part of me is super hooked and will be an obsessed fan, a la Lost and 24 fans.

a bigger part of me wants to hate it because its kinda cliche and the acting is a little corny. and a little creepy - all but one person blacks out for over 2 minutes? and all this chaos, but cell phones work?

i really wish i knew what April 29, 2010 was. aside from it being the first day of spring sweeps, according to Twitter.

p.s. John Cho and Seth McFarlane FTW. but fail on random kangaroo.

I'm kinda on the same page as you. I tuned in and part of me wanted to not like it because I'd seen way too many ads - way too much hype for this ahead of time. And I don't watch that much television. Figured I'd watch this episode, think it was supercheesy and be done. But, as the first episode developed and the female FBI agent (can't remeber her name) was watching the video tapes that was when I got sucked in. So, I'll watch it again next week and see what happens.

nikki1920 09-24-2009 11:28 PM

I didnt really see the hype, but USAToday gave it a good review, so I watched it. I THOUGHT that was Seth McFarlane (Stewart Gilligan Griffin??!! lol). I really really liked it. And yes huge FAIL on the random kangaroo TWICE in the same episode.

but how did Harold pull Gabby Union??!! lol

Hey, Harold would get it! He's kinda cute.

I liked it. But then, I also liked Lost at the beginning

DaemonSeid 09-25-2009 07:33 AM

Yeah, this is easily another Lost and I hope they don't take years telling this story.

You got all the elements.

People have something mysterious happen

They wake up all of a sudden to catastrophe

Strangers interlinked by a common mysterios bond.

All we need now is a bunker and a button.

Yea I agree...I really interested and I hope the writers dont screw it up for me because they feel like dragging it out for 6 seasons..and although I LOVE LOST, its a good thing its over next year because I dont think I could take it anymore!

Add in some random numbers and it sounds like a real match! (I didn't watch FF, so I can only assume based on what's been posted here. But the random kangaroo sounds too similar to LOST's random polar bear.)

So a few of my friends and I were talking about FF, and we all thought it looked real promising (although none of us watched the premiere, probably because we were out to dinner when it came on..lol) But someone brought up an interesting question. Just based on the previews and such, don't you think FF would have been better as a movie?

I mean, at least you'd get the high intensity, "thriller" type feeling, instead of having it drag out for 50 million seasons.

AOII_LB93 09-25-2009 07:15 PM

I agree with everything said about the correlation with LOST. They even had a billboard up for Oceanic Airlines.

It was ok, I'll watch again.

Kappamd 09-25-2009 08:23 PM

They are reshowing this right now and all I have to say is "wtf kangaroo?"

i SO agree! i was watching it the whole time like it was a movie, and was pissed when commercials would come on. maybe because it was the first episode and there was a lot of action?

another hour and it couldve easily been a movie.

ASTalumna06 09-25-2009 10:51 PM

I say the kangaroo escaped from the zoo. :p

Kappamd 09-25-2009 10:57 PM

I thought it was okay. Some seriously cheesy and overdramatic acting, but I may watch if they continue to reair on Fridays just to see what happens.

Now Modern Family, the show that came on afterwards......hysterical.

BabyPiNK_FL 09-25-2009 11:17 PM

As mentioned previously MANY shows would have been better off as movies or series where the end is planned early on. It's becoming a big problem and it's becoming more and more obvious newer shows.

How long can you keep people longing for each other apart (Glee/Ugly Betty, etc.)? How long can you ride out the basis of the show (Lost/Flash Foward)? How long can you save the world for (Heroes)? How long are you going to keep your main characters in college (Greek)? Etc.

These things are not well thought out because shows are just trying to survive the pilot, then the first season. Shows need to have long-term ideas or they are going to start failing miserably (or already have).

Greek got slick and made every season stretch over a semester vs a school year. so you could potentially get 8 seasons out of the current characters. no one is going to stick around that long to watch. having main characters start as juniors and freshmen was smart, but the way series last last these days, were lucky if we see Rebecca, Dale, Rusty and Calvin graduate.

I think this is what happened with most shows that have plot revolving around fixed time frames. SBTB went through middle and high school with much success, and then the college years fell the hell apart. the writers could plan up until Bayside's graduation, but then after, what, 6 years, they had to come up with somewhat new ideas, characters, etc. there's only so long that storyline could go.

this happened with most shows based in HS or college (im thinking Dawson's Creek, Felicity, One Tree Hill, which tried to be clever by fast forwarding a few years, but IMO that failed miserably - though im sure people still watch). You COULD have a rotating door of characters (kinda like most soap operas, which are Ford tough and last for DECADES) but that gets old too (Degrassi:TNG did this pretty well, they were able to do a successful spinoff from the original and integrate new characters/storylines)

this is what's happening to Grey's - this whole "we're merging with another hospital" bit, wherever the plot goes - is this an attempt to introduce new characters/storylines to keep the show going? because i think that would fail miserably. or is this Shonda's way of prepping us for the end? because as much as i love GA, i would be OK with cutting our losses at S6 and enjoying the run it had.

DSTRen13 09-26-2009 06:10 AM

I really wish that most shows WOULD plan on a fixed number of seasons and and have a firm ending in mind before they begin. TV would be so much better - there's no need for a show to keep going on forever just for the sake of going on forever. Tell your story, tell it well, and then move on.

Not to do a major hijack, but I'm so behind on Ugly Better, what characters are "longing" for each other but the writers are keeping them apart?

As for Greek, I remember reading a couple years ago that the actors only signed for like 5-6 seasons. So Greek will most likely end when college ends (for Cappie, Casey and Ashleigh). There is really no way Rusty and Dale can carry that show by themselves.

With FF, the way I see it is that when April 29, 2010 comes around next year, something better be happening that "day" on the show or the "flash forwards" defeat the purpose. But, when people know what might happen in the future, the future might change. Unbeknowstly changing the outcome with simple decisions in their lives. But I'm really into knowing why that 1 person didn't "pass" out and why everyone else did. I hope it doesn't take years for them to say "this was who was behind it". Although it would be interesting it if happened again because then, for me, it wouldn't be some naturally occuring phenonmenom (totally spelled that wrong, sorry).

That would be nice, but I doubt networks would let them do that, especially if the show is a "winner" in the ratings. But then again, shows that aren't winners in the ratings networks just keep continuing them and you think "omg why is this show still on" (ER, CSI to name a few).

For me, what would be nice if if networks would make the decision to can a show in advance, instead of after the show has aired their "season" finale. Then the fans are the ones that are screwed. You are all excited because the finale left you hanging then you find out "oh we have cancelled that show". (If I sound a bit bitter two shows I watch were cancelled like that, Terminator and The Unit).

same here...thanks guys!!

ANY OLD WAYS...what did you all think of the show.

How about John Cho thinking he was going to die and the cop who has the same visiona dn she dies during the show?

Now...my question is...what happened to all those people who were already (normal) asleep at the time when the mass black out occur? Did they have weird visions and wake up right afterwards or did they stay asleep and awke later with the visions in their heads?

and yes...this may be stretching...I wonder if animals were affected....LOL

I kinda saw the cop getting shot coming..but still very creepy!

I would think that if you were asleep at the time of the blackout (it was at 11am..so probably alot of college students were snoozing lol), you still had a vision...but maybe they will explain that soon.

I loooove this show!!

ASUADPi 11-28-2009 12:06 AM

Anyone else still watching?

Now that it has gotten further into the plot of the show, I'm really starting to enjoy it.

I'm kind of thinking that Simcoe and Dylan in the flash foward might have just been staying at the house, not that Simcoe and the wife (what is her name?) are together?

I was quite shocked about that guy committing suicide (what was his name?).

My only question is really how is the show going to continue after the April 29th date? Will there be another blackout for them to investigate? Kind of wondering where the writers will take it.

I was concerned, thinking the show had gotten the ax from ABC, but when I was at the grocery store this evening Joseph Fiennes was on the cover of TV Guide about Flash Foward, so that's a positive sign.

twinkle555 11-28-2009 01:24 AM

Im still hooked..I also was surprised that one FBI agent killed himself..didnt see that one coming at ALL!

Mark is getting on my nerves though for real lol

Seriously! I had to love when Olivia called him out on his crap. You know, giving her grief about "what" might happen in her flash foward but wanting "chances" for the fact that he was drinking in his. I'm sure Olivia has put up with a lot concerning his drinking too.

Next week is a new episode. yeah.

IlovemyAKA 11-28-2009 08:57 PM

I'm not as into it as I was when it first started, but I caught a few episodes this week. I think I'm only 2 behind now.

I'm only 1 behind if it didn't air on Thanksgiving.

ASTalumna06 11-28-2009 10:01 PM

I just caught up with the last few episodes, and I was going to ask if anyone was still tuned in...

I'm still not sure how I feel about the show yet, but now I HAVE to keep watching.

The one thing that bothers me is that the main character (Mark?) is following the investigation according to pictures on the wall in his flash forward, and he puts them up in the exact same place and position. If it were me, I'd want to put them in different places. Just because :D
