I feel bad for DG's everywhere that these girls would do this. I'm very glad I'm at a school where greek life is so small that issues like this haven't come up too much.
My friend is a DG. I feel so bad.

I cannot believe these women could actually be UF DGs.

In fact, I REFUSE to believe it (please God, don't let them be actual DGs). There is so much sorority slander and profanity...I hope that no one would be this stupid. The comments look funny, I'm going to go watch them.

ETA: Okay...so if they are, it seems (based on the lyrics) they may be from the latest pledge class. They have balls (whoever they are) to go stand in front of the letters on other chapters' houses and lipsync to their profane song while bouncing around like that.

I didn't see the original, I saw it with commentary from a guy which made it better.

That is the one that I saw....it was pretty funny with his commentary.

Because I doubt that any other group would degrade their OWN sorority just to make the DGs look bad.

Second, I don't think there is any question that these girls will face some sort of disciplinary action. In fact, I would not be surprised if it is steep enough to include revoking their membership. Can you imagine one of these idiots actually being on the floor during rush next year?

Me too. While watchng, I was floored by how absolutely STUPID they were to put that on video. Let's hope that there are some pins pulled after this fiasco. Especially after seeing the blatant disrespect in front of the other sorority houses.

They opened themselves up for a lot of ridicule. I don't think they will get the effect they wished for with this one. Seriously...if you're really that great, do you have to flip off the AOII house to prove it?

Exactly, I think this stems from how women perceive sorority membership and how we govern ourselves in regards to the NPC. Even if we dislike the XYZs or the ABCs we try and keep each other accountable for how our behavior affects other NPC groups, as it reflects on us as a whole. This isn't to say we don't say things about another group but we do it privately and try and promote sororities and greek life as a whole.

In juxtaposition men's groups do whatever they want in regards to colonization and recruitment, and if one fraternity did this [I]maybe[I] the local IFC would care, but they aren't of a culture of working together and having a group that has unanimous agreements everyone follows. It would likely be labeled "boys being boys" and still not regarded as a bright idea, but not as offensive, insulting, or tacky.

This is further tied to gender socialization behavior and expectations as women are expected to be nice and be kind, in an idea of sisterhood that we need to unite to better women as a whole, though we are likely to rip each other down. If men made a video with the same words discussing women's groups it would be offensive, but not a backstabbing act against other women, and therefore as outrageous as this is.

I'd find men doing this just as dumb, and a way to alienate a sorority (or more) that would socialize with them. Whereas the women here (all three of them) have embarrassed their chapter and school, but it likely won't affect men choosing to partner with them outside of sanctions against official events. It will probably not hurt them in recruitment either if they are still having events with perceived top men's group, though other sororities and people who see this elsewhere will have a negative connotation for awhile. Women have far more to lose overall with this behavior than men, but everyone should realize recording this is dumb and like a sex tape it will get out and there will be consequences even if you weren't involved.
