"Sorority Row" - new slasher movie

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1232783/

Yeah, I have to admit...I kinda want to see this movie. LOL
:p:D

ASTalumna06 07-10-2009 03:01 AM

I love the tagline: Sister's for life... and death.

:rolleyes::p

GammaPhi1874 07-10-2009 05:50 AM

I kinda want to see it too...

cheerfulgreek 07-10-2009 06:51 AM

I actually thought I missed it. I forgot the name of it so I thought it already showed and I missed out. Thanks for posting this. I love scary movies, and I can't wait to see this one.:)

CougarGrad 07-10-2009 04:15 PM

Remake of a 1983 thriller? I just saw something like this on Lifetime Movie Network a few months ago, and it was dated 2007 or so. LOL.

It's a nice touch how they're kinda piled up like dead bodies.

Rumer Willis is all about the sorority movies - first "The House Bunny" and now "Sorority Row".

And just for fun, here is the artwork of the original movie...isn't this exactly what you wear when you're hanging out at the sorority house? :P LOL

The trailer from the original is so cheesy too...enjoy!

texas*princess 07-11-2009 10:27 AM

It's also a nice touch that they changed the name from Pi Theta (old movie) to Theta Pi so that it could rhyme with "Till we Die"

:p

pittsigdelt 07-11-2009 10:57 AM

I don't know that much about the movie but it was filmed in Pittsburgh practically on our campus for a few scenes. They sent out casting calls for extras who were in sororities (the calls asked us to wear letters) but we were told by our national organization and then our advisor that we should not affiliate ourselves. There were rumors of serious consequences but I never heard anything about anyone getting punished.

Were people actually dumb enough to show up on set with their letters on?

P.S. Theta Pi appears to be a local at "Sewanee - The University of the South".

They have pics up at Yahoo Movies now... I'm sure that all of you with sorority houses on campus, dressed like this for bed, am I right? LOL ;):p:D

I guess someone didn't like their composite photo...

als463 08-13-2009 12:40 AM

Interesting enough, Jamie Chung is in the movie. She is from The Real World. I thought I read somewhere that she was an ADPi from Iowa. Even though she isn't a Phi Mu, I still like to support movies about college that feature actual Greeks! I can't wait to see this movie.

pshsx1 08-13-2009 12:45 AM

I think I'm (and one of my other friends) the only person who thinks the trailer looks terrible and the movie won't even be worth an illegal download.

Anyone? No? Okay.

Oh you mean you don't wear that to bed? Not even the sheer knee high socks or the shoes that tie at your knees? Weird  Also don't miss what looks to be a beer bottle in that one girls hand. Night cap or apple juice?

This might seem like a silly question but why are sororities so popular for horror movies?

The main demo for slasher films is teenage boys. What better way to attract the attention of horny young lads then a group of hot young women living in the sa,e location?

Ha ha..it's like: "Help...I cannot run away from the axe-murderer! My clothes are falling off and it's slowing me down!!" LOL

I thought that was her! I saw a preview for the movie this weekend but figured it couldn't be her because I didn't know she was an "actress." Is this the sorority movie Audrina Patridge is in too?

Actually, I'm pretty sure Jamie Chung is a KKG. She's been on many chapters' notable alum lists for a few years (though not on the national website's).

ETA: Here's an interview where she mentions her affiliation - she was a KKG at the UC Riverside chapter. http://scifiwire.com/2009/04/sororit...make-scare.php

Chung drew on her own Kappa Kappa Gamma experience to play Claire. "I went to UC Riverside, and if you went to UC Riverside you would have joined an organization as well," she said. "I never thought that I'd go Greek or [join] an Asian sorority. It's not really my thing, but the group of girls that I met at UC Riverside was really cool. They were really kick-back, love to play sports. We all studied together. It wasn't your stereotypical sorority."

My husband and I saw that previews for this movie the first time a few nights back. we both looked at each other and started laughing at it because we felt it looked lame.

cheerfulgreek 09-14-2009 07:32 PM

Worst movie of all time. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! That movie was in major, major stereotypical "slut mode". Oh, and the "Full Metal Jacket" house mom with a shotgun....fabulous... When I bought my ticket, I was surprised they didn't ask me what kind of "cheesy" did I want with my movie ticket. Swiss, American or Provolone. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! Cheesy! Cheesy! Cheesy! A must NOT see.

chickenoodle 09-14-2009 07:43 PM

Any movie with Carrie Fisher in it has my $12+
... even if it looks like a terrible slasher flick.

knight_shadow 09-14-2009 07:46 PM

The preview made me think of the movie "Delta Delta Die"

That was $2.75 well spent.

Thank God I only paid $5 bucks for it. To me, it doesn't really matter who was in it, it was just another "D" (as in "Dumb") rated movie.

No, I can't say that I've heard of those two movies. I saw some sorority Christmas slasher movie a couple of years ago, but I forgot the name of it. I saw it with my mom. We both fell asleep.

eta: and lol at that movie becoming your official chapter movie.

Maybe Black Christmas?

But Steppin Back is another campy-ass movie. It's about a non-Greek who's married to an NPHC Greek. He dies and they have a step show in his honor. The Greeks wear letters every.single.day. And step at inopportune moments.

My stint at Blockbuster had its perks lol

Yep. That's it. Black Christmas. I went to youtube to make sure.:)

lol that one sounds cheesy too. My vote is for people to just stop making greek movies. They obviously don't work.

eta: with the exception of Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds. Hilarious movies. Oh, and Sorority Boys...loved it.:p

Black Christmas was another stupid movie

*sigh*thatIbought*sigh*

But some of these films are pleasantly surprising.

One more: Going Greek. That one was actually decent.

Two cousins end up becoming roommates at the same University. They're legacies of the top fraternity on campus (Iota Chi Omega). The "jock" has no interest in pledging (has to maintain a certain GPA and his new girlfriend got "used" by one of the I-Chi brothers). The "nerd" wants to belong. They only let the nerd in if the jock pledges. They bond. Hilarity ensues.

I liked it because their pledge process brought back memories of my own. It wasn't a bad movie at all.

LOL The boy & I were discussing greek life (he went to college where there aren't any greeks) and, trying to disillusion him, I said that it's not like we all walked around naked & had pillow fights all the time. He responded that I was ruining the best part of the fantasy!

There was a list of places the movie was filmed in today's Post Gazette. The sorority house itself is in Munhall. I'll probably see it to check out the places.
