Nicest Compliment
There is a strangest compliment thread. Here, we talk about the nicest compliment.
What is the nicest compliment that you have received recently(that you don't mind sharing here ;) )? I just received a lovely email from a student thanking me for all of my hard work and for the course. I do love to received unsolicited praise from my students. It is affirming. I particularly love receiving emails from students that I had a while ago. Also, a couple of weeks ago I was chatting with my cousin (7), and he was asking me questions about X-Men. As usual, we started the conversation with X-Men and ended up talking about prejudice and discrimination (All of our conversations are like this. He starts with a seemingly simple question, but quickly gets right to the much more complex ideas that lie beneath. He is a great kid. :) ). He kept asking me questions while I was trying to watch the movie. :) I asked him, why do you always ask me so many questions. He said, because you know everything. That brought a smile to my face. :D |

Trying to follow HIPAA here... I have also learned that giving nice compliments through appreciation and empathy really lifts one's spirits... |
Someone (a girl) once told me that my daughter would be lucky to have me as a dad
It made me smile. |
Someone told me that she could tell I was a Christian after knowing me for just a short time.
|
I was at the gym last night and a female friend smacked my butt after class and replied with "that was a lot hard than i thought it was going to be." I guess the gym is paying off.
|
Someone once said to me "SHUT UP! What do you have like an encyclopedia for a brain?"
I just smiled, took it as a compliment, and kept moving..... |
^^lol.

I'm moving on to a new postition, and we're currently trying to find my replacement. My colleague keeps saying that we really need critical thinking skills in applicants because that was one of the most important characteristics that I brought.
I'm happy to be seen as someone who looks at the big picture and notices when something seems out of place. Although it's important to learn from others and not always "reinvent the wheel", I don't want to be the type who only follows precedence and never offers original ideas. |
Nice and Scary...
Random guy in the park the other day runs me down to tell me that I am a gorgeous woman who has a "glow."
It was a little scary, but I will take it. :) |
(Sorry for the crash!) The director of the play I'm auditioning for walked by me while we were singing as a group and said I had a beautiful voice. :) I'm much more confident in my acting and dancing than I am in my singing, so that really made my day!

I was told by a potential employer that I am "very articulate with an extensive vocabulary"...which is why I am wondering why I didn't get that job!!!!!

The nicest complement I have ever received was from a mentee. At the end of the semester she just thanked me for being there for her and that she didn't think she would of done all she accomplished without me. We study a lot of chem together lol.
|
For my nicest gc compliment:
Sen gave me kudos. It got a smile out of me because he doesn't dole those out like candy. |
Just ran into an old student of mine at the store yesterday. She told me that she had switched her major to my field after taking my class.
I am going to take that as a compliment. :) |
I study Taekwondo with my oldest daughter.
Recently, she earned her yellow belt. (Our instructor held a special belt ceremony for her because I had an unavoidable work commitment on the day he originally was to have the ceremony for students earning a new ranking.) He began her belt ceremony by ...thanking me. For taking the time to do it with her, being out there as a parent on the floor/mat with her and not just as a spectator. It affected me because a) he took the time to accomodate my schedule so I could be there for it, and b) it meant a lot for him to have a parent actually on the floor with their child. ...of course none of this stops this dude from dropping me as we spar/train, but that's another matter. |
Catching up with an old friend the other day and he compared me to the Dos Equus commercial guy, you know "The most interesting man in the world." lol.

I just got this email a few days ago :D (this was in response to a mass email I sent my students about completing their online course evaluations) "I already did mine! I want to thank you for being a great TA. It has been a great semester, and is it weird to say I looked forward to Chemistry lab every week? I'll see you next week, and you'll probably be hearing from me in the next few days about the lab report. Thanks again, *Student*" The "I looked forward to Chemistry lab every week" is what REALLY got to me! :) Thanks, Little32, for making this thread! |
^^Affirmations from the students are lovely and sometimes all too rare.
