Fall Recruitment 2009. Oh baby!

Hey hey!

Hooray for a fresh recruitment story! I'm trying to decide on code names...Harry Potter? NFL teams (I love football!)? Spanish cities? Disney Princesses? Cast your votes and suggestions now!

Anyway, a little history for you...

For two years, I went to a private school. While my mom was super popular and the perfect Irish Catholic girl in high school, I was the complete opposite. I went through an emo/punk rocker stage, wore green nail polish, tons of bangles and pink chucks with my uniform kilt. Needless to say, I did not fit in. The only reason I went there in the first place was because my aunt went there and sent, or was intending to send, all 7 of her daughters there, and I won a music scholarship there. There was just a ton of pressure to stay there since so many of my family members thought so highly of the place.

But my the end of my sophomore year, I could not take it anymore and I needed to get out, so I transferred to public school, and that was the best decision of my life. I grew from this angry, rebellious person to a sort of oddball person who was still growing, but no longer tried to alienate herself. Then, over the summer of senior year, I really grew into myself and transformed into the confident and girly person that I am now.
By the end of senior year, I was a completely different person - I was extremely involved, and I had a stellar group of friends.

My friend and I were supposed to go to college together, but at the last minute, she changed her mind and accepted to a different school. Not wanting to be directionless in college, or find myself friendless and alone, I signed up for Formal Recruitment.

More coming later tonight! Don't forget to give input for the code names!

Oops! Sorry! I'm such an idiot. I mean Fall Recruitment 2008!

lovespink88 05-03-2009 08:00 PM

Alright, I'm going to go with NFL teams first, and Disney Princesses as a second. Quite the opposite, I know, but I'm okay with it.

I think I'm going to like this story!

lavendarlace 05-03-2009 09:50 PM

I like the idea of Harry Potter characters, then maybe hockey teams because it's their playoffs! ;-)

Sooooo, ZetaGirl, I love your "Loved by a Zeta Psi"...I am tempted to steal your idea (but replace Zeta Psi, with Phi Psi!) Would that be okay if I decided to? :D

CougarGrad 05-04-2009 09:31 AM

Woo hoo! Bring it on, girlfriend!!

groovypq 05-04-2009 10:19 AM

NFL teams!!!!

Merci11 05-04-2009 05:52 PM

I'd say go with Spanish cities (because I've never seen it done before)

blondie20 05-04-2009 06:05 PM

I think I'm going to have to do NFL teams because Harry Potter people will definitely be hard to do and not give anything away.

And, as luck would have it, my school happens to have tiers. I think tiers are stupid and only the immature and status obsessed take them seriously, but I will post them because it can add to the story. And I think, for the story's sake, I'll correlate the tiers to NFL divisions. How clever! Any, to make it even more super, there are 16 sororities...which is divisible by 4...which means each NFL division can have its own tier. Hooray!!

Tier 1 : NFC North
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions*
Green Bay Packers
Minnesota Vikings

Tier 2: NFC East
Dallas Cowboys
New York Giants
Philadelphia Eagles
Washington Redskins

Tier 3: NFC West
Arizona Cardinals
San Francisco 49ers
Seattle Seahawks
St. Louis Rams*

Tier 4: NFC South
Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
New Orleans Saints
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

*Although this team had a disgraceful record this season, that does not correlate to the strength of the house.

Our recruitment works like this:

Open house: visit all 16
Philanthropy and house tours: visit 10
Skit night: visit 6
Pref: visit 3
Bid Day!

I'll post more later. Hope you stick around till then!

I've been around long enough to spot a trainwreck waiting to happen. People get all squicky when you start talking about tiers. But, I do hope it doesn't go that way.

blondie20 05-04-2009 06:17 PM

I didn't pay any attention to the tiers. I didn't even know about the tiers until well into first semester.

twinkle555 05-04-2009 07:29 PM

Yikes, tiers. Well, I guess Ill root for my birthplace team, Chicago Bears, and my hometown, Tampa Bay Bucs...

its funny that the Bears are the top tier top group and the Bucs are dead last..interesting lol. Please remember to be discrete (sp?) blondie!

33girl 05-04-2009 07:43 PM

NFC? SRSLY?

SydneyK 05-04-2009 08:44 PM

C'mon, OTW, I'm sure her roommate logged in and subsequently walked away from the computer, leaving babyblondie the opportunity to post under the wrong screen name. Happens all the time.

cvtip12 05-04-2009 08:49 PM

ah, the twists and turns =]

lovespink88 05-04-2009 08:59 PM

Oh, wow.

On a side note, she must really like football, what with one username including a team, and the other thread using football code names.

(PS I'm sad I didn't get to pick my "team" for real, but I'm going to say it anyways...DAAAAAAAA BEARS!)

sceniczip 05-04-2009 09:03 PM

I was all for giving you the benefit of the doubt but now this just makes me :eek::rolleyes:

You called it on this one AlphaFrog. In any case watching these two threads play out has added some entertainment to my finals week...

That's all.

Carry on.

Funny thing is, I hadn't even been reading eaglesbaby's thread. Something just smelled off from the get-go.

Maybe we need to get Denise Swanson (she's an ASA and writes the Scumble River Mystery Series) over here to write up some real recruitment fiction.:D

From stuffwhitepeoplelike.com

The show is set in 1960 and features meticulous art direction that strives to make the show as historically accurate as possible. This veracity makes the show especially vulnerable to one of white people’s favorite activities on earth: finding mistakes. And as is always the case with white people, the harder someone strives for accuracy, the happier a white person is to prove them wrong.
