New Quills
 

At convention legislation was passed approving new jewels on Quills other than pearls and diamonds. There were samples on display and for sale after the approving vote. I got a three stone tiffany setting with a dark blue, light blue, and yellow sapphire.

That sounds beautiful! Can you post a picture? What were the price ranges for the different jeweled ones?

I still haven't gotten my quill. :( We had a few issues with getting all the loaner quills from initiation turned back in, but I thought I had heard that all those issues were resolved.

Then I heard that since there's only one company who can make our badge and they have to cater to all of our chapters, they're extremely backed up with orders. I heard there's like a 6 month waiting period before we get ours. Is that true?

I just want my quill! It's only the plain gold one, but it's so pretty! :)

I paid $155 for 3 stones 10k gold. The prices ranged from $110 to $250. There were white gold with pink stones and pearls and yellow gold with alternating sapphires and peals and all sapphires... all very pretty.

I'm sorry to hear that you'all are having so long to wait for your quills.

That's okay, I suppose that I don't have much use for it over the summer, lol. And if that 6 month waiting period is true, we should have them in time for recruitment! PMing you now...

Once upon a time, before badges were standardized for my org (until about 1920), there were some gorgeous jewels put into them- sapphires, emeralds, rubies... it was later mandated that we could only have diamonds and pearls.

I was REALLY hoping I could get a combination of the top left and the top right one - jewels all the way across the top with alternating dark blue, light blue and yellow sapphires, but I asked at convention and they dont think that combination was approved :( So I'll have to stick with just dark blue and light blue instead.

I am SO excited. I was "eventually" going to get one with diamonds, but now I dont have to because COLORS have been approved! YAY!!!!!

That's would be the one I would want also. I wonder why it wasn't approve. Oh well, the rest of these are GORGEOUS! Hopefully, I can buy the top right or middle someday...

The one I got at convention is the one at the top left. its really elegant.

How pretty, and how neat to have so many color combo choices!

These aren't the only color combinations that will be available; it was just a sample photo sent out to show some of the possibilities if the legislation was approved. National Council will be voting at its meeting later this month on the specific jewels allowed plus any restrictions (like no "pink + blue", which was mentioned in the memo as a likely one), and then we'll all be able to order them in whatever order and combination we want, and that Herff Jones is willing to produce.

I'm all about the dark and light blue sapphires in white gold!!

I'm so happy. I would really like to get on with light and dark blue stones. I asked my boyfriend if he could get it for me for Christmas. Although I would have to order it myself.

ooh... now I know what I'm saving up for! I'm not even sure which one yet since they all are so beautiful!

I always thought the simpler badges, like AXiD and Pi Phi were the prettiest. You can see what it is and it needs no explanation. I wonder if members/alums will be able to trade in their badges for an upgrade.

They're soo pretty! Hmm, how am I going to talk the husband into one of these without waiting for my legacy to join? I'm so excited that we're finally getting colored stones!

I am so throughly excited about all of this! As soon as HQ announced it offically on the web I ordered the alternating Sapphire and Aquamarine in gold. I always thought that would be such a pretty combo and it is!!! I can't wait to get it!!!!!!! :oD

I just got my first Quill!(Just the plain gold one) So exciting! It's too bad these new ones came out THIS year though, and not last. Oh well, hopefully I can get the Sapphire and Aquamarine in the future...

It's 10K white gold one with alternating dark and light blue sapphires. The one on the AXiD website only shows yellow gold.

ooh I can see the blue now, I thought they were diamonds at first. So pretty!

Ohhhh, you know, I always wondered what the new white gold ones would look like...from what I can see that is STUNNING!

I'm going to try to find my digital camera and get a better picture of it....it is so so SO pretty! My original quill was the old sterling silver one, and there is just something about the way how white gold metal is just so much blingy-er (lol) with the blue stones that makes me want to do a happy dance.

I'll be getting a new quill and chapter guard once i get my tax return (granted I don't take Little #4 this semester)...

It's my last active semester, so I'm getting my self a going-away present :-)

It'll be the double blue and gold one (14k yellow gold, with sapphires and aquamarines)... and then the gold and pearl "Theta Chi" double letter guard..

I really wish they had a Double Blue and Pearl (15 or 20 stone) quill... That would be perfection at its finest!

I'm so excited, my husband bought me the new gold quill with alternating dark blue and light blue stones for my birthday! So excited since right now I have the plain gold plated one. Super excited!

The light blue stones sparkle, a lot!
The sapphires don't really sparkle (since they are small AND dark), but they still look wonderful next to the aqua marine!

I want to purchase one of the new Quills with alternating sapphires and pearls. The big decision is: white gold or yellow??????

Any opinions on which will look better?

I'm completely biased for white gold. Truth be told, I dont really like the look of yellow gold. On the other hand, the yellow gold ones are VERY pretty, if that's your preference, and what matches with the rest of your jewelry.
