Glee

So the pilot episode is on. Anybody else watching it, or planning on watching it? It's funny so far...All those singing commercials and what-not, I had to tune in.

SWTXBelle 05-19-2009 09:41 PM

I thought it was on TOMORROW. Darn it- i'm ticked. I missed it.

I think tonight was some sort of special showing of the first episode. I have a feeling they will show it again. Or at the very least it will be available online. I love that now that if I miss a show I wanted to watch it's usually online somewhere.

And I haven't watched tonight's episode yet, but I've set my DVR to record and will probably watch it tomorrow - it looks good!

papayafruit 05-20-2009 01:02 AM

I think it's supposed to be on all summer, but then the actual episodes start in the fall. It was so cute, I loved it. You can preview the music on itunes I think.

Smile_Awhile 05-20-2009 02:00 AM

I'm a theatre geek- I CANNOT wait to see the rest. I really do not need another TV show addiction. However, if the pilot is just as good as the rest of the show, I can already say that I'm hooked. :)

KDAngel 05-20-2009 10:18 AM

Thought I was going to absolutely hate it, but I actually kind of got into it. Surprised the heck out of me.

PeppyGPhiB 05-20-2009 03:48 PM

I loved it! Now I can't get Journey out of my head.

prettyladie 05-20-2009 04:53 PM

I liked it too. It was cute. and the lead girl can sing reallly well. i did catch myself laughing a lot. its kind of corny. but its still good. im hooked as well.

OleMissGlitter 05-20-2009 05:29 PM

It was really good! My husband even liked it!

KSig RC 05-20-2009 05:49 PM

If anyone missed it, it's available for free d/l on iTunes right now - the guys writing/producing it are very very good, definitely worthy of support to make sure FOX doesn't f- it up.

Me either! I had the song in my head all day!!!!

I actually really liked the show! I thought it was going to be another stupid teacher show...and as a high school teacher, I usually think they are dumb...but this one was funny!

DoctorD 05-20-2009 07:56 PM

there was a great interview with the creator - same guy who did Nip/Tuck - on NPR this week.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...ryId=104199257

And frankly, the only reason I watched the show was because I heard the interview.

deadbear80 05-20-2009 10:23 PM

It's also up on hulu.com for the next 20-some days!

I went to theatre camp and 2 of the people I went to camp with are behind Glee--one on the creative side and one on the production side. Very cool. Very fun. And totally brought back memories (I was also in HS Show Choir).

Can't wait for fall!

Thetagirl218 05-20-2009 11:32 PM

I don't want to wait for the fall!! Why not make it a hit summer show, like Idol was it first season????

txpacer 05-20-2009 11:49 PM

I LOVED the show...even my boyfriend is interested in it. It is definitely a new addiction.

annabella 05-21-2009 12:00 AM

The girl with the voice, Lea Michele, has a pretty incredible Broadway resume too.... I seem to remember reading she was Shprintze in Fiddler, had parts in Ragtime, Les Mis, etc.

The whole thing reaaaalllllyyyyy made me miss show choir.

They're not done filming (not sure they're even done writing) . . . the pilot also helps dictate how many episodes FOX orders, etc.

AOII_LB93 05-21-2009 07:45 PM

I really enjoyed it...I was really shocked that I did too! I'd almost given up on network TV, so I'm glad it was good. Between that and Fringe, I'm happy with Fox right now.

KDAngel 05-21-2009 11:54 PM

So the cast song at the end is the number 1 song on iTunes right now. Love it.

papayafruit 05-29-2009 12:55 PM

I bought the song. Totally excited for it in fall :)

She also opened Spring Awakening- that's what made her a "name" on Broadway. :)

MexicanMami0286 05-29-2009 01:54 PM

I love this show so much.

It makes me miss high school...well, at least the musical parts - band and choir.

sceniczip 05-31-2009 10:50 PM

I just watched the pilot and LOVED it! I thought I wouldn't at first but it's really cute. I hate, hate, hate his wife!!!

minDyG 06-05-2009 01:40 AM

I'm about to watch it on hulu. I'll let you know what I think!

adpi*violet 09-07-2009 01:02 PM

Bumping up for the season premier on Wednesday night. I'm excited... hope it continues to be as good as the pilot episode was.

ASUADPi 09-07-2009 02:15 PM

My mom and I watched the Pilot last week and we really began to like the show. Although the actress who plays the dudes wife, yeah she's totally annoying. The whole "OMG I'm pregnant and I can only work 3 hours a week" attitude was grating on me by the end of the episode.

I believe that was their intention . . . ;)

AOII_LB93 09-07-2009 07:55 PM

Dude's wife was also in Heroes and played Claire's bio mom. I re-watched and still enjoyed. Got the DVR all set!

KSUViolet06 09-07-2009 11:02 PM

I'll admit, I'm not a network TV person, but I have heard so much about this show. I think I'm going to DVR it and see if I like it.

WCsweet<3 09-07-2009 11:04 PM

I'm so excited for this show. I just realized it starts Wednesday, I thought I had another week. Thank you thread!

Quala67 09-08-2009 12:49 PM

LOVE LOVE LOVE Ryan Murphy - his sarcastic sense of humor is great! Love Nip/Tuck, and that's the only reason I gave GLEE a chance. So far, I've seen two actors that were in N/T in GLEE: the principal and the wife (sorry, don't remember either of their names). Sad thing is, they're both playing very similar characters to what they did in N/T. I hope this show keeps the 'edge' it had in the pilot.

Lily1909 09-09-2009 07:50 PM

This show makes me happy!!! I cannot wait for tonight's episode!

LMAO that dance sequence! this show looks hilarious. im going to have to rewatch online, i just turned it.

and look for my friend's name at the end of the credits - i dont know what he did on the show, but Garrett Greer, i went to school with him. Good times.

ETA: apparently, is the assistant to the executive producer, according the IMDB.

Penguin08 09-10-2009 01:49 AM

Oooooooooohhhh my goodness! This show is effing hilarious!!! I almost died laughing at the "Push It" dance!

LucyKKG 09-10-2009 03:29 AM

I just watched the pilot, but I guess the first episode isn't available online yet. Boo! Oh well...it just aired today. Hehe

SWTXBelle 09-10-2009 06:19 AM

I'm conflicted - I really want to like this show, but the stock characters are getting to me. Really? The jock who wants to express himself in music - hmmmm, HSM. The beautiful nerdish girl who is uber-talented? The megamanical "win at any cost" sports coach? Manipulative cheerleader? I just feel I've seen it all before. It feels like "High School Musical" meets "Mean Girls" meets "Fame". I'm hanging in there - maybe things will get better. I LOVE the musical numbers, of course.

There's no question that they've used all the stock characters. All the reviews I saw back when the pilot aired noted as much, but said that it worked. One said something along the lines of cliche being essential to satire. I imagine that as the characters develop, they'll move beyond the stereotypes -- but not too far, I hope.

Hmmm...did anyone see American Pie?

It's like they lifted that one section out with Ostreicher and made a show based on that entire plot point.

and then throw in "Not Another Teen Movie." The show can't be too out-the-box with the characters - it IS broadcast TV and all.

im going to give it a second chance.
