Tri Delta Ice Dancer Olympian
Representing the USA at the Vancouver Olympics 2010 are ice dancers Charlie White and Meryl Davis. Both are students at the Univ. of Michigan. They have been skating together for 13 years.
Meryl is a Tri Delta from Michigan majoring in anthropology. Congratulations Meryl and Charlie. |
Woo hoo!
And she is adorable! I can't wait for figure skating. It's always one of my favorite Olympic events!
Yes!! I watched the opening ceremony last night with some of my sisters and we screamed every time they showed Meryl on the screen, haha. We're all rooting for her.

Baahha I was doing that toO! But i was with my family who think I have too many DDD shirts so they weren't amused by my "THATS MERYL DAVIS!" |
Does anyone know what night and time she competes? I want to make sure I do not miss her performance.

She is skating tonight in prime time! I am not sure of the exact time, but it sounded like it was going to be in the latter half of the prime time coverage along with the other American pair.
Tri Delta put this on facebook! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5B6TDtZA4Y

she did great tonight! Her and Charlie are in 3rd place. More points from the next round though!
To be an athlete FOR your school while you are working toward a degree is very difficult. Participating in an event that is not school sponsored almost seems impossible. The hours that the sport demands as well as being a student, has to be daunting. I know the clip said they were currently "part-time" but even at that, can anyone imagine missing four weeks of class and still being able to pass a test? These two are truly amazing. I will be cheering hard tonight!
Thank you, GatorDG, for your gracious compliments.
On Sunday the ice dancing competition continues. This is the original dance. Meryl and White will be dancing on the ice to an Indian theme. The dances begin on Sunday evening after the skiing events are completed for the day.
On the NBC website are short videos of some earlier performances. |
She looked gorgeous and I loved her costume. Whoo Hooo!!!
I've been following the story and watching the skating on youtube when I can. The team is amazing!
So much to be proud of, Tri-deltas! She was fantastic on Sunday! Great costume too. :)
I am so excited to watch them skate tonight! I really hope they come away with the gold!
They were SO GOOD. Stunning. I love them.
I'm nervous! I'd love for any of the American teams to win, but I kinda have a soft spot for Belbin/Agosto because they've been to the Olympics before and have gotten so close. Davis/White will be around for a while I know.
I'd love to see Davis/White, Belbin/Agosto, and the Candians Virtue/Moir on the podium...just not sure in which order! PsychTau |
THEY GOT THE SILVER MEDAL!
I think she is the most adorable thing to walk on (solidified) water! I only watch them, everyone else is just second rate. I love their teamwork and their unique "pizazz" for lack of a better word. Does anyone else feel like they're watching "The Blue Lagoon" cos his curly blond hair?!
You nailed it BabyPink_FL! I knew that he reminded me of someone! They were just wonderful to watch. Congratulations to DDD, she represented you well.
congratulations to your sister meryl and her silver medal!!! so lovely and graceful.
They did a beautiful job last night and when I saw Meryl being interviewed, she was so gracious and conducted herself so well.
"Her and Charlie are in 3rd place". Please!!!!
"Her" is the objective case. "She" is the nominative case. Use the nominative case when the noun is the subject of the verb. In this case, the verb is "is", the third person singular conjugation of the verb "to be" ... "He is, she is, it is". But that's the formal explanation. If you just stop to think about it for about two seconds, would you say "Her is in 3rd place"? Obviously not. So why are "Her and Charlie" in third place? I might expect such usage from someone in elementary school. But an apparent college student and a sorority member??? Unbelievable. Only in the USA. |
Congrats to Meryl and Charlie. She just conducts herself so well, and they were wonderful.

kthanks. |
What, you think the only proper place to be using even the most basic elements of proper grammar is on a thesis paper!!!
I allowed for the fact that this is an informal forum in not also commenting on your improper use of 3rd rather than third (in formal writing, all numbers below 11 are always spelled out in full). But using "her" rather than "she" in the nominative (i.e., as the subject of the verb) is NEVER correct, as any college student and sorority member should know (I'm sure that your sorority, whichever one it is, emphasizes scholarship as one of its primary features or objectives). |
White and Davis were good alright, but not even close to the Canadians Moir and Virtue. They were fantastic.

1. Three exclamation points are not necessary. 2. Capitalization of NEVER is not correct. 3. You use far too many parenthesis. 4. Since the last sentence of your first quote is an entire sentence inside of a parentheses, the period belongs inside of the parentheses. Or, it can be viewed as a run-on sentence. Take your pick. Those comments are off the top of my head. I'm sure I can analyze further and find more mistakes. Quote:
This is not a thread discussing the intricacies of the sport of ice dancing or what team performed better. This is a thread congratulating a Tri Delta. Start a thread on ice dancing if you would like to discuss other performers. Also, YAY FOR MERYL AND CHARLIE!!!!!!!!! |

Ur grammar iz sooper!!111!!! I was talking with a Michigan Delta last night who rushed Meryl. She said Meryl is as sweet and polite as she is on TV. Which really made me happy; too often I wonder if figure skaters, gymnasts, etc put on a show for the camera because that it what we expect of them. |
