Miss California: I'll fight on despite nude photos Carrie Prejean claims foes of her same-sex marriage views released them By Mike Celizic, TODAYShow.com contributor updated 8:38 a.m. ET, Tues., May 5, 2009 With partially nude photos of her popping up on Web sites questioning her Christian credentials, Miss California USA Carrie Prejean has fired back, claiming the racy pictures are just modeling shots and vowing to continue her battle against same-sex marriage. "I am a Christian, and I am a model," Prejean said in a statement released overnight to the media. "Models pose for pictures, including lingerie and swimwear photos. Recently, photos taken of me as a teenager have been released surreptitiously to a tabloid Web site that openly mocks me for my Christian faith. I am not perfect, and I will never claim to be." But Alicia Jacobs, a judge at the April 19 Miss USA pageant during which Prejean made her highly publicized statement opposing same-sex marriage, said the pictures go beyond what the Miss California pageant says are appropriate. "I can assure you they were quite inappropriate, and certainly not photos befitting a beauty queen," Jacobs, a reporter for NBC's Las Vegas affiliate, told NBC News. The images may also hurt her status as a spokeswoman for conservative causes. "She can continue to advocate for causes, but I don't think these causes are going to advocate for her," Ken Baker of E! News told NBC. Six revealing photos The Web site thedirty.com claimed that it had six pictures of Prejean. As of Tuesday morning, it had posted one on its site. The picture shows Prejean wearing nothing but a pair of revealing pink panties and smiling over her shoulder at the camera. Her breasts are covered by her arm. The picture was deemed too racy to be shown on the TODAY Show. It and the others in the set may also be too revealing for the Miss California pageant, according to a report filed for TODAY by NBC News' Miguel Almaguer, who reported that Prejean's contract with the pageant prohibits her from being photographed "in a state of partial or total nudity." |
1) This is stupid because no more skin was shown here than was shown in the bathing suit competition.
2) I'm completely in the camp which is in favor of gay marriage, but this is a ridiculous tactic. This has nothing to do with the debate, nothing to do with the merits of the argument and nothing, IMHO to do with Prejean's credibility. http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/im...ude_81x179.jpgETA, the 'side-boob' picture was taken down. That's the picture. Is that markedly worse than this in terms of skin? http://tbn3.google.com/images?q=tbn:...rieprejean.jpg |
They're really trying to tear this woman down, aren't they? I mean, I don't agree with her, but this is kind of ridiculous. I guess that's what you get for giving an honest answer during one of those pageants.

There will always be people with a single-minded agenda who make it their life's work to destroy someone who opposes it. I may not agree with one agenda or another, but frankly, I don't have the time to completely villify those who disagree with me.
|
At this point now...why even care anymore?
Nude photos...can we run down the list starting with Vanessa Williams? At least she didn't test positive for steroids!!!!! |
She needs to step off her anti-gay marriage deal and spend more time on her actual "platform" as Miss Cali USA.
I am hoping that Miss USA DOESN'T win Miss Universe, because then this prize idiot will be bumped up to Miss USA and use it for her own agenda. |
who has them?

According to Perez Hilton, pageant officials are trying to decide to strip her of her crown

I'm chilled! Note use of smilie - sure sign of chilln' - and amusing pic! :) I think the whole thing is funny on a couple of ironic levels. |
I feel bad for her because she gave an honest answer. Perez Hilton basically said that's why she lost...because she wasn't politically correct. Which of course must mean that being politcally correct means lying when the situation calls for it.
In my opinion he lost credibility by calling her a stupid b$%^&. |

Perez Hilton is not the authority on why she lost. The person who won had been winning the whole time. He said that out of anger and to be mean. Her losing was not based solely on her answer (which for the 5th time I will point out did NOT answer the question Perez Hilton asked her to begin with!)
According to Perez, more NUDE pictures are on the way. She sowed and now she's reapin', both the good-Christian film/commercial, and the bad- backlash from gay community and supporters. She appears to be trying to rise above it all, most likely her opening her fool mouth was the best thing that ever happened to her. We're still talking about her. |
FWIW, PH wasn't the only judge who didn't like her answer.
And she didn't have to lie. It's possible to state your opinion in an eloquent way. She had absolutely no tact whatsoever. Her whole answer was basically word vomit. And these pictures aren't magically surfacing because of her anti-gay tirade. There are many Miss --insert title here-- who had pictures from the past come back to haunt them. I don't agree with the way PH responded to her (calling her names, etc) either, but that's not really the subject of this thread. thedirty.com did say that they have more pictures that they will be publishing soon. |
What's opposite marriage?
Seriously... If a girl wins Miss Cali, then wins Miss USA--there is a very high probability that she will be a major contender celebrity... I have more to say... Let's just say that San Diego is NOT KNOWN to crank out too many Miss California's... |

I think she did the best she could considering her views on the subject. Essentially if you expect someone to get up there and say something people want to hear, but which goes against their own beliefs, that constitutes a lie. They weren't asking her to be tactful. No matter how she worded it, if she didn't say that she was in favor of gay marriage, it was going to be held against her. I'm basing this on what PH said when he was talking to Larry King. |

After hearing the answer, [Alicia] Jacobs, a former Miss Nevada USA [and judge], writes on her blog, if I could have made her 51st runner-up, I would have." She goes on to say "I fault her [Miss Prejean] for her complete lack of social grace, and that's a quality I want my Miss USA to posses." In her blog, Miss Jacobs alludes that other judges felt the same way. "Going into the finals, she was in 3rd place in swimsuit and 2nd place in the evening gown competition." |
It's the "gay mafia".
And I'm glad! |

I feel the same way. I don't think he was a good choice to be a judge. Love the part in bold. lmao |

My guess is that most people in this thread couldn't care less about her tact if she had said something that was more in line with their beliefs...people are upset about the belief that she expressed, and they're using the tact issue to supplement their argument.
Again, I don't agree with what she said, but the timing and ferocity with which people are attacking her make me think that this goes beyond the usual "OMG she posed for that picture!" discussion. |
Yes, I do not like Miss California's comment, but there are millions of people who agree with her. Whatever.
My complaint is she really could have saved herself the drama. Not by using tact, but by answering the question she was asked instead of veering off to the side of the road at warp speed. I hate when a pageant participant is aked question about a topic (especially a controversial or serious one) and starts talking about the topic but doesn't answer the question. She stuck her foot in her mouth by doing so and made a mess for herself when she could have just done better. Epic Fail. Also, who is really qualified to judge except those who used to pageant or those who used to train/coordinate in all honesty? Perez was asked probably because he is famous and would draw his audience to the show, but don't forget all the other people (usually celebs) over time that also deserved a draw drop and a "WTF?!" as well. He is among an abundance of company. |
Am I the only one who has had enough with this story?. While I think we all should "live and let live", I don't know why Perez Hilton and others who are in support of gay marriage has chosen to cruicify her for giving her opinion on a topic when she was asked about it DIRECTLY. Was she supposed to pander to those who asked the question or avoid the answer? It seems to be a bit much "punishment" for being truthful:mad:
This does not help the gay marriage "cause" one bit. They should tell Perez Hilton to sit down and take a pill! |
Is Perez Hilton any more my gay savior than Jesse Jackson is our black savior? Anybody who even thinks this piece of shit new story is supposed to "help" the "gay cause" needs to get a grip.
She said something dumb and got called out about it and will continue to get called out about it. It's no different from how we/you/I/people treat Blue Bat Shit and Tom Earp around here. People can do and say what the hell they want to -- if she wants to look like a flat assed wench and be Miss California, then good for her. And if Perez wants to call her out for being stupid, good for him, too. I don't even know who the reigning Miss USA even IS. |
I thought nude pictures were a requirement to be a "Miss ______"...
|
Alright, so ignoring the entire question controversy, this seems like odd timing to me. If it was an attack by homosexual supporters, wouldn't it have come up earlier? It seems like a long wait to me.
|
The bottom line is, you piss off Perez Hilton and ANY skeleton you may have in your closet will be out. Fair? Hell no. But it is the reality of a bizarre sector of society who loves to bring down famous people with vicious gossip.

As far as those who feel she didn't answer the question directly, I guess I don't see why people feel that way. I thought the question was how she felt about gay marriage or whether she supported it and she basically said no. |

I believe the pictures would have come up either way, because there are plenty of Miss Whatevers who have taken these sorts of pictures and got bit in the ass later because of it. She could have avoided all of this entirely if she kept her clothes on but she had a lapse in judgement. Her answer is a completely different story and she's using the 'oh woe is me! I'm a victim b/c of my strong Christian beliefs" crap. And for what it's worth, being photographed nude/semi-nude is not the only contract breaching she's being accused of. Apparently there is another clause in there about not going out and doing interviews/appearances without the consent of the Miss California organization, and guess what she's been doing recently  ETA: CNN article |

She agreed to take those pictures. No one else made her. And just like every other girl before her, she needs to own up and hold herself accountable for her actions. Yea, this is probably a little bit more on the radar than it has been with past beauty queens, but if anything, she sort of did that to herself. She could have said once "yea, I said that. Those are my beliefs" and been done with it - gone back to her Miss Cali duties and it would have blown over in a few weeks, but she chose to catapult herself into the spotlight and went on every interview/appearance that she could. I'd even go as far as to say that whoever had those photographs probably got a HUGE sum of money b/c she chose to make such a huge media spectacle of herself. |
I don't give a rats about her answer or her pictures. I just want to know why the hell Perez Hilton was a judge.
|
Why is anyone ever a pageant judge? They get people who are celebrity-esque and available.
