There are 1479 signed up as of 30 seconds ago for Alabama Recruitment. Recruitment starts this coming Monday 8/10 and PNMs have until the first Convocation meeting to sign up, which I believe is on Sunday evening.

The total that signed up in 2008 was just over 1600. Normally by this late date the vast majority have enrolled. So it appears that the total may be down a smidge, but no dramatic decrease despite the lousy economy.

AnchorAlumna 08-04-2009 09:32 PM

Thank you, Zillini. I'm impressed - I figured it would be down a good bit more with the economy.

jennyj87 08-05-2009 12:23 AM

i looked it up online and it says the University of North Alabama isn't until September 3-7.

Txborn 08-07-2009 12:24 PM

Does anyone know how many women go through Georgia's recruitment? Do they adjust quotas by how many women?

Titchou 08-07-2009 12:43 PM

All quotas are computed yearly based on the number of women available at preference and based on a formula provided by NPC. It's called RFM (Release Figures Method). UGA normally has 1100-1200 women going thru....

Also-i heard one of your alumnae members is a tlc i think is what you call them? Congrats to her and your chapter!

for the past few years we alums-well, your emily and i-have tried to get fgcu to change recruitment to the week before classes begin, just like at most of the state universities in fl-that way, you girls would not be so stressed worrying about classes and recruiting and we alums would not be up so far past our bedtimes, but so far it has fallen on deaf ears.

you are right, tlc-traveling leadership consultant. shannon york, who was kappa taus vp3-recruitment, and who graduated in the spring was chosen to be one. she just completed her training and said that it was intense, but fun and she is heading out on the road this weekend. i admire any sorority member who becomes a tlc(or the equivilent) for their sorority. it is a hard job, but i am sure it is very rewarding.

Thank Titchou - I figured that was the case. Is there any thing else I should know about GA rush being from out of state?

I suggest doing a search on this site for "Georgia" and you will find alot of info.

In general, recs are pretty important.

I'm not a Georgia alumna, so I can't speak to whether out of state women are at a disadvantage or not.

carnation 08-08-2009 08:58 AM

My daughters and I have written about 5 million recs this summer and now we'll sit back anxiously and see what happens. This year we wrote the most for Auburn. When Georgia started the HOPE Grant, which gives free tuition to instate students with a 3.0, a lot of out of state universities worried that they would lose their Georgia students but it seems like even more are going out of state now, particularly to Auburn, Bama, and Ole Miss.

WARRRR EAGLE!! Good luck next week, Auburn girls!

twinkle555 08-08-2009 05:11 PM

My lil sis is the recruitment chair this year and I can't wait to help her out as an alum! Only a few more weeks :)

Typical SEC recruitment - competitive. Out of state won't make any difference. But you do need recs for all houses...absolutely.
Keep an open mind and maximize your options (give everyone a chance). You'll find your place if you do.

Aw, they made the local news!! What a cute story that is. You don't see that on the news in Houston.

VandalSquirrel 08-14-2009 11:56 AM

PNMs welcome to the University of Idaho for recruitment, where today there is a 40% chance of thunderstorms with a high of 65 today and the predicted low tonight is:

FORTY THREE

I can't ever remember it being this cold during rush. It is usually the hottest week of the summer and there is a serious lack of A/C on campus. If there's a freak weather change it could freeze which isn't good for PNMs or the current wheat harvest.

That's awful! I hope PNMs bought cute cardigans to wear with their outfits!

Vandals are a tough breed we've got four seasons here. I'd rather be a bit chilly staying in the dorm they stay in than sweating mercilessly as there isn't AC in that dorm or most of the houses. If nothing else it may prevent a PNM from wearing a hoochie mama outfit or getting a sunburn.

It is supposed to warm up into the eighties day time by next week, but we've already hit the high today (63). Even when it will allegedly be in the seventies Sunday and Monday it is still in the high forties low fifties at night. Since we're in the foothills of the Rockies the days can be warm but once the sun is gone it is cold until it comes back. The lack of humidity doesn't help.
