borntobewild 01-29-2010 08:13 PM

Miss North Carolina is Alpha Omicron Pi

Jill1228 01-29-2010 08:23 PM

Miss California is a Chi Omega? I know she went to USC, but I didn't think they had a Chi Omega chapter there (I know they used to)

ISUKappa 01-29-2010 08:32 PM

Miss Kansas is a Kappa Kappa Gamma from Kansas State according to the Kappa twitter feed.

She's a Delta Gamma. I googled and found this:
(From DG's Facebook page)
Miss California Kristy Cavinder, Alpha Nu-USC; Miss Iowa Anne Langguth, Zeta Phi–Harvard and Miss Alaska Sydnee Waggoner, Zeta Zeta–Boston University

I believe that her mother was a Kappa and that Miss Kansas is not actually a member of a GLO.

SWTXBelle 01-29-2010 08:55 PM

Let me know if you hear anything else - I'll try to keep the list as correct as possible.

sky&sea 01-29-2010 09:30 PM

Wow, Pennsylvania (I'm from Pittsburgh) and a Kappa?? I guess I know who I'm rooting for. :D

AXID2006 01-29-2010 10:12 PM

I could be wrong with California ! But thats what I found =/

oh welp!

I also don't think she is a Kappa. I think someone from Kappa HQ (or the Wichita alumnae association) mistakenly retweeted that. Here's what it said: kkgwichita
And #KKG RT @KStateAlumni: Miss America pageant, TLC, 7 p.m. CST tomorrow! #KStater Becki Ronen is representing KS! http://missamerica.org/

I found her mom on the database, but not the daughter.

Kappamd 01-29-2010 10:23 PM

There's a Wichita Alumnae Association newsletter on the web that says something to the affect of "Former Wichita Alumnae Association President's daughter was crowned Miss Kansas." It never mentions the daughter being affiliated, so I seriously doubt she is. Plus, like you said, she's not in the directory.

I think the tweet just got misconstrued.

Could totally be my misunderstanding. Hard to convey in only 140 characters!

Miss Mississippi is a Chi Omega from MSU.

Someone from Chattanooga said they thought Miss Tennessee may be an ADPi. (Stefanie Whitter)

Awesome! Congrats to the Elon chapter!! :)

FSUZeta 01-30-2010 08:20 AM

it seems that the odds are good that we might get a greek miss america this year. good luck to all the panhellenic sisters.

AOII*Azra-elle 01-30-2010 08:42 PM

Miss Colorado is an AOII from my own chapter of Epsilon Gamma at University of Northern Colorado!

Tippiechick 01-30-2010 09:23 PM

Anyone watching? Honeychile, I know you are.

Awww...wish you'd told us earlier! We could have gotten the word out to all the sisters on FB like they did for Miss NC! Good Luck to Miss CO, too!

Katmandu 01-30-2010 09:26 PM

There are at least three Kappa Delta's in the competition, Alabama, Florida and Michigan, but whoever claims Miss California, may well claim Miss America.... she is a very strong candidate!

AOII Angel 01-30-2010 09:27 PM

Yay, Miss Colorado just made the Semi-Finals!

DrPhil 01-30-2010 09:29 PM

I'm watching. :)

Tippiechick 01-30-2010 09:32 PM

Can someone explain the selection process? I thought I understood it. But, I am shocked at how few of the preliminary winners are in the finals.

Benzgirl 01-30-2010 09:35 PM

Ellen Bryan, Miss Ohio, is not Greek at Ball State.

Kappamd 01-30-2010 09:41 PM

Miss Ohio is not Ellen Bryan. Miss Ohio is Erica Gelhaus.

SWTXBelle 01-30-2010 09:54 PM

I'm watching!

Katmandu 01-30-2010 09:55 PM

Taylor Treat Miss Oklahoma is a Theta at OU, at least according to intraweb....

AOII Angel 01-30-2010 10:00 PM

So we have an ADPi, APhi, AOII, Theta, DG and AChiO in the finals. Anyone else?

ASUADPi 01-30-2010 10:27 PM

What's sad is that Tennessee started singing and I was like "oh god please stop", then I come on to greek chat and see that she's a frickin' sister!

Sorry sister, I rooting on Louisiana. :D With California a close second.

Kappamd 01-30-2010 10:30 PM

So many freaking singers this year.

I would automatically advance anyone who came out and rocked something like Lady Gaga instead of these snoozers.

SydneyK 01-30-2010 10:30 PM

Yikes - didn't much care for Miss Kentucky's arrangement of On My Own.

ErinBee 01-30-2010 10:33 PM

I feel like Miss America is definitely getting more contemporary. I HATED how the introduced themselves with the corny jokes. But I like that some of the talents are getting more modern.

Kappamd 01-30-2010 10:37 PM

I am rooting for Miss Hawaii for the sheer underdog factor.

Katmandu 01-30-2010 10:48 PM

Miss Kentucky's answer was .... well, not as articulate as I am sure she wished it to be...

I found it to be heartfelt, honest, and not some rehearsed, make-it-fit-your-question answer.

However, Miss LA really was pointless in her answer. She has personal connections to Haiti and that's why we should send help? C'mon, girlie. I liked you until then.

UofISigKap 01-30-2010 10:51 PM

I found that they use Greek letters for groupings interesting. http://onlineselection.missamerica.org/ Mu, Alpha, Sigma
Miss America...I got nothing for the Sigma. Scholarship??

Maybe I have it confused... I was thinking about the steroid one.
