For Those Who Love the Beatles...

(...And I know you're out there!)

Did you indulge in the recent rush to get the newest cds or any of the other Beatle games?

I was given the Beatles based Trivia Pursuit for my birthday (among other goodies, I might add). I've scored as high as 97 on one of the hardest Beatles quizzes online, and was shocked at the depth of the questions! Did anyone else really, honestly know what Ringo's home address was when he was a child? Yikes! I'd love to hear other opinions.

Um that seems kind of stalkerish to me. *backs away slowly*

I love the Beatles, but I didn't know about the Trivia game. Great thread! :)

I know that Michael Jackson gave the rights to the Beatles back to Paul McCartney.

When did that happen? I remember reading somewhere within the past few months (before MJ's death) that Paul was still upset about that. I also read about that MJ's estate still included the rights to the songs.

I saw it on ET.:o

Michael Jackson sold it to Sony who in turn gave the rights to both Paul and Ringo. Because of that, they were able to make the Beatles: Rock Band.

Psi U MC Vito 10-05-2009 04:23 PM

I was wondering about that. They didn't give George's rights to his estate? Because I know that Dhani was the main force behind the game.

Yea, Dhani was the one who suggested it to Harmonix, Olivia Harrison, Paul, and Ringo.

I've picked up Rubber Soul and Revolver so far. Haven't gotten Rock Band, but my boys are trying to convince me almost daily that it would be a good investment. I think one or two suites on oldest's son dorm floor have the video game, and it's been quite the community builder!

Would LOVE the Trivial Pursuit game. My birthday is in just over a month, so maybe I'll also be so spoiled.

Senusret I 10-05-2009 07:41 PM

I almost bought the box set.

Then I remembered I don't like the Beatles all like that.

:)

KSUViolet06 10-05-2009 07:46 PM

My brother just bought Rock Band. I love it.

I decided against the boxed sets because I already have a couple of compilations.

I am trying to talk my dad into taking me to see Love again in LV for my birthday. We'll see.

carnation 10-05-2009 08:11 PM

Me, age 9 or so, having heard people talk about them:"Who are the Beatles, Mom?"

My mother:"Oh, just this group of long-haired English boys. They'll never last."

honeychile 10-05-2009 11:39 PM

I didn't know about the Michael Jackson > Sony > Paul, Ringo, Dhani (?) deal. I'll have to google that later, because I've been thinking that MJ's estate was making a mint on this.

LOL - I have Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Sgt. Pepper so far. I just wish I could get the single (fast) version of Revolution on one of them!

Which reminds me - have y'all heard that the real Lucy from Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds is ill? Julian Lennon heard about it, and he's been helping her out during her illness. How cool is that?

I do hope you get the Trivial Pursuit game for your birthday, but please be warned that it's hard! My biggest problem is finding someone to play it with me! There's a good online quiz at http://www.bagism.com/cgi-bin/quiz.cgi that you can enjoy in the meantime. It should prepare you for the game! :D

LOL - my grandmother once told my brother he was going to hell for wearing a "Beatles suit". It took us all a long time to realize she was psychotic.

Did Sony sell the rights to Apple Corps or just to the two surviving members directly? All I have is Sgt Pepper, though I plan on buying either Abby Road or The Beatles.

All I have is Magical Mystery Tour. I'm hoping to get more, though.

Unfortunately, Lucy passed away last week.

I hope it's hard, because I love spouting off random and minute Beatles trivia. Also it would be the one game I'd actually enjoy playing! LOL!

tifferini 10-06-2009 05:55 PM

I'm pretty sure Sony BMG gave the rights to Paul and Ringo, but they probably also gave the rights to Olivia Harrison and the Witch (aka Yoko Ono).

I have all the Beatles albums (the remastered versions) and I also have a few of those old records (Sgt. Pepper, and other stuff I don't really remember).

It's intense! I don't have the game in front of me, but I remember the one question dealt with Ringo's house number where he grew up! I was happy that I knew the neighborhood!

First off: Happy Birthday John Lennon, we miss you.

I haven't bought any of the new CDs yet, but I did buy Magical Mystery Tour on DVD. I've never seen a Beatles Trivia game, it sounds like fun. I love Beatles trivia too. Sadly, I don't have Beatles Rockband, but I am taking guitar lessons.

Have you tried the Bagism quiz yet? :D I actually found a mistake on one answer! I have to think about it, but the quiz gives the correct response as one Beatles, but an interview of John gives another. Thank you for remembering his birthday!

Oh, I've only seen the Beatles Trivial Pursuit at Best Buy, but it will probably be available everywhere soon. Magical Mystery Tour was the first Beatles movie I ever saw, but I now see why A Hard Day's Night is considered the Citizen Kane of pop films. (But MMT is so much fun!)

I have tried the Bagism quiz and parts of it are brutal! I can't remember my exact score, but I need to brush up on my solo years trivia. Thanks for sending me the link. :)

I always celebrate the Beatle's birthdays, although maybe I should have said "Happy Birthday to John and Sean Lennon!"

ETA: I found out last night that there's a street not far from my hometown called "Abbey Road," how cool is that?
