The WORST remake....
 

As kinda a spin-off from "the best remake" thread, what's the worst remake you've ever heard??

Don't get me wrong, I like Mary J. Blige, but she turned my stomach when she tried to remake Aretha Franklin's "Natural Woman." Actually, there have been a-many of artists to sing that song, and although Aretha's not the first...I think she's the best.

The worst remakes I have ever heard are:

1. When Doves Cry ~ Ginuwine

2. The Beautiful Ones ~ Mariah Carey & Joe

3. There was an old Prince song that TLC remade and the name escapes me, but I remember thinking to myself that it was horrible.

I have come to the conclusion that you cannot remake many of Prince's songs because he writes them for himself.

Mariah and Joe remade Keith Sweat's "Make It Last Forever" and Mariah and Sisqo remade "The Beautiful Ones".

Meli'sa Morgan (why did she spell her name like that? an apostrophe instead of an 's'?? what a dork) remade prince's "do me baby" and it SUCKED!!

The worst remake :"Do I Do"-Ja Rule and Case (I'm not a big fan of case). They butchered one of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs. Maybe if they had let Donell Jones sing the chorus, I would like it better.

I also can't stand Mariah's remakes of Make It Last Forever or I Still Believe.

Didn't like Allure's remake of "All Cried Out".

Donnell Jones - Knocks Me Off My Feet by Stevie wonder He butchered that song (with his no talent azz!).

I love Stevie, and that was my favorite song of his. Mr. Mocha and I danced our first dance off of that song at the wedding. And he had the nerve to remake it with his &^@#$#$@% ..... Okay, that's enough.

Moving on...

Usher and Monica - Slow Jam. HUH:o :confused: :o :confused: ?

The absolute worst: Mariah Carey (seems her name comes up a lot under worst remakes) and Luther Vandross: Endless Love :mad:

Yes, that "All Cried Out" remake was horrible, as was Slow Jam.

Whomever remade "Ribbon in the Sky" (K-Ci, JoJo?)?? It was bad.

I'm sure there are other really bad ones that will come to mind.

I actually liked Donnell Jones' version of Knocks Me Off My Feet, but I absolutely HATED Tevin Campbell's version of that song, it was horrible. I agree with you on Usher and Monica's Slow Jam.

Puffy's version of Public Enemy #1
It was done by Public Enemy and when Puffy remade it, it was a mess!!!

What album is the Donell Jones "Knocks me off my feet" remake on?

She remade this with Cisqo from Dru Hill for her '97 Butterfly CD. Is there another one with Joe?

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Wasn't that the remake for "Thank God I Found You?'' The original "Thank God I Found You" was done with 98 Degreez (and Joe).

It was pretty bad but I didn't expect much from Tim Burton.

I cannot stand Beyonce and Luther vandross remake of Robeta Flack and Donnie Hathaways " The Closer I Get To you."

Destiny's Child sang "Amazing Grace" on one of their albums I didin't like it at all.

Speaking of Beyonce, I can't stand her and Jay's remake of Tupac's Me and My Girlfriend.

Intro (featuring the late Kenny Green). For reasons I cannot go into on the board, I still cannot listen to that version of the song!

It was horrendous and he lost a lot of cred as far as many REAL hip hop heads are concerned. He took a figurative (and "poetic") reference from 'Pac and made it into a literal gooblygob of R&B gibberish.

I'm not too fond of....

It sounds like he's trying too hard.
I don't like it too much either. NOTHING can compare to 2Pac's version.

I acually loved ms. morgan's rendition. jamie foxx's recent hit with mary j. 'love changes', originally done by mother's finest, was butcherd. speaking of k-ci, I wanted to shoot him dead when he remade bobby womack's original 'If you think you're lonely now'. I mean k-ci copied all of bobby's nuances and inflections in the song. make it your OWN.

Michael Bolton is the WORST offender
 

Michael Bolton remakes songs that were done right the first time. He remade "Sexual Healing" :eek: :eek: That sh*t sounds horrible.

I've never seen the original Omen, but it has GOT to be better than the remake with Julia Stiles....

I don't give a crap if she did have Al Green in the video...she shouldn't be singing that song...PERIOD!!!

It was. ;) Part I and II were the best Omens. That crap with Julia Stiles and that silly looking little boy was a waste of time and money.
