Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Hmmmm

Last hr was too long

"Ghettobots"

a few glaring plotholes

6.5 out of 10.

Kevin 06-25-2009 07:47 PM

Not a great movie.

As I walked out I predicted (accurately) that there'd be a big to do about the portrayal of offensive negative racial stereotypes. Not like that was a tough call to make.

Tippiechick 06-25-2009 08:08 PM

Liked it. Kid liked it. (Although he came out knowing a few new cuss words...)

Too long... But, getting to see Shia all grown-up AND Josh Duhamel made up for it.

cheerfulgreek 06-25-2009 08:16 PM

I'm going to see it this weekend. Based on the posts, sounds like a DVD rental.

BabyPiNK_FL 06-25-2009 09:03 PM

It's worth seeing in the theater. But it's no Transformers 1. The fight scenes are amazing. The CGI are amazing. The plot is sincerely lacking. But not bad enough to skip unless you have a damn good tv/sound system for the DVD.

pshsx1 06-25-2009 09:05 PM

I really enjoyed it but I don't think it lived up to the hype it generated.

YES!!! Mother has a potty mouth on her!!!

The brownies was a bit funny....I was shocked how in the middle of the day there were a LOT of people there with infants!!!

Let's see so far 3 bombs...

Wolverine

Terminator

Transformers

Harry Potter better hit it out of the park!!!

minDyG 06-25-2009 11:15 PM

Wow, I really, really loved it. Like, I liked it better than the first. And it was a bit long, but it wasn't one of those movies I was sitting there checking my watch the whole time and thinking "When is this going to end already?" Even with Megan Fox, I still give it two thumbs up.

Seriously! That last 1/2 mile trek to Optimus was the longest ever!!

twinkle555 06-26-2009 02:48 PM

I liked it but I dont think it lived up to all the hype.

p.S- Ive been to Princeton (where the college was shot) and there are DEFINETELY no hot chicks walking around with their midriffs showing like that lol

Educatingblue 06-26-2009 08:04 PM

I saw it when it came out on Wednesday and I will admit that the movie seemed to go on forever we went to a 7:30 show and came out at 10:10. The movie was almost too funny and I thought the excessive cursing was a little out of the way...other than that, GREAT MOVIE!

pbear19 06-26-2009 08:11 PM

I really liked it. I do have a huge fondness for 80s toys, so I am predisposed to like it. But I knew the length of the movie going in, so it didn't seem long to me at all. I went with a couple friends to a midnight showing on opening day, in a mega screen digital theater that was completely packed. It was a great movie to see in such a setting!

Psi U MC Vito 06-27-2009 12:57 AM

I don't know why everybody is complaining. I think it was a pretty good movie and he did a good job. Granted Brother Bay did get a little bit slow-mo happy at a couple of points, but honestly, it's Michael Bay. Also part of the movie was filmed at Penn as well as Princeton. That party they went to was in the Tau chapter of his fraternity. He even made sure to show the nickname and badge of the fraternity for a good couple of minutes.

Xanthus 06-27-2009 06:19 AM

I liked it, but the first one was much better.

cheerfulgreek 06-27-2009 10:47 AM

I'm getting ready to see the matinee shortly. I'll post my thoughts about it when I get back.:)

pshsx1 06-27-2009 12:50 PM

I never seen a fraternity house like the one in the movie. At that moment all of my friends and I looked at each other and said 'that's not college.' hah

Yes, I realize it's a movie.

I agree, though, that last 1/2 mile run... goodness... they knocked out the other 2.5 miles in like 20 minutes...
I also think that the end wasn't epic enough (not saying it was terrible or anything). I was hoping for some huge ending that would have me on the edge of my chair and then give me goosebumps. Nope. Optimus Prime saved the day in like 20 seconds and that was that.

cheerfulgreek 06-28-2009 12:25 AM

What a waste. Nothing was funny about the "funny" scenes, and I didn't know transformers get hard ons. I almost fell asleep.

Yeah we are really proud of that chapter and the house, which is known as the Castle both by the fraternity and the school. I actually had people staring at me during that part. The shout of joy at seeing the diamond probably had something to do with that. :P You also have a good point though with the ending. The fight in the woods was more epic then the "Big Fight" at the end of the movie, though ha flying Optimus was cool.

Yeah, I agree. I thought that was uncalled for. And a gold tooth too? Gimmie a break.

I laughed at parts, but it was like they were trying too hard to be funny.

starang21 06-28-2009 12:57 PM

it was cool. optimus was pwning the three decepticons before getting sucker gaped.

ASUADPi 06-28-2009 04:10 PM

I liked it, but I'm wasn't going into it expecting an "oscar worthy" performance. It's an action flick, so the reality is I was expecting some monster action scenes and the acting to be "so-so". I enjoyed myself.

-I loved the two autobots that started out as the ice-cream truck then became the red and green cars. They were pretty funny.
-The small deceptican that Micheala "trapped" was pretty funny too.
-I will admit that I shed a tear or two when optimus died, but his "rebirth" wasn't a grand old thing that I expected.
-Josh Duhamel, god can he be any cuter!!!!
-Like Tyrese although my favorite line from him is still from the first movie "left cheek, left cheek". LOL.

pshsx1 06-28-2009 05:24 PM

Well, one of the fraternity houses at my school is called The Castle as well, but I mean the interior of the house seemed ridiculous with the walls of light and what not.

And I didn't think the fact that the one giant mega robot had testicles was funny at all.

I know, that's a good way of putting it. They were trying way too hard. I'll wait for the next one to come out on dvd.

That level of cheesiness reminds me of how some of the female Gobots in the cartoon had lipstick and female Transformers had breast-like formations.

And what's kind of funny is that I recall watching an interview with Shia about the movie and he said they took out the cheesiness from the first movie and replaced with action.

Right:

I agree. I found it offensive, because I knew who they were stereotyping. I missed the silver tooth. Doesn't surprise me though.

ASTalumna06 06-29-2009 02:50 AM

I saw the movie tonight and thought it was ok. It wasn't anything like the first, though. But I guess there are very few sequels that could be considered better than the original.

I think the slow parts were necessary in order to understand what was going on and why, so that didn't bother me too much.

I enjoyed the funny parts, although a couple things could have been left out (i.e. robots having reproductive organs).

Megan Fox is utterly useless. She's hot, I get that. But she should be a model, not an actress. And it might sound weird, but her face was basically frozen in this "mouth not moving much at all, lips never touching, looking helpless" kind of way. All she really contributed to the movie was her butt, her boobs bouncing in slow motion, and her two big front teeth.

She has a butt?

was it CGI?

I missed it...or maybe I was dozing.

pshsx1 06-29-2009 12:41 PM

Yeah, I didn't notice in the first movie, but in the second one, it really showed her lacking acting skills..

The first time we saw her. It wasn't really much of a butt, but it was all kinds of in my face when she was probably told, "Hey, go look hot on that motorcycle."

Definitely. When you're a main character in a movie, and I can remember all of your lines, it probably means you're a bad actress who wasn't given enough lines to screw up the movie too much.

She's pretty. That's about it.

But then again we are talking Transformers, it's not like its an "academy award winning movie" for acting.

Don't mean to sound like a total dunce, but what is this gold tooth, silver tooth thing y'all are talking about? I'm trying to figure it out from the movie but drawing a blank.

.

I wonder what she looks like without all that whale fat caked on her face.

StarFish106 06-30-2009 08:38 AM

It seemed like they were really pushing Megan to be this sex symbol in the movie. Her first scene on the bike with her azz hiked up was a little unneccesary to me. Just be on the bike. I did like that they got Simmons back. He was truly funny

I liked the new version of Devestator. I really liked hearing Soundwave, he was my favorite decepticon.

I liked the movie for trying to figure out who was who. Jetfire as the old and crotchtey decepticon turned autobot was funny. The litte one that Megan was keeping under wraps was Wheels aka Wheelie (think back to the original TF movie, he was the one that showed the Dinobots how to get to the city and was teasing Grimlock).

If Bay & co does another one can we please please have Unicron or Omega Supreme? Just keep him away from the Constructicons and he should be fine lol.

Oh and who caught the Oompa Loompa in the movie lol?

starang21 06-30-2009 10:12 AM

only optimus and soundwave had close to their original voices. but those guys voices were classic. well, megatron and starscream, too.

Peter Weller and Frank Welker both reprised their roles as Optimus and Soundwave in the movies. I would have loved for Megatron voiceperson to have come back for the movies but I heard random reasons why he did not (i.e. scheduling conflicts as well as his voice is now too old). I never read the true reason. Didn't know what was the reason for Starscream's voice person not to come for the movie.

Yes!

Also I want to see the DInobots before Omega Supreme and some of the later TFs...but...they have already thrown canon out of whack so....I am not expectiong too much more.

Correction

Optimus was voiced by Peter Cullen.

Frank Welker did Megatron in the ORIGINAL cartoon.

Yes, he didn't do the voice in the original movie and guessing that Hugo Weaving did it in the first, it probably wouldn't have done well to switch up but Frank of course was used for other voices.

The reason that the original voice for Starscream didn't return is that he is suffering from a slight case of death.

Well hopefully he'll have a speedy recovery--in time for the next movie, of course.

AOII_LB93 06-30-2009 09:30 PM

Was it as good as the first? No, it wasn't magical. Was I entertained? Sure. Was I pissed at the lame ass fight at the end between "the Fallen" and Optimus? Hells yeah! That was so lame, it took him like 2 seconds to dispatch him, whereas the scene in the woods with Optimus fighting off the three was way better.

It's almost like they realized, "Crap, our movie is really long, we need to end this sh*t."
