Not a guy, but I imagine food of any kind would be appreciated. Does the party have a theme?

For example, if it was a football theme, maybe some koozies, beef jerky or barbeque chips, a nerf football, etc.

Free stuff is good stuff.

rufio 03-01-2010 11:28 PM

porn. lol. i say this bc someone dropped off a basket of porn the other day.

deepsouth 04-13-2010 02:16 AM

Get a cooler. Write his name on it, if you feel like it decorate it a little bit, but nothing that will be embarrassing or "gay" so that he won't use it again. Fill it with Beer.

If its not at your sorority house then I would go with deep south here. Even go as far as to spray paint the cooler the color of his fraternity. I would love something like that, especially if it was free.

frathole 05-27-2010 02:37 PM

A bunch of booze

Yeah, that's a great idea.

Booze is good for college.

fumblerooski 05-28-2010 12:43 AM

Candy and chips would be a good start

PhiTubbs 05-31-2010 12:40 PM

cant go wrong with beer lol koozies or food.

jdavidaiken 09-06-2010 12:22 PM

We helped our a sorority by building them a treehouse for their formal rush (which I still don't get) and were repaid in soft sided coolers painted with AZD loves Kappa Sig and signed by most of the sisters for each guy that helped out. they filled it with the beer of our choice.

I use this thing every weekend and still think AZD rocks for it even though we all did 3 days of labor to get a cooler and beer.

DEVODUDE 09-06-2010 01:34 PM

Cooler, Booze, food, etc. Just about anything would do. One year, my chapter received a basket of cigars, a bottle of brandy, St. Pauly Girl Poster and some snacks.

ZBT:"Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Present & Impacting the Future."

OldGold&SkyBlue 10-07-2010 12:18 AM

Coolers are always good but when I think of a girl getting a guy a cooler, I'm thinking beach weekend, mountain weekend, carolina cup, or whatever. Not just your average social. Alcohol is always good too. Plus koozies, croakies, shirts, cigars, etc. Don't know what type of fraternity he is in so it really depends on that. But alcohol is gold when it comes to giving gifts to us fraternity men.

You do realize that the OP is 7 months old right?

OldGold&SkyBlue 10-07-2010 03:29 PM

You do realize I don't look at the date right? You are so cool. Thanks for letting me know.

And maybe you should so you don't give information that isn't really relevant.

OldGold&SkyBlue 10-07-2010 03:38 PM

Is any of this information relevant? Who really goes onto a website to learn about fraternities and sororities. Honestly.

You're new here, aren't you?

The answer is lots of people.

Of course, in this case, no one was trying to learn about fraternities and sororities. Someone was asking for ideas for favors for a specific party.

OldGold&SkyBlue 10-07-2010 03:46 PM

Thanks for clearing that up. Now that we've all got down that this thread is old and I didn't realize it. My bad. I will try much harder to look at the dates of the threads and not post on threads that are old.

agzg 10-07-2010 03:54 PM

Wasn't there a thread recently almost exactly like this? Started by a poster with a similar name?

I'm utterly confused.

Yes! Same OP! http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...d.php?t=116324

All her posts are about getting gifts for guys. Weird.

Gift baskets for guys, February 2010: http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...d.php?t=116324

T-shirts for guys, May 2010: http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...d.php?t=113725

The link above is from September.

Seriously... I don't get it.

What's the saying? Those who live in glass houses can be the first sinner?

Way to ruin my buzz

samrob1858 12-20-2010 10:51 AM

The best free ones my campus gives out are the durex and trojanez. Trojans and magnums break on me the least. Good luck

trojanpride 04-05-2011 05:36 PM

Went to formal with a friend and she got me some inside joke gifts, a note, and a flask. Flask was definitely useful that weekend, and the other things didn't cost anything but were awesome.

I keep hearing about these coolers, but it's just not a California thing, and I don't know where I'd keep them around. I mean...do you have to throw them out at a certain point? I know this sounds stupid but come on, our rooms in the house aren't that big.

I'm picturing a Southern frat guy with ten coolers stacked in a closet next to a bunch of polos now.

Edit: I am way late on this thread...The question about coolers stands though.

When you get a new car, do you just keep the old ones in the driveway?

The paint gets scratched off pretty bad, and they get lost/destroyed through heavy use. There's usually a new one a few months away. Which makes you pretty careless with the old one.

This sounds like an experience the Lonely Island should write a song about. "Basket of porn, basket of porn...boobies boobies everywhere."

The fellas I know would not want a painted cooler, they have coolers for their outdoor activities and would prefer something to fill said coolers. I just can't imagine Idaho guys at camp out or rafting with a hand painted cooler. I'm not just talking alumni either, but freshmen and sophomores.

I did my own fratty/school crafts: knit golf club covers, painted picture frames, made a cover for the bird dog's bed, baked cookies & cakes, but cooler painting, never.

Perfect comeback song for The Bloodhound Gang.

Colonel Sanders bucket leads to finger licking, but this basket of porn is for choking the chicken. Pizza delivery is a way to get laid and paid, bow chicka-wow-wow there's double pepperoni in her box!

Thanks for answering my question, and those are very awesome fratty crafts. Frafts? This should be a thing.

Also, might not be a comeback song to the Bloodhound Gang, but The Lonely Island did something to make fun of the Ying Yang Twins. It's before their SNL days I think, so it's not quite up to par as their Digital Shorts, but they are the "Bing Bong Brothers":

A YouTube commenter said "This should be the Chat Roulette theme song," so in other words, this is definitely NSFW.

Stratty crafts - strafts I guess.

Fratty crafts would be stuff like building a beer pong table, or filling the house with sand for a party. Which you have to admit is an upgrade from how high can we stack beer cans.

I should be clear that there are no absolutes. There are probably guys who would like a painted cooler and women who would paint them, as there are people on campus who definitely are into the whole Old Row TFM genre, they just aren't in the majority.

My crafts combined alma frater and alma mater symbolism so it was definitely particular to a chapter at this school. I'm just crafty though, I can't sit and watch a movie or tv without doing something else and crafting goes well with visual entertainment. I don't suggest anything with subtitles though, or a overly complicated craft. Podcasts and NPR are awesome for something that requires more visual attention.
