Your LAST meal-Let's pretend

If you were on the "Green Mile", what would you want your last meal to consist of?

Steeltrap 10-08-2001 06:59 PM

Good topic.

Let's start with foie gras or sweetbreads for the appetizer.
A salad, made with arugula, hearts of palm, green onions and ripe olives.
Entree: Veal or beef tenderloin with wild mushrooms, such as morels.
Starch: Risotto (Italian rice dish).
Vegetable: Asparagus, of course. With lemon butter.
Dessert: Gateau St. Honore (cake filled with pastry cream and topped with caramel-covered cream puffs).

Cocktail: A Charbay Key Lime vodka gimlet.
Wine: Champagne, like Louis Roderer Cristal.

My late father was a gourmet cook. My mom and sister are gourmet cooks, too. I love to eat, fancy stuff. :)

Special1920 10-08-2001 07:10 PM

Hmmmm

Have no idea what Steeltrap is having for dinner.....but I'm having SOUL FOOD from beginning to end.

Sweet potatoes, Maconi&cheese, red beans and rice, dressing, fried and baked chicken, fried fish, potatoe salad, greens, hot water corn bread, banana pudding. Tall glass of coke

korkscru 10-08-2001 07:14 PM

Almost any and everything from Soul Food to Chinese Food. :D :D
I'd have so much on my plate that they would have to postpone my ending (that would be the motive). :D :D

ClassyLady 10-08-2001 11:43 PM

I'm assuming that there is no limit on the number of dishes, so here goes

Macaroni & Cheese
Jamaican style Ox Tails with Red Beans & Rice
Chicken and Dumplins
Fried Chicken & Waffles
Fried Fish and Grits
Collard Greens
Sweet Peas
Meatloaf & Mashed Potatoes
Smothered Pork Chops
Lamb Chops with Gravy
Yellow Rice with vegetables
Candied Yams
Corn Souffle from Piccadilly's (anyone in the southeast knows what I'm talking about)
Cornbread
Buttermilk Biscuits
Sweet Potatoe Pie
Cherry Cheesecake
Carrot Cake
Grape Kool-Aid

My last meal is going to last for about 36 hours. Anything to keep me from the chair for a little bit longer.

I was trying to quote but I did it wrong. What I was trying to say was that everything that Classy Lady put in her last meal would be in mine, only it would of been my last meal for a week, lol. I would have to add Krispy Kremes, and a meal cooked by Patti LaBell, I would to have some of her food!

aprilzeta 10-09-2001 12:31 AM

My last meal would consist of...

my Grandmother's Chicken pot pie(those not from eastern NC, Chicken N Dumplings), my Aunt Bren's macaroni & cheese and pineapple cake, fried cabbage, fried corn, and my mother's Sweet potato biscuits plus a Cherry Mountain Dew. Now my Jamaican side of the family---> Stewed Chicken, peas and rice, fried plantains, red beans and rice and a Fruit Cola.

vanda 10-09-2001 04:24 PM

Dang Yall!

Are you trying to bankrupt the jail at the same time? lol. Isn't it a $30 limit? I personally would love a deep dish pizza from Giordanos, a dozen Krispy Kremes, Ben & Jerry's Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, some popeyes chicken and dirty rice, a peach cobbler and a root beer to wash it all down.

DreamfulOne 10-09-2001 05:52 PM

OMG i was just talking to someone about this ysterday!!!

I would like it plain and simple. Fish sticks, mac & cheese (from the box) and either a brownie or a cookie. I don't think i would really be able to "enjoy" the meal so i would want something regular.

Her name is LadiBug...its pretty simple. Its a compound word. The combination of Ladi (I realized its mispelled, but please forgive me for that) and Bug. Is it against the rules to post on older posts? I don't believe I've seen that written anywhere. Have I offended anyone?

LadiBug, just post. Don't take anything personal, and just ignore me, I just come on here so I can laugh. Just being silly as usual, and I was just messing with you.

Be kool.:)

LadiBug 06-28-2009 12:30 AM

I appreciate that. Thank you.

GoodTimes 07-06-2009 04:29 AM

Well since the thread's been resuscitated for my hypothetical last meal i'd like

a nice fried catfish plate with
Some redbeans...imma need a bottle of Louisiana hot sauce
greenbeans
potato salad

and some blue koolaid (mix blue ras with lemonade...mm-mm!)

1stSoon2BePhD 07-06-2009 06:49 AM

this is a good thread :) good thing i was resuscitated!! if there is no limit:

dessert first! (for once in my life)
*chocolate mousse cheesecake from cheesecake factory, apple pie a la mode, and jell-o egg "jigglers"
honey-baked ham
mashed potatoes and gravy
sweet potato casserole
corn on the cob
spaghetti with Italian meatballs and mushrooms in the sauce
broiled salmon
orange chicken & steamed white rice

ok, so it's not a cohesive "meal" but these foods are representative of various points in my life and would suffice as a "last meal" :D

deepimpact2 07-27-2009 05:22 PM

Steak, shrimp, and fried rice cooked Hibachi style with lots of white sauce. Must come from Kabuto's in Richmond.

A vanilla cupcake from the Magnolia Bakery in NY

Stuffed tortellini in a sun-dried tomato alfredo sauce
My grandma's potato salad
Honey bbq boneless wings
Ben and Jerry Chunky Monkey ice cream
White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake from Copelands
