Alph sigma Phi (High school fraternuty)
I was in Alpha sigma phi in the 80s. A high school fraternity. Long island ny.
|
Alph is a Greek letter?
Better yet, what's a fraternuty? |

the consistent "Alph" boggles my mind...
In a somewhat related anecdote, high school fraternities (fraternuties?) were all over Long Island back then. My uncles were both in one, but it didn't have greek letters. I've never heard of a high school Alpha Sigma Phi around here. |

My first taught is that maybe they meant Aleph and kept misspelling it.
|
Nope, I looked it up... according to... Wikipedia and other forums, it's a legit high school fraternity. Talk about some solid sources, though.
|
Look at that...they have a facebook group
|
I think their coat of arms was made in paint.

What is the point of HS fraternities anyway? I mean if the OP is anything ot go buy they need to spend more time learning and less time socializing.

Do you mean knights?
Do most high school Alph Sigs end up staying in Long Island to keep the name known by all getting jobs at the local Taco Bells and gas stations? |

So college fraternities are gay yet you base your org on a college fraternity. Your logic escapes me.
|
No, college fraternities aren't gay! WE went gay in order to join them!

See?
And this is how I know you're still in high school (and probably will be for a while). One step closer to spelling fraternity right, though! Now we just have to get the plural form down! F-R-A-T-E-R-N-I-T-I-E-S |
It's funny, one of my closest friends is an Alpha Sig. I think I will ask him if he ever heard of these clowns.

I would imagine a high school fraternity would experience a ton of senseless hazing, though. |
y'all must have been bored to waste time with this idiot. |

You know, I just realized the OP said he was an Alpha Sig in the 80s. The fact that he talks like an 8th grader makes me lose faith in our society even more.
And the fact that there's no history as to how or when the high school Alpha Sigs started says a lot about the organization. |

I'm praying this is a joke and that no self-respecting adult speaks, writes or acts like this. Please, Robm1093 tell me you did not attend Penn State (if you attended college, at all). I would hate to think that the name of my Alma Mater could be tarnished by someone of your caliber. If you were high school in the 80s, I have to ask: Did you actually "graduate" from high school? If so, I must know what school this was so I know never to send my children there. |

And I just went back and read his original post. He obviously edited it from how it originally read. "Alph" now = Alpha, and "fraturnity" now = fraternity. But look at how many things are still wrong, even after his editing: Quote:
Robm1093, you're an idiot. |
I'm surprised he hasn't gotten shot...by a deer...

Almost. |
You should know that these high school fraternities are banned in Long Island high schools because they essentially turned into gangs, which you may have been able to tell from looking at the facebook groups. If they still continue recruitment, they prey on high school drop outs and graduates who are not going to college, you can tell by the OPs attitude towards college and college fraternities that this is the case. It's sad, and its definitly not the greek experience any of us have had.
And 33girl - you always find the best stuff LOL. |

See, I had a feeling the REAL Alpha Sig had nothing to do with these guys. Though on the wikipedia page on HS fraternities, they claim the same founding date as Alpha Sig.
