the other one once they got to NYC, but this just seemed really weird.

I'll probably watch because I always watch, but this one just isn't too exciting to me. Same formula, same girls crying at makeovers, same girls fighting in the house. And if they don't get rid of Angelea soon... ugh. Girl looks like a man in a wig anyway.

Not a huge fan of Simone. I knew what she was saying about not fitting in with other black women but it just didn't come out very well. I think she might be another Kelly from C3.

I love Alexandra! Alaysia (sp?) will def be entertainment, but Angelea and Krista need to GO. Last night reminded me of C3 when the entire house got into a fight (the thing that started with Amanda bumping Eva, then everyone else jumped in). I like the biracial girl but not her blond, curly "wood nymph" makeover.

And I actually like Brenda's haircut. It was drastic, but it fits her and it is trendy/fringy/whathaveyou. It'll take her far if she can figure out how to work it to her advantage.

Any bets that someone will wig out and quit this cycle?

Ugh! What is Angelea's deal? She's not even attractive! She can go already! She's definitely not model material, she looks boney and awkwardand speaks like a man. Her language skils are poor. Everything about her is horrible.

Why are there three girls having an argument about who is fake? Why would anyone get into a fight because they believe someone is fake? Just don't talk to each other!

Was anyone else hoping that Angelea would be the first to go home? :(

I was happy to see Nadua go. I really want Angelea and Alayshia (or whatever her name is) to go as well.

I like Jessica and of course Simone because she's a DG :) No one really sticks out for me though. Felt bad for Alexandra on the runway!

ETA: Okay, it's over. Yeah, MAJOR faux paux changing her makeover. I really want Alexandra to come out on top next episode, I like her! And I just noticed something--we were talking last cycle about how each winner represents another minority and there hasn't been an Asian winner yet. There's not even an Asian contestant this cycle, is there?

And Alaysia, honey....you can't be saved talking like that on national tv. Just take it down a few notches.

I keep thinking that same thing - except I think Raina doesn't look as (for lack of a better word) slutty. And her picture this week was CRAZY good.

So far I like Raina, Jessica, Simone, Brenda, and Alexandra. I'm glad Naduah was booted, and I'm really REALLY hoping Alasia gets booted next. Waaaay too much drama. Also wouldn't be sad to see Ren go. She would be an amazing model, but I don't think she really wants it.

When Naduah started telling all those crazy stories, I thought Tyra would probably cut her, even if she had a good picture. Tyra likes the drama on her show, but I don't think she'd put up with a pathological liar. Simone looks like Kerry Washington to me, and I also love Raina.

Why does everyone assume Naduah was lying? I don't know a lot about cults so IDK. But I went to school with one girl who had been in one and she had some crazy stories. She didn't like to talk about her time in the cult (I think she was a little traumatized to be honest) but every now and again, she'd tell us something and it would be totally off the wall. So the stuff Naduah was saying sounded believable (though I do admit I missed some of the episode so, if there was something way out in left field, I may not have heard it).

In the last episode when they were getting one of the Tyra Mails, Simone was wearing a tank top with a huge anchor on it :D

I though Naduah was really cool looking, and I was impressed with all that's she's overcome after the cult, but I was pretty sure her modeling stories were bogus. When she said Playboy asked her to pose for them and she turned them down, that sent up a red flag. She is not Playboy material at all. That may or may not be a compliment.
