Project Runway Season 6

Figured it was time for the thread!

It's now on Lifetime, so I'm interested in seeing how it changes (or if it changes at all).

whiteandblack 08-20-2009 11:35 PM

team Epperson!

MaggieXi 08-21-2009 08:28 AM

I'm glad to see not much changed besides the network and the move from NY to LA.

I was not shocked to see Ari go, but thought she would have made for some good tv. My favorite comment is when someone called her a "neon alien".

groovypq 08-21-2009 09:59 AM

I was actually surprised they sent Ari home - they usually keep the wackadoodle around for drama. Elisa, anyone?

AOII_LB93 08-21-2009 12:04 PM

Oh I think the drama this season will be provided by Johnny? (The recovering drug addict?) Seriously, crying like that on the first episode? Is it going to be Andre all over again?

Did anyone watch All-Stars? What the hell was with Jeffrey's handlebar moustache? That was a bit child molestery.

Santino's stuff was awful. Michael's stuff was the same stuff he used to do....and Korto should have won.

flirt5721 08-21-2009 12:40 PM

I was't surprised to see Ari go. I think she might had been a little too out there for the show. I did like the dress that won...can't remember the guys name right now.

I agree that Korto should have won. Her collection was so much better.

whiteandblack 08-21-2009 02:03 PM

when does the All Stars come on again? I didn't know it was a 2 hour show. I hate I missed it.

srmom 08-21-2009 02:57 PM

Does any body know when this will be rebroadcast? or is it on On Demand?

ok I see it comes back on @ 7:00 pm tonight.

Leslie Anne 08-23-2009 03:59 PM

I'm so happy that it's back on! I thought Korto or Uli should have won the
All-star. Oh well.

These were my favorite dresses from the new crop of designers:

Ra'mon-Lawrence

Christopher

Epperson

and, my favorite,

I was visiting my parents last week, so I am just now watching the first ep on my DVR:

Ari needed to go home, that outfit was nuts. Michael Kors said it best: "it looks like a disco soccerball."

I think Althea's and Ramon's dresses were my fave.

LeslieAGD 08-28-2009 12:06 PM

I thought there were tons of great outfits last night! The only two that I hated were Epperson's jumpsuit and Ra'mon's bowling bag evening gown. Even the bottom two designers outfits were kind of wearable...I could totally see someone like Nicole Ritchie bumming around LA in Mitchell's sloppy shorts.

I think this season holds a lot of promise. :)

Benzgirl 08-28-2009 12:13 PM

Loved the winner's outfit last night.

KSUViolet06 08-28-2009 03:27 PM

Althea's dress was so pretty, as was Shirin's (I think it won).

The "egg guy" needed to go home. I can't imagine any pregnant woman would be excited to buy/wear that.

I am amazed that they eliminated the wackadoos each week and didn't keep them around for drama.

I liked Mitchell's concept, but he's gotta step it up in execution or I bet he goes home next week, after two near-misses.

Funny, that's exactly who I was picturing wearing that outfit.

I'm so glad the guy that made the Baby Bjorn was booted. Dude could've just gone to Target and picked one of those up.

gee_ess 08-30-2009 10:53 PM

I am a Project Runway newbie! We do not get Bravo on our area so I was thrilled when it moved to Lifetime. Glad to see the wackadoo people leave first...that egg guy was completely weird and must definitely be the spawn of Bjorn. Beyond the weirdos, I am so impressed with people who can visualize and create like these designers.

I am really looking forward to watching my first season!! (and admittedly hoping it helps smooth my adjustment to my recently emptied nest now that my last child has left for college!)

srmom 08-31-2009 02:38 PM

Are any of y'all watching the "model" show after proj runway? It is interesting hearing the reactions and feelings of the models. They are all so scared of getting Mitchell because they called him a "model hopper" LOL They also think he cannot sew!

I watched it once and I was so bored. But, I thought it was interesting how no one wanted to be Mitchell's model and the one girl actually was pissed about it.

The girl who was pissed, Fatma is her name I think, has a shitty attitude because she's going to be Logan's stalker.

ASUADPi 08-31-2009 09:16 PM

I haven't watched the "model" show, but quite honestly sometimes they show the models and you just want to slap them across the face.

I'm sorry this girls aren't Tyra, Heidi or Gisele. They just need to stop bitching and wear the clothing.

KSUViolet06 09-04-2009 12:25 AM

Favorites tonight:

TIE: Shirin/Carol Hannah and Althea/Louise.

Also, I couldn't believe that the judges liked that neon green green thing with the dye stain. LIES. It was fugly.

Seriously, I can't believe they liked that. I was hoping they'd send BOTH Mitchell and Ra'mon home. UGH!!!

gee_ess 09-04-2009 09:49 AM

I really like Ra'mon, but like you, I was really surprised at the overwhelming, gushing love for his design...it was fairly interesting, but I thought the macrame top was way cool.

I think Mitchell has undiagnosed ADD...Otherwise, what in the world is his problem? He deserved to go.

I never did figure out who to blame for the Epperson/Qrystal conflict. They both seemed at fault to me. Just a bad combination all around.

One last comment, does anyone else notice that we are seeing very little of that one designer named Logan? Tim never seems to talk to him on camera, we don't really see what he is creating, etc. I might be wrong, but they seem to be ignoring him.

.

This!

I so much agreed with his partner when he had to get Mitchell to stay focused.

DreamfulSpirit 09-04-2009 10:52 PM

I am so happy that Mitchell is finally gone! Totally incompetent.

I know - when his stuff came down the runway I was like "who is this guy?" I so didn't even recognize him!

I agree with what most people have said - didn't understand why the judges were all about Ra'mon's dress. I was surprised Shirin/Carol Hannah didn't win, I really liked their design. I think Shirin will go far.

I loved that dress. You'd have to have the right skin tone for it, but I thought it was very pretty.

gee_ess 09-11-2009 04:29 PM

I was not surprised that Crystal was the one to go home. I think her designs have all been vrey ho-hum.
Glad to see they gave Logan some more face time!

Did anyone else feel like we were being manipulated into liking Epperson with that phone call home and the tears?

KSUViolet06 09-11-2009 04:31 PM

I love Althea's suit, but Shirin's outfit was good also!

Yesss. Lol, I felt bad for him, but it just seemed unnecessary. Loved Althea's design though!

The model show seems to be getting better...but I still don't really see the point. (or maybe I've just been spoiled by earlier seasons of ANTM :))

LeslieAGD 09-11-2009 07:58 PM

Is anyone else wondering what drugs the judges are smoking...?

The last two episodes I have been left scratching my head wondering why they like some of these designs. I didn't like any of the top three this week...I thought they all looked sloppy and that Epperson's dress looked like something a cheap prostitute would wear. Bleh.

In past shows I've seen people from Ohio and cringed a little that TV producers just happened to find the one rude/whiny Ohioan and give them a a ton of airtime. I'm personally rooting for Althea, though I like Sharin's designs as well.

Agree. I haven't watched the episode yet this week (on DVR, but there is football to watch today), but in Season 5, Kelli Martin was "aufed" too quickly. Terri Stevens, I could have done without (heard from those who work at Victoria Secret that she is a biotch). And then there was Suede: Sorry KSUViolet, but there are just no words for Suede.

I AGREE x2.

Althea, Shirin, or Carol Hannah. The rest are just ehhhhhh right now.

sceniczip 09-14-2009 09:07 AM

I really like Christopher, Carol Hannah, and Althea so far. I'm not quite caught up yet on the episodes though, I think I have one more to watch.

Leslie Anne 09-14-2009 11:43 PM

So far I like Althea, Shirin, Christopher and Epperson. Although I didn't see the point in showing us him crying on the telephone.

whiteandblack 09-24-2009 11:18 PM

Nicholas's appliqued 'ice' dress WON? over Christopher's or Epperson's??!

RedRover 09-27-2009 11:41 PM

Just started watching Project Runway

We didn't receive Bravo at our house, so I didn't start watching Project Runway until recently. As a straight man, I will admit that I don't understand all the fashion nuances, so I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can answe.

Who is Tim Gunn and why is he so important? To be honest, he reminds me of a high school art teacher or choir director. Did/does he have a major role in the fashion industry?

The judges keep saying that that ultimate put-down of a fashion is that it is wearable. From what I know about fashion (admittedly not much), there are only a few thousand women in the world who can afford haute coutoure and almost every designer makes his/her money in ready-to-wear and licensing.

Likewise with the models, I cannot say that I find many of them to be attractive. But from what I can gather, runway modeling is different than magazine modeling or catalog modeling or modeling for advertising. Am I wrong?

On a positive note, I would like to say that it is refreshing to see that the persons who are eliminated are treated with some dignity. When Heidi Klum and Mr. Gunn say their good byes to the soon to be departed, both are very gentle and encouraging in their remarks to the person who just has had his/her dream smashed.
