www.GreekConcepts.com = BAD SERVICE, BEWARE!

If your chapter is looking for Theme Party, Homecoming, Bid-Day, Social or Rush T-Shirts, I urge you to look elsewhere when purchasing your shirts. www.GreekConcepts.com is the place that my organization bought their Homecoming T-shirts from, and we are very disappointed.

First, the order was supposed to arrive on the Monday of Homecoming week, and they arrived on Friday. Homecoming was basically over by that time. That sucks, but its not the end of the world...until.

Secondly, they shorted us 5 shirts and then denied that we ordered them in the first place. So, we had to re-enforce our order by re-sending them the e-mail with the final counts. We are still waiting for the shirts today.

Third, many of the shirts were off centered, or crooked. Who wants to wear a shirt when the 'centered' logo is on the right or if the picture/letters run downhill? Not me.

Fourth, many of the T-Shirts have ink splattered on them. The yellow has red and black ink in it....etc.

Fifth, of the bad T-Shirts mentioned above, they WILL NOT REPLACE THEM, because they said "That just happens". Not a good answer in my book!

And Sixth, anyone who tells me "I have 5 non-English speaking men back there making these T-Shirts" does not deserve my business, or anyone elses.

Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that we changed the saying on the back of the T-Shirt before they were made with plenty of time, and we still received them with the wrong logo. We verified this order 2 times with them, and it was still wrong.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Thanks for your support.

UPDATE

Here is an update on our T-Shirt ordeal, and it gets worse.

The agreement was that we would pay 1/2 of the bill via credit card, receive the T-shirts and then pay the second 1/2 after. Well, they charged the credit card for the first 1/2, then 2 weeks later (2 weeks before the shirts arrived) they DOUBLE charged the second 1/2.

The man said today, the reason why they automatically charge the account is because "THEY DO NOT TRUST FRATERNITIES AND SORORITIES".

I believe it is against the law for any company/person to charge a credit card without the permission of the owner. Can someone please verify that for me?

I urge all of you, DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

How can they say "We don't trust fraternities and sororities" when we are their business?

I am completley amazed at this company, I have never had worse service.

Charging credit card without permission

ZZ kai,

Wow, talk about a bad experience! I feel for you.

You're absolutely right. A company can NOT charge a purchase to a customer's credit card without that person's permission. I'm not a lawyer, so I can't tell you what to do about it, but I do know that it is not legal for them to do that!

I have a friend who is a lawyer. I'll e-mail her and see if you have any way to seek legal action against this company. I'll keep you posted!

In the Greek Bond,
Carrie

AKAtude 10-10-2001 05:01 PM

Ouch! How awful.

My husband had a similar problem with our limo company from our wedding. They charged his credit card without his permission - twice! He did have his attorney handle it, and contacted the credit card company. We also filed a complaint.

I suggest you file a complaint with the state this company operates out of, and contact the credit card company! If that doesn't work, decide if you want to take legal action.

Wine&Blue 10-10-2001 05:05 PM

If nothing else, you should file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Thanks for the warning.

kimmykimmy 10-10-2001 05:14 PM

Oh yeah, you have a case that's for sure!

TECHNICALLY, a company CAN NOT charge your card until the merchandise is shipped. So they are royally in trouble.

I sent them an e-mail telling them how disgusted I am with their behaviour toward you.

I would not only write them a letter but cc the better business bureau, the State's attorney office, your House of Representative and your Senators. And write your credit card company too.

I am not kidding about sending all of this to all these people. Scare the living s**t out of these people. They deserve it and then some.

They are completely taking advantage of you and I can't stand people like that.

bruinaphi 10-10-2001 05:14 PM

You can contact your credit card company and dispute the charge entirely. They will send you a form that you will have to fill out and then supply them with copies of all of the correspondence b/w yourself and the company. They will investigate the charges and most likely credit you for the entire purchase if the products were not what you ordered. At the very least they should credit you for the double charge (unless the company can provide them with proof that you agreed to pay that much, etc.).

This service is provided by most credit card companies free of charge and is one of the reasons that most people use credit cards for major purposes.

Good luck!

AGDLynn 10-10-2001 05:42 PM

GREEKconcept??

They obviously don't have a clue about GREEKs if they "don't trust fraternities and sororities"!

When they mean "greek" concepts, do they mean "it's greek to me...I don't have a clue????"

I think that the name of their company is definitely misleading!! :(

penguintpa_lady 10-10-2001 07:40 PM

i feel so bad for you, but everyone here has gave you great adive. & jsut to let everyone to i think there little T-SHIRT CONTEST is also a load of S*@T, cause i fill out that info out like in april & i never have heard anything from them & the web page says they have not even drew fro the RUSH t-shirts yet. gee, i think its a littel late now rush is over.
:(

Hey Bro.

They are loosers with a big L. LOL From what you said they definitely sound like they are frauds. At least how they do business. That is no excuse to claim just because we are in a fraternity that you will be charged extra. I cant imagine any terms/conditions that would support that. I agree with whats been said about contacting your credit card company and disputing the charges. I could see if it was a gas charge, a rental charge, or a hotel charge because sometimes they do charge a little over the amount. But T-Shirts? Double Charge? Cmon.
The second thing I would do is make copies of all the receipts which I'm sure you have done, document what the store people told you, and rifle off a letter to the state attorney generals office.
You might even go down to the local p.d./county sheriffs dept whichever is in your jursidiction and file a formal complaint. I would do this as soon as you can. I agree with Carrie if they do not have your permission and you didnt not sign to any terms agreeing to the charges then they have no right to charge you like that. They should really be giving you free business because they are loosing business as we speak. lol I hope it works out.
Keep me posted.

Yours in -KAI-

Kevin

Additional Info

It's sad when customers don't receive the service that one comes to expect. I truly hope that your chapter can recover the money lost due to the extra charges - or even get a full refund. However, I wouldn't count on it. I just checked the Better Business Bureau website at http://www.bbb.org

I looked up greekconcepts.com and found one listed with that name located in Hempstead, NY. Here is an excerpt from that BBB report:

--------

GreekConcepts.com
626 Fulton Street
Hempstead, NY 11550
866-374-7335

According to information in the Better Business Bureau's file:

This firm is a direct marketing company.

This firm has an unsatisfactory rating, which is the Bureau's lowest rating.

This firm has received 5 complaint (s) in the last 36 months. 2 of those 5 complaint(s) were received in the last 12 months.

This firm has a pattern of not responding to complaints brought to its attention by the Bureau.

Better Business Bureau reports are based on our files over the past three years. The company's size, volume of business and number of transactions may have a bearing on the number of complaints received by the BBB. The BBB does not endorse or
recommend any product, service, or company.

--------

So, according to this, your chapter isn't the first. I would highly reccomend that you file your complaint with the BBB *immediately*. Also file a complaint with the State of New York (State Attorney's Office?). These people should be out of business.

If you're feeling bad about what happened, Don't. No one could have predicted that this company was terrible. Come on, how often do any of us check the BBB before shopping somewhere? At any rate, I hope this extra info helps - the best of luck to you!

......Kelly :)

ZZ-kai- 10-12-2001 11:30 AM

Kelly,

Woooowww. I was totally unaware of the BBB and you could look things up like that. And, I am even more amazed at the feedback on that company. I will keep that in mind the next time we order T-Shrits, or do any business for that fact.

On a better note, we were notified today, that the double charge has been credited back to the credit card. The remainder of the bill will be paid by check, per the first agreement. So, that is good, but the bad taste is already in our mouths. Sucks for them, they lost a lot of business.

Thanks for your support.

ZZ-kai-

bruinaphi 10-12-2001 11:45 AM

Be aware of your rights as a consumer. You can still dispute the charge, even if they removed the double bill. I would refuse to pay them for the t-shirts: they were printed with the incorrect slogan, the slogan was crooked and they didn't come on time. I've never had a t-shirt company sue a chapter when the chapter rightfully refused to pay for the shirts. Offer to return them to them and don't pay for them if they are really that messed up!

ZChi4Life 10-13-2001 02:30 AM

That sucks!

And what sucks worse is that I recently ordered some stuff from them like 3 weeks ago! I'm so shocked to read this. If they mess up my order, I'm gonna be HIGHLY pissed off!! Man, now i'm worried that the order won't be right. And I ordered something that I could see them screwing it up if they are this careless! Man, everyone pray that my order is right! I'll keep ya'll updated...i should be receiving it sometime next week (if they send it like they said they would).

LeslieAGD 10-13-2001 08:25 AM

As purchasing chair for my chapter, I urge you all to use small, local screenprinters for chapter orders. They are cheaper, friendlier, faster, more reliable, and they actually care about your individual order. Also, you can go in and see the quality of their work.

I have had nothing but grief when dealing with larger screenprinters who are supposed to be "Greek-friendly" (aka - Greek 101 & Greek Lifestyles to name a few).

I am so sorry to hear about your situation and I hope that everything works out!

I strongly urge you to contact your state's attorney general. This company is out of controal and deserves to be pursued by the state authorities. Most states have consumer complaint divisions who can asist you in resolving the matter. I would not pay for the shirts, personally, considering the work was wrong, incomplete and substandard. I am an attorney who sed to work in a consumer advocacy position and I have gotten good responses by complaining to the right people.

ZZ-kai- 11-07-2001 04:22 PM

Just another update:

The money was credited back to the credit card....however, we still have no t-shirts. It took an e-mail with a threat of a lawsuit to get an answer from THE OWNER. He stated that the shirts are in production today, and you will have them by weeks end.

Its sad how some people do business, but I am happy that the owner is now aware of the problem.......and we will be getting our shirts.

SigmaChiCard 11-07-2001 04:28 PM

i went to their site and bitched em out via email for ya. he replied, just wanting to know who i am

ZZ-kai- 11-07-2001 04:34 PM

Thanks Sig! Miami Triad, baby! Anyways, I think forums like this will end up haunting a place of service like that. Word of mouth (or typing for that fact) spreads fast.

Miami, OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bruinaphi 11-07-2001 04:40 PM

I hope that you insisted that they replace the shirts that were crooked, etc. and that they take a major discount for the delay and hassle they've put you through.

ZZ-kai- 11-27-2001 04:55 PM

Put it in the books, folks! The shirts arrived today...........nearly two months after we needed them.

This place sucks my butt, do not take business to them!

dzrose93 11-27-2001 05:45 PM

Glad to know you FINALLY got your shirts! Sorry that you had to deal with that whole fiasco!

Hootie 11-28-2001 12:49 AM

I ordered a Chi Omega shirt from them and it arrived WAY later than promised. They charged my account, obviously, but I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever get my shirt!
The shirt finally arrived (I think the Chi O's on this site remember me complaining about the length) and it wasn't all that great! I'm glad you warned everyone. I had only 1 shirt and it took forever...I'd be SUPER pissed if I had a bulk order and it took that long!

Hello:

Sorry to hear about your t-shirts. We had a bad experience with Greek 101. We ordered pillow cases with turtles on them (our chapter mascot) but when they arrived they had roses on them. We called and they said that the pillow cases were pre-printed and we could only get the rose one's with Phi Sigma Sigma on them. HELLO: why did you let us order them in the first place???? Idiots!! They would not take the pillow cases back and the guy was a jerk. My friend told them she was going to tell every greek she new never to order anything from them. It was crazy!!! So I advise you all not to order from Greek 101 either!!!

ZZ-kai- 11-28-2001 09:09 AM

Sorry to psych you all out, but the order is still not complete. After going home yesterday and going through the order, we are still missing one XXXL shirt. So, practically the largest guy on campus is still missing his shirt. He is the last guy I would want to piss off, but I don't have to worry, hes my brother. Too bad that NY is so far away from WI, otherwise I'd send him to get his shirt.

I will keep everyone updated, because I want this to get as much traffic as possible.

I second that, smiles23!! I ordered a baby doll T-shirt from them with embroidered letters waaaaaaaaaaaay back in September. I still have not received it. Their customer service is the pits. I will never order from them again.

What really pisses me off is the fact that they want to get indignant when you check them on these issues. HELLO!?! I'm the customer!! I'm always right!! C'mon, they can't be that busy. Not with their service as bad as it is...

alphaxidelta12 11-29-2001 10:39 AM

greek 101

we ordered bid day t-shirts from greek 101 and they forgot to put the logo on like 10 of them. i mean how hard is it to make them all the same? they forgot like the most important thing on the shirt!? needless to say...they won't be called again!

ZZ-kai- 11-29-2001 10:37 PM

Alpha Xi,

My fiance, who happens to be an AXiD too, ordered their Formal Glasses from Greek 101. Well, they ended up sending some High School Prom glasses to our house...like 150 of them. They said, "Don't worry, just keep them...we'll send yours out right away"

After a month or so, they finally came. But, we were stuck with 150 HS prom glasses. ***Hint*** If you ever get glasses you don't want, take finger nail polish and disolve the ink on the glasses, then you don't have the logo/design on it anymore, just some nice champagne glasses. She ended up giving them out 2 per person, to her chapter. Oh well, free glasses.

Greek 101 sucks too!

Japera1920 11-30-2001 11:57 AM

I just sent you a private message. I live in the Hempstead area in New York. Repsonse soon as you can.

Thanks!

I was reading through all of your thoughts on this whole subject and I thought I'd like to share with you my experience with GreekConcepts.com...
I entered the free rush t-shirt contest and I was notified about 2 months ago that I won the 'runner' up prize... a $250.00 gift certificate to spend on anything at their store. Well, we were in need of some shirts for an activity and thought that this gift certificate would be the perfect answer...
YEAH RIGHT!
A man called me to tell me that he emailed me the gift certificates. However, he failed to explain that they were merely discounts! NOT FREE MONEY LIKE HE SAID!
In order for the 'gift certificate' to be valid we had to spent a minimum of $1,000.00 on a single product!
To say the least, we denied our 'prize' and found shirts elsewhere... what a RIP OFF!!!

Update...

Hello everyone,

I had posted on this thread earlier that I had ordered some jackets from Greek Concepts (before I knew about their issues).....needless to say, they f***** up my order :mad:

Not only did it take about 3 months to get them (they said it would take 3 WEEKS!!!), they put our letters on the wrong side of the jacket. I ordered the kangaroo pullover windbreakers and I wanted the letters to cover the pouch (and yes, I know this would mean the pouch would not be usable w/ the letters over it). Well they must have thought that what I wanted was wrong, so they put the letters on the back of the jacket!!! Um, if they thought what I wanted was wrong, why didn't they call me!!??

Well I'm planning on calling them on Monday to complain but I've decided to take my jackets to this greek store that I just found out about to get them fix them. I do not want to deal w/ GreekConcepts anymore....Lord only knows how long it will take to get the jackets back and fixed correctly if I send them back. But I will NEVER order from that place again.
Oh and Greek101 also sucks too! I've had problems w/ them before too. What's the deal w/ these greek stores!

Steeltrap 12-01-2001 10:09 PM

Appreciate warnings

Well, going through this thread, I'm warned about what NOT to deal with when it comes to 'nalia and the Internet. Good looking out, people. Thank you.

ZZ-kai- 12-10-2001 05:45 PM

Just wanted to keep this one visible.

Peaches-n-Cream 12-10-2001 05:52 PM

I found that sometimes it can be more effective to use a private tailor or seamstress for these unique orders. The price is usually comparable plus you will avoid the complications of a long distance order with someone you don't know or see. The problem is you have to make sure the person knows the Greek alphabet. Good luck!

ZZ-kai- 12-31-2001 01:51 PM

Hey everyone, just a quick update. My fiance received a postcard in the mail from the Better Business Bureau of New York. It states that they will be contacting the business (www.greekconcepts.com) on her behalf, and will be contacting her in the next 6 weeks with the findings of their investigation.

Don't fu*k with greeks, word spreads tooooo fast.:)

jess_pom 01-04-2002 01:53 AM

Just a heads up about Prographics.com.... We ordered Date Party T's from them and our letter appear NO WHERE on the shirt. Instead, we have these grayish-brown shirts with girls holding hands in a circle on the back, with a bunch of OTHER sorority's letter on them....and only 3 or so of the sororities are actually on our campus!!!

We contacted the company about the mistake, and they said that it was our responsibility because they sent a proof via email to be approved. The person in charge said that she did not see the other letters, but they were there when we got the shirts. I spoke with the guy for awhile, trying to get the mess straightened out, and then he threatened to charge me with harrassment!

To this day, we have the ugliest shirts known to man, and no one wears them. So much for "the customer is always right!"

jess_pom 01-04-2002 01:55 AM

Oh yeah, and our campus-wide greek week shirts were from Greek 101. We got them the last week of school, a month AFTER greek week. And they are sooooo thin, you can see right through them!!!

Does anyone know of a GOOD place to order through?
