Actress Brittany Murphy dies

This sucks. :(

WinniBug 12-20-2009 03:38 PM

What the hell?
That's horrible!

AOII Angel 12-20-2009 03:47 PM

OMG...what's up with so many young actors dying this year? We'll have to wait and see what was in her system. No one dies of cardiac arrest at age 32 from natural causes.

LXA SE285 12-20-2009 03:47 PM

Actually, I never saw her more recent stuff, but I loved her in Clueless, Drop Dead Gorgeous, and King of the Hill.

I would put my money on cocaine, or perhaps (to a lesser extent) Clenbuterol.

Psi U MC Vito 12-20-2009 03:55 PM

Maybe she had an underlying heart condition. Not likely I know, but possible.

LXA SE285 12-20-2009 04:06 PM

I think she may have had an eating disorder too.

Maybe...but still not natural causes.

Psi U MC Vito 12-20-2009 04:07 PM

Well if she has a bad heart, discounting any possible relation to drugs, it is natural.

I guess my point is that 32 year olds don't just have cardiac arrests. "Natural causes" are usually thrown around to imply that someone died of run of the mill old age, etc. Dying of an undiagnosed cardiac anomaly wouldn't really fall into that category. The same could be said for dying from a cardiac arrhythmia brought about by longstanding eating disorders. This isn't really considered "natural causes." I see what you are saying, though. It's really unlikely that a cardiac anomaly was the cause of her death, but before I assume that she was high or under the influence of alcohol, I guess we should wait for the autopsy.

Her ex Tweets about her death:

32 with heart attack...something doesn't sound right...

WVU alpha phi 12-20-2009 04:30 PM

Sad news, I liked her in Just Married. I'm going with cocaine as the cause of death on this one.

I know!!! It's so awful, she was really young to die of something like that.

That was my first thought.

Facebook is lit up--as more people find out, more people update their statuses with Clueless quotes. I see about 3 "I hope not sporadically" and 2 "Rollin' with the homies :p

WinniBug 12-20-2009 04:41 PM

Anorexia?

Bulimia is more likely to give you heart problems.

LXA SE285 12-20-2009 04:49 PM

I had no idea what she looked like these days until I saw this. Poor thing.

This is so sad. I liked her in both Just Married and Clueless. I would also think that drugs may have played a part in her death.

However, 2009 has to be the worst year for Hollywood in regards to losing so many talented actors/actresses and entertainers. Would anyone else agree?

honeychile 12-20-2009 05:06 PM

Other than Uptown Girls, I was never a huge fan of hers - but she was still much to young to die!

After looking at the slide show, I'm guessing bulemia with or without cocaine. It's still surreal, how many young people are passing away.

ree-Xi 12-20-2009 05:54 PM

I saw her recently in a very bad made-for-tv disaster movie (also starred Eric LaSAlle from ER), and she looked very thin and sickly to me. I also read that she was either fired or left a film production filming in Puerto Rico at the beginning of the month (rumored behavioral conflicts).

Whatever the reason or her (presumed or lack of) talents or success, dying at 32 is tragic.

KSUViolet06 12-20-2009 06:04 PM

I absolutely loved her in Clueless and Drop Dead Gorgeous.

How sad.

As far as causes, if she had an eating disorder like anorexia, it could easily have led to a cardiac arrest.

I agree with your mother. Both Anorexia and Bulimia can cause heart problems and any organ problems.

xxstardust 12-20-2009 06:35 PM

She's been rumored to have suffered from an eating disorder for a long time.

If she did, it's often a combination of the two and takes a serious toll on the heart. I've lost a friend far too young, to a heart attack, in the same situation - and my prayers go out to her family right now.

texas*princess 12-20-2009 07:22 PM

So sad to see someone so young pass away.

There was something on TMZ (I think?) where her mom said Brittnay suffered from diabetes?

kddani 12-20-2009 07:47 PM

I think I remember seeing something within the past month or so about her being ridiculously difficult on set and possibly getting kicked off a movie because of it. I had also heard drug rumors.

lovespink88 12-20-2009 08:02 PM

Wow, so young, how terrible!

Ditto what OTW's mom said. I'm always pretty clueless about celebrities so I had no idea about her having an eating disorder. I was pretty shocked when I saw that picture^^^

Leslie Anne 12-20-2009 08:41 PM

I'm really saddened by this. I really liked her. There was such a vulnerable quality about her. Her poor family. Sad.

Rest in peace, Brittany.

ASUADPi 12-20-2009 09:08 PM

Quite honestly I was shocked to read this on Yahoo. She was so young!

I'm so tired of hearing about young actors and actresses dying.

I'm gonna have to go with what others said and guess that an eating disorder was a "part" of her dying so young.

I read that the police are investigating, so I'm sure an autopsy will be performed.

She was filming a movie and either got kicked off or quit like the first week of December.

I didn't dig her movies so much but she was a PERFECT Luann. It takes smarts to play a character that dumb even if it's just the voice.

FHwku 12-20-2009 09:46 PM

i liked her as Luanne Platter.

honeychile 12-20-2009 10:25 PM

She was married? I just an article at huliq news (whatever that is) and it said that her husband, Simon Monjack, was refusing an autopsy, but the LA coronor has overruled him. It also states that her mother said Brittany was a diabetic.

Curiouser and curiouser...

ETA: Simon Monjack sounds a bit, well, sketchy.

I was reading an article about her death that said she had a heart murmur. I don't know if that can cause heart attack though.

I just bought & saw "Little Black Book". I loved the movie & her in it. I especially like it because no one ends up all married &/or in love at the end.

Still, a tragedy.

pomplemousse12 12-20-2009 10:33 PM

I just read that her husband doesn't want her body to be autopsied...I definitely thought that was kind of sketchy. I also read that her mom told the EMTs that she had a history of diabetes, so that's something I never knew.
It's so sad =[

I hate to say "most actresses", but would need to say many actresses have eating disorders.

I was reading an article today on Emily Blunt and she said that during the filming of Devil Wears Prada, that she and Anne Hathaway were prohibited from eating on the set because their characters had to be thin. We all hear of peer pressure but that is rediculous.

I read once that Courtney Thorne-Smith left Ally McBeal because the directors were constantly telling the women other than Calista Flockhart that they were "obese".

Hmm that is sketchy, but the ME has the right to order an autopsy if it is under suspicious circumstances. A 32 yeah old women dying of cardiac arrest would qualify.

Oh Tai.

Maybe you should have taken advice from virgins who can't drive.
