Favorite trainwreck

Because I am extremely bored, I decided to post this. What was everybody's favorite trainwreck of a post on GC. Mine would probably be the guy who didn't trust his girlfriend because she wouldn't share her ritual with him.

XAntoftheSkyX 01-09-2010 05:52 PM

I <3 myself and TanikaJ were my favs in recent memory.

epchick 01-09-2010 06:11 PM

My favorites are when members start talking about TEH CULT, The Triad or any AWESOME variation that involves mafioso type GC connections.

But clearly, we don't trainwreck the thread with that, we make the thread fabulous and entertaining.

amanda6035 01-09-2010 06:14 PM

the twins with the sequined hose.

southbymidwest 01-09-2010 06:46 PM

I must admit, I liked the rejectment thread. Some very clever GC'ers.

Um yea. I remember one particular thread where the Power of the Triad pummled a woman who had to go alum her sophomore year to have a baby. I can't remember the exact reason but I was bashed by one of my sisters. Meh, all in good fun!:D

Psi U MC Vito 01-09-2010 08:00 PM

What is the Triad?

Benzgirl 01-09-2010 08:01 PM

The Syracuse Triad: Alpha Phi, Alpha Gamma Delta and Gamma Phi Beta

KSUViolet06 01-09-2010 08:08 PM

*Sequinned hose twins.

*I failed my new member exam.

*Any thread beginning with any variation of "I went through rush but dropped out because I'm super pretty and every house I had was full of ugly girls" Those are guaranteed to trainwreck.

awwww yes, that was the thread that spawned the "awesome square of power" or something like that (i bumped it a few days ago). I don't remember you getting bashed though? Not cool! I did get some grief for saying that about that alum, but oh well. Next time they should be nicer! lol :p

KSUViolet06 01-09-2010 08:23 PM

Any thread that starts off with "please be nice to the PNMs" or "why is everyone so mean to the PNMs?" or "stop stalking the PNMs." Any accusation that people are just being "sooooo mean" is guaranteed to trainwreck, as it should.

I was bashed via PM. It seems to me that I wasn't being very ladylike.

indygphib 01-09-2010 08:38 PM

Ditto the sequined hose thread.

I love it when that happens.

Also, to add to the list of trainwrecks: Any thread in which a GC tells another member any variation of "your posts don't represent *insert sorority here well* when they aren't even a member of "insert sorority here*.

My favorite is when none Greeks try to correct Greeks.

ThetaPrincess24 01-09-2010 08:47 PM

The entire thread did not become a trainwreck but part of it did a few years back.

It was in the Word Association Thread.

Someone typed: Michael Jackson
Next Person: Pervert
Next Person: put the name of a now banned GC'er who was very long overdue for their ban
Banned Person: posts angrily in his usual inane, drunken form

I'm sorry but each time I think about that I laugh. I remember telling my husband about it even when it happened and he even thought it was funny.

Oh :p (and that is w/o the dumb smile that the emoticon had) to them!! You keep doing you :) <3 Triad sisters.

Speaking on PMs, you know a trainwreck is about to happen when someone busts out the classic "thank you for all the PMs of support" or "i've gotten many supportive PMs from GCers."

Psi U MC Vito 01-09-2010 08:59 PM

Oh another one. The one by Maelynn1 asking how sororities could tell if somebody was already initiated somewhere.

KSUViolet06 01-09-2010 09:08 PM

I think it might have been in a GLO-specific forum (Pi Phi maybe?) but there was a mom who was crushed by her daughter not getting into that particular sorority. She went on and on about how great and smart and pretty she was. To make her point, she actually posted her daughter's PICTURE in the thread. I think the mods in that forum got to it before it could become too much of a trainwreck though.

*That one mom thread where mom said she was heartbroken and disappointed because her daughter got a bid, but did not get a bid to a top tier house and it embarrassed her.

Ohhh that was a good one!

Also eaglesbaby/blondie20/the other 30 that she's come back and started but hasn't finished because no one was giving her attention because we know its her.

OMG...That one... no words. I still am wishing that was fake.

KSUViolet06 01-09-2010 09:11 PM

The littlemissvixen recruitment thread from Illinois.

She was "brutally honest" and made sure to include details concerning each house such as "these girls were overweight and had fake pearl necklaces."

The thread quickly trainwrecked. lol.

KSUViolet06 01-09-2010 09:15 PM

Double posting, but I have the links to the ones I was just talking about lol:

Disappointed "top tier" mom.

lilmissvixen's recruitment

I remember reading that one because I wanted to read an Illinois one! I'm pretty sure it was the year that I did FR. One poster from U of I revealed that she was listing them in alphabetical order from the recruitment book, because when she listed them she put "Codename - This is an engineering sorority, we didn't even visit it". It was only half of them though, because no one QFP'd the other half. You better believe I matched them all up to see what she had to say when I found that out! lol Verrrrry interesting.

ETA: Thanks for the link KSU. Yep, definitely the year I went through FR. And oddly enough, I did have a junior in my group........although I don't THINK it was her...

KSUViolet06 01-09-2010 09:18 PM

Add to the list, any thread that says ANYTHING negative about retro rush threads!

The rush thread addicts take them WAAAAY too seriously and the thread will probably trainwreck.

See this thread (posted during what was the FOURTH or so straight summer of retro threads).

Most people don't get that people have been doing them for awhile and their story is not that interesting.

That one's my favorite, but it was quite sad. "My daughter's really happy, but I'm embarrassed that she's not popular"

You know that you and I just sit here and shake our heads whenever a suspicious thread comes up.

I remember that one. I stepped away for a few minutes and came back to a TKO. Banned person always was good for a few laughs (and as a punching bag)

Gusteau 01-09-2010 09:25 PM

Ahhh - I forgot about the "kitchen GCers" lol

KSUViolet06 01-09-2010 09:27 PM

Link to one of the "omg why is everyone sooooooo mean to the PNMs?" threads that got locked:

Why are PNMs constantly demonized here?

YESSSSSS!! I mentioned this thread in chat like 10 minutes ago! How I <3'ed Tippie for creating this thread.

Psi U MC Vito 01-09-2010 09:29 PM

Any thread with the OP having a bad case of founderitis. Also the threads were somebody either asks for or tries to share ritual info.

33girl 01-09-2010 09:33 PM

Many, many, many of the AI threads...however, these don't even come close to the trainwreck that was Gamma Chi. I often make bad decisions in my life; however, choosing to stay completely out of that HAM was the best online decision I have ever made.

KSUViolet06 01-09-2010 09:33 PM

That thread by Scandia who was all up in arms over a homeless man (or something like that) wearing a GLO hat and wondering what she should do about it?

http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...d.php?t=101690

She got offended when the answer was (generally) mind your business and don't be super rude.

Pretty much.

I mean, I'm pretty sure if you want a trainwreck, all you have to do is go into AI and scroll down a couple of pages (unless those got deleted).

I wasn't around for Gamma Chi, so some of my earliest memories of trainwrecks are from the AI forum.

And along those lines, the thread by Amalia17 (which she unfortunately edited) where she freaked out about someone wearing pink & green turtle pants who wasn't a DZ. The neat thing was that it turned into a hilarious fun bonding thread for everyone else.

This wasn't a trainwreck, but didn't it spawn off of one?

The Pageant Title thread

moe.ron 01-09-2010 10:07 PM

The classic can't be beat:

The V's and Fred Hatchett

agzg 01-09-2010 10:33 PM

I went back through my subscriptions and read a bunch of the aforementioned trainwreck threads when I was home sick and bored on Thursday.

Tanika or whateverherfacewas was pretty entertaining though. It had been a while since I'd seen a true trainwreck like that live.

True story. I did that, and a girl deleted her thread.

I got e-yelled at by like 4 people because of it.
