eta: GI Joe and the 2nd Transformers were horrible. I forgot about those.

I don't think GI Joe and Transfomer 2 were ever rated high. Most people accept it as brainless fun movie with girls in tights and explosions everywhere.

As for Twilight, agree, sucks major ass.

Rent. I loved it and thought it was absolutely awesome...but a phenomenon that revolutionized American theater? Notsomuch.

The blue man group. River dance. Cirque de soleil.

Books or movies? If the latter, you get a pass (especially after the last movie). If the former, I seriously wonder about you. :p

Seriously? I really enjoyed the Blue Man Group show I went to. Then again, I also liked District 9, Harry Potter (the books, anyway), Star Wars, Top Gun and Survivor, all of which have made the "hated it" list.

I really wanted to like A Confederacy of Dunces, but just couldn't get into it for some reason. I wouldn't say I hated it, but I felt like it was overrated. I recently read The Appeal, and wish I could get back the time I invested in reading it, so I'm feeling like John Grisham is currently overrated as well. Based on the reviews I've read/heard about Dan Brown's new book, I'm afraid I'm going to feel like that was overrated, too. Can't comment on that one until I finish, though.

I don't go to the movies very much, but I do read quite a bit.

I thought that My Sister's Keeper was a great book, and the mediocrity of the movie appalled me.

I even find Cameron Diaz annoying after seeing that movie.

I'm usually not into anything that is terribly popular-- but saying that I do love Twilight (especially the books!) and SURVIVOR. (I almost skipped my wedding shower to watch it the first season! :eek: ) I've never read the Harry Potter books, but I'm thinking of giving them a read.

Agreed. I'm not done with them all (stupid school getting in the way of my reading...) but I think they're AMAZING! But yes the movies are just...meh.

I knew I was missing a lot. What I bolded in black, I agree with, all of those suck. Oh, and anything "reality show" sucks so bad. I hate reality shows, and now it seems like every channel has a reality show. Top Gun was o.k. kinda cheesy, though. I love all Star Wars movies, and everything Star Trek, though. You didn't like Sleepless in Seattle? I loved that movie.:p I don't really like the Superhero movies either. I just didn't bold that one, because some are not really that bad, I mean at least not like Batman. I hated that dumb movie.

I don't like anything Harry Potter. I watched the 1st movie with my friend and she knew I hated it, so she told me that I would like the book. She was like "Oh, you've got to read the book, it's so good." It sucked. I read the 1st 20 pages, thought it was dumb and boring so I put under my bed. That was about 4 or 5 years ago. It's still there. Oh, and all the dumb names. Dingledork, Mingledorf the wizard, (whatever their names are) etc. Oh, and the part when they were flying around on brooms...dumb...dumb...dumb.

I forgot about the dumb Harry Potter events they have at bookstores when another dumb book is about to be released at midnight. I'll ask "why all the costumes, what's going on?" and they say, "You didn't know? Everyone is waiting for their Harry Potter book." I'll be the only one there without a "Harry Potter" costume. So dumb.:rolleyes:

Not to double post, but I think the new Fame movie is going to be dumb too.

I hold a grudge against Forest Gump because I thought Shawshank or Pulp Fiction should have won Best Picture that year.

o.k. is there anything you and I can agree on? I didn't like that movie either.

Forrest Gump was predictable, saccharine and manipulative. ("Now, we're going to make you feel ____.") And no way was it best movie of that year.

And as for me not being normal for not liking soup, your comments on the Harry Potter books (sorry -- JK Rowling has the best knack for naming characters since Dickins) establish that you have forfeited any right to criticise what others consider "dumb." So there. :p

Harry Potter (okay while I love them, they were super overhyped and the last one totally didn't meet the hype. If that makes sense)

I personally was told that these books/series are awesome and I tried reading them and could not get into them. If a book doesn't grab my attention within the first chapter, I'm done reading.

The same actually goes for a movie and TV show for me. If it hasn't "grabbed" my attention within 15-20 minutes, I'm done watching.

I disagree with Eragon being Overhyped...it was Epic fail all the way thru

I kind of liked Eragon. I had to force myself through Eldest however and I doubt I'm even going to read Brisinger.
