Oh so confused.... so how about I was at a party at my friend Sandy's apartment after going down town for ALF, and well.... my friend who shall remain nameless, who is a boy... lol... he told me that if he didnt just get dumped by his girlfriend, he would have asked me out.... hmmm....

I dunno....

THEN, I was talking to the boy that made me mad last year (we kinda dated... whatever) at a party at his fraternity house.... and welll... whatever...

okay, so if you were talking to me, (about being hung over.....) Most people know thats the way I talk... you mainly cant understand what I say :)

The next one was, I think I like a boy who I semi-dated last year, and he was mean to me... (didnt break my heart like he seems to think, but was mean and therefore made me mad) and thats bad that I like him...

Every once in awhile I will watch alf on nick at night or whatever its on. That show is still one of the greatest

ALF - ain't nothing wrong with that. Honestly, that was one of the better shows on television until they dropped all sorts of 'social problems' on it - it fits the classic mold of sitcoms:

AT FIRST - very funny, good storylines, takes a while to get good (first few are weak then gets better)

NEXT - gets random, b/c normal humor routes stop working. (NOTE - simpsons is currently in this stage)

FINALLY - run totally out of ideas, and start to get into social issues, and usually really weird ones (ie abortion or running away rather than simple theft, drug use rather than not obeying curvew). . . anyone remember the last season of roseanne? freaking brutal.

BTW - what the hell was this thread originally about?

I caught an episode where he is enacting a skit of golden girls by himself:

Holy crap - that's a great episode . . . the golden girls sucked, terrible TV (and not one freakin muppet - what's a dude got to do to get puppets on quality TV shows? for real). I'd make fun of that ish if given the chance on national tv, too . . .

so I fail to see the connection here between boy? and ALF..i mean ALF is the shit..but where does the boy come in...? Don't tell me that all those nights watching ALF...he wasn't really an alien...if he was really a boy..i'm so done...

Maybe ALF represents the "Little Boy" in all of us . . . it would be just like the scene in the original Great Expectations movie where Miss Havisham is on fire, screaming and thrashing around - everyone KNOWS the symbolism, but it's just so obvious it becomes easy to overlook.

BTW - Great Expectations: terrible novel. I abhor the book. Any comments?

What do you think about the possiblity of Alf representing the guardian in the boy? Brian's Dreamcatcher.

See..it's hard to tell..I mean when you look at it...is it the personality of ALF representing the guardian in the boy, or is the personality of ALF represented by the boy, who may infact be the guardian of ALF? See...I think there is a much deaper meaning then the topic of this thread is letting on. BUT, there is definately a correlation between boy? and ALF, i think it will take a closer examination to find which represents which and how.

I liked alf because they had the dad that was totally serious and never joked around. Alf was the exact opposite of him so that was great. Another show like that which was good was the show Perfect Strangers.

Yall remember on the ALF episodes where he would stick his finger in a light socket or something and the camera would pan out and all youd see is alf flying across the room. Now thats comedy.

Here is everyones assignment for this weekend. Everyone get scuddered on cheap beer and we will all watch some re run of some two bit comedy sitcom from the 80's and Monday we will all report back here and compare notes. If some of you cant attend I will pick up the slack for you. No prior notice required.
