If you have reservations about discussing this on a public internet forum, and there is pending action being taken by your inter/national office, it might be best to keep this within your organization/chapter. Just a thought...

This, especially since it took me one minute on Google to figure out which fraternity and which chapter you're in. Loose lips sink ships, you know.

I'm guessing that your national organization has legal counsel. This is what they're there for. Stop asking random people on the web.

Kevin 02-10-2010 04:08 PM

What Mysticat said.

DrPhil 02-10-2010 04:09 PM

FAIL.

thetygerlily 02-10-2010 04:12 PM

No more QFP.

DrPhil 02-10-2010 04:15 PM

I was trying to give him a chance to delete. I don't know what the others were trying to do.

Same here, and I wanted to avoid any embarrassment to his fraternity.

dreamseeker 02-10-2010 04:30 PM

i did nothing because MC's first response said it all. but forreal, you said you don't know how comfy your brothers would be with this on the internet, but yet here we are...FAIL indeed and maybe you do deserve to be QFP'ed.

This.

Barbie's_Rush 02-10-2010 09:05 PM

I really wish a super mod would delete this entire thread. It's still very easy to google the fraternity and chapter and figure out what the situation is from the title and other posts. It's not right for this to be out there for all to see.

But I will really miss the banner ads for this thread. I luvs me some "lady boy kisses!"

als463 02-11-2010 09:38 PM

Yep. Once again, I'm lost. That should be my new slogan. I tried to google it (once someone said you could easily find it-because I am nosey) and I couldn't find it.

Either way, I hope it works out for this guy and his GLO.

33girl 02-11-2010 11:11 PM

Don't worry, I am nosey and lost as well.

Psi U MC Vito 02-11-2010 11:14 PM

Same

xomanadaxo 02-12-2010 02:00 PM

Same...at any rate I wish whatever GLO and chapter this is all the best!

Barbie's_Rush 02-12-2010 05:23 PM

So I am assuming all of you who are wishing this chapter and GLO the best are in favor of admitting pre-op transgendered people into your GLO and your chapter?

Oh, def. not. I was saying I wish the chapter well, as in, hope they have great recruitment. In fact, I would not be welcoming to someone who was a pre-op transgendered person into my organization, as bad as that may sound.

Since when does "good luck" mean "please join my organization"?

Y'all are doing the most.

Doing the most? What do you mean?

I meant "good luck" to this organization and I hope all works out for them. I didn't mean for anyone to think I was saying I would want that to happen with my GLO.

xomanadaxo 02-15-2010 04:39 PM

I never intended to express an opinion either way...sorry if it appeared otherwise! This is such a tricky issue...I'm still not entirely sure where I stand and therefore am in no position to take sides! I simply wish everyone the best of luck and hope those involved come to whatever decision is best for the chapter and individuals in question.

ALS -- Why would you not welcome a transgender person to your GLO? Uncomfortable about personal grooming issues? Worried about being in states of undress in front of them?

Please remember that gender is between the *ears* and not the legs. They're just as much your gender as you are, dear.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but as far as legal issues are concerned (and this is a legal issue) gender IS between the legs. Once they're post-op and have driver's license, birth certificate etc changed over, they're welcome to join. The thing is that unless you started your journey at age 15 or so, there aren't going to be a lot of post-op people who are college age.

Not to mention the financial issues that face Trans people of all ages, let alone college students who may have lost any and all familial support, including health insurance and are barely able to afford food and a roof over their heads (if they aren't discriminated employment wise) let alone the cost of surgery and hormones.

33girl, some states, like the one I live in BOOOOOOO, do not allow a person to change their birth certificate. I find that so unacceptable and wish that the law would change.

Doesn't a transgender person go against the good morals that Fraternities and Sororities were founded under?

Fraternities and Sororities were founded "under" morals? I'm trying to figure out how that works.

atoheadlines 04-29-2010 12:19 AM

All of you get off it! Everyone of your founders would roll in their gaves if you were saying you accept a transgender person into the organization. This is why isn't one big group of coed, It was founded by men for men and women for women. Greek organizations were founded by Christian students. Every single organizations mentions God in something about them or why they were founded.

Again, do you understand what the term "transgender" means? I don't think you do.

Random undergraduate knows any and everything about everyone's' organizations. Nice.

I hope my founders (alive) don't roll in their gaves over this comment.

Except of course for the ones that weren't, like Alpha Epsilon Pi, Delta Sigma Phi, Delta Phi Epsilon, Phi Sigma Sigma, Sigma Alpha Mu . . . .

I'm only here to laugh at this. Let's pretend that all of these organizations were founded by students who happen to be Christian. Pretend. Does that mean that the organizations were founded based on Christian principles? Also, are Christians the only ones who would mention God in "something about them?" Is a belief in God the only thing that makes Christians Christian?

I swear you other religions/faiths are some Godless creatures. I rebuke thee.

atoheadlines 04-29-2010 04:32 PM

Shadow TKE was founded at a religious college. KA says for the love of women and God in their motto. There are dozens founded at Christian women schools. ATO history:founded to form a Christian bond between men.

Your founders aren't dead I hope unless by some gang driveby since it was founded in 87'.

TKE, KA, ATO. Three whole organizations that are clearly representative of EVERY GLO in existence.

And your attempt at humor was weak.

i just saw this. this is such a stupid thing to say because i KNOW you don't know the history of every org out there.
i would say that you need to expand your world to more than NPC/IFC but it's more accurate to say the three orgs you listed.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I saw it on a friend's facebook and chuckled.

One of his friends posted a comment that said something like "I know what you mean. I always wake up lying in a pool of swag" lol

I do believe ATO's founders and my founder fought in the Civil War, were generally pro-slavery, etc. Both of our organizations kept blacks out until the 1960s. Sigma Nu, not until 1968.

To pretend that intake policies of any organization founded over 100 years ago would be approved of by the founders is just ignorant. If you're wanting to use your founders' values to cover up for your own prejudices, you lose.
