Recruitment Pictures...
So we have seen the bid day pictures...let's see the recruitment pictures (like sisters dressed up for open house, philanthropy day, or preference night!). It'll be neat to see how the different chapters dress at different schools!

At first I couldn't find ANY pictures of recruitment. Then I realized they were all from other people's cameras cause I either a) didn't have a camera or b) was the Membership Chair!
This is Day 1 (Go Greek) at UC Santa Cruz Fall 08. Owl eyes! I was gonna ask someone to find me, but I'm not even sure I can find myself! I should be the only one wearing a watch, though. The arm thing/salute in the first DG house tour picture never gets old - I LOVE IT!
The DG in the same series with the red skirt with buttons and blue top is adorable! And the sand dollar name tags are so cute. Finally, the Chi O's in Lilly bring a tear to my preppy loving eye! I've noticed in many of the pictures girls have on the exact same dresses. Is this something that is mandated or is a coincidence? I can't even imagine having to place an order or find a dress that looks good on everyone! I think if I was a PNM at NCSU I would have had a tough time - they all look like amazing houses with wonderful women! |

If I remember correctly, I think our recruitment chair mentioned how it's a rule here that a chapter CANNOT make the sisters buy the exact same item of clothing for recruitment. I'm sure that's not the exact wording of the rule, but I'm pretty sure it's something along those lines. She mentioned that in recent years, two different chapters were fined for breaking that rule. One chapter made all the sisters buy those lettered flip flops, and the other required them all to buy the same denim skirt. We still have to wear certain color schemes and stuff, but I think the rule is that we cannot be told what exactly we have to buy. |

Ha! Back in the day, chil'ren, we ALL had to have the exact same clothes - for every day of recruitment. We had a "rush wardrobe" - as I recall, we wore our letters one day, our ever-so-kewl 50s style poodle skirts (which we made or had made) for skit day, our lovely off-the-rack dresses, and then the white pref dresses, which again we had made. In some ways it was a real nightmare.

We dress mostly the same. Things just have to be certain colors, lengths, or washes usually. I'm not really sure if it's considered frills or not, though.

At NCSU, most chapters wear the exact same thing for Skit Night (round 3) and preference (round 4). For Open House (round 1), and House Tours (round 2), they wear similar things, but not exact. For preference, most chapters have a seamstress come in and measure all the girls at chapter one night and then have the dresses made. Then they are passed down from Seniors to Freshmen...and new accessories are paired with them each year (different jewelry or ribbons, etc.).
For Skit night, bulk orders are usually made. I know the pink & blue dresses the DG's are wearing were bulk ordered (at a discount) from J Crew. DG (and Chi Omega) also required Jack Rogers this year (and last year too, I think). It can definitely get expensive, but things are ordered at a discount. |

Is this something that is discussed when NM are briefed on the costs of joining a sorority at the school? Obviously, dues and such would be - but is a "Recruitment Clothing" fee also discussed? Sometimes I WISH I would have went to a larger school with NPC rush! |
All of these pictures make me SO excited for rush! I'm attending a Southern California school and rush starts Wednesday. I cannot wait!

I don't have a ton of pictures from recruitment because we're usually running around the room, frantically getting ready! Here are a few I dug up, though.

DDD WSU Recruitment
This is a GREAT idea for a new picture thread!
At WSU we're moving towards the 'no frills' recruitment so our vice president of membership and recruitment chair pick the general colors and types of accessories for each day but we're on our own to buy our own clothes. We can get in major trouble (fines from Pan) if we bulk order items. However, the first 2 day of recruitment (know has Pan days) are a bit different, Panhellenic designs a shirt that each chapter wears, we have different colors but it's usually a shirt that helps promotes greek life in general and shows unity. We order these shirts in bulk but what we wear on the bottom, accessories, etc. still need to be different. Here are some pictures from our recruitment this year! I had so much fun finding bid day pics that I have spent (too much) time this fall facebooking to find recruitment pics to add to this thread! These are for Kansas State.
The first day for open house the chapters all wore some combination of jean/black/and/or white jeans/capris/or skirts on the bottom and black/purple/and/or white tops. Kappa did something with cardigans, ADPi wore regular Tshirts like the PNMs were instructed to do. Thetas wore black V necks. Several wore fitted purple Tshirts over white camis. The next two days kind of blend together on the pictures. Almost everyone did a day of bright solid color sundresses. KD and ADPi did a day of solid tops and black bottoms. Alpha Xi and Sig Kap did a day with navy or black patterned dresses. Theta and Chi O both used their colors on one day--Theta did yellow/white/black and the Chi Os all wore the same skirt in either red or yellow with white v neck tops. Cute! Kappas and Pi Phis went black on the third day--really dressy--with the Kappas accentuating with red. For pref, almost all the chapters wore black. Exceptions were Kappas (white), Pi Phis (wine) and ADPis (red). Apologies to the TriDeltas--I just didn't know anyone I could facebook stalk from your chapter yet! I got at least 3 days from each of the other houses. I love looking at other people's pics. I hope I don't bore you with mine! (I still haven't figured out why it is so much fun looking at pictures of people I don't even know?!?)
