Summer plans...

What does everyone plan on doing this summer?

I am trying to get a job at the Department of Social Services and buying my first car.

LucyKKG 04-24-2009 02:48 AM

I'm going to Norway for 3 weeks a few days after I graduate. We have family over there and we do some tourist-type stuff. Then I'm going to be a Norwegian camp counselor back here in CA. Thennn my bf and I are going on a road trip to Chicago! We're planning on stopping at Kappa houses along the way if they're close. I know they might be empty, but I still want to take a picture in front of them and check out the campus. Haha I'm such a nerd.

Elephant Walk 04-24-2009 04:29 AM

Sitting at the lake house. That's about it.

a.e.B.O.T. 04-24-2009 05:04 AM

I plan to tack of advantage of the current economy and thus the challenge of not finding a job by taking the summer on for all possibility as I joy the magical life of being supported without any responsibility...

LaneSig 04-24-2009 08:17 AM

Pick up extra shifts at the restaurant when school lets out.

Renting a beach house on the Outer Banks with my brother's family. We'll be there for a week in July. I love OBX. Figuring out how I can move there permanently. :)

Leslie Anne 04-24-2009 08:46 AM

Decorate my second cousin's wedding.

Go to the wedding.

Take 2 summer courses.

Possibly go to Russia with my sister when she adopts a baby.

Relax at a health spa for a couple weeks.

Get ready for the fall semester.

KSigkid 04-24-2009 11:18 AM

Mostly working, with some law school stuff (TA position and major research paper) worked in. Three of my friends are getting married (two from college and one from law school), so I'll be going to their weddings as well.

Other than the weddings, I don't think I'll get much of a break this summer. I was hoping to get away for a few days for vacation, but that's probably not going to be feasible with my schedule. I'll just have to wait until after the bar exam in February.

AGDee 04-24-2009 11:44 AM

I am being a totally irresponsible Mom by taking two mini-vacations without my kids. I'm spending a weekend with DoctorD at a beach house for a single mom girls' weekend. I'm also going to spend a long weekend with friends who live in Albany, KY and have a houseboat on Dale Hollow Lake. A whole weekend of hanging out on a boat, swimming, fishing, and, what we call "unlaxing" because it's far beyond RElaxing in one of the most beautiful places on earth :) I am hoping to plan a long weekend with the kids too. My vacation time has been cut by two days so that is kind of limiting us. We may have to wait until February to go to my brother's condo in Gulf Shores, AL, but I do hope to take them there.

Where on the Outer Banks?

As for me, same thing I do the rest of the year. :o

Little32 04-24-2009 12:55 PM

Going to Canada in the early part, then Kentucky. Moving back home. Thinking about going to Barcelona with an ls, but I am not sure how that will work out.

take classes to play some catch up with math

run away for a week with the boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary

probably go to Michigan and visit boyfriend's family

visit my old roommate and friends at my first college

GammaPhi88 04-24-2009 03:02 PM

I have an internship with Senator John Kerry's D.C. office, so I should be doing that.

Besides that, I plan to visit my friends in Boston, spend some time at my friend's country house, and work a bit at my dad's office to make some extra money.

WOW congrats on that !

christiangirl 04-24-2009 04:34 PM

I'll have 2 summer classes, an internship, work, plus lots of traveling. Going to Cali twice (once for my best friend's wedding and once to see family), Atlanta twice (once for my BFF's grad party and once for a convention), and maybe OBX since it's so close (yet I've never been).

Basically, I will be doing what I do the rest of the year, but with a lot more beach thrown in :)

Wow! That was almost my exact summer last year (I just had only a little traveling)!

I don't want to jinx myself, so I won't get too much into it, but I've had two interviews for a PR internship, and they're making their hiring decision by next Thursday...So if all goes well... I'm keeping my fingers crossed til then! lol

If I don't get it, I still plan on working. Where exactly I'd work is a good question lol! But I figure I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Other than that, I don't have anything major planned!

KSUViolet06 04-24-2009 06:45 PM

Doing my 2nd Practicum at a mental health facility.

Being a bridesmaid in my sorority sister's wedding.

Attending 3 other sorority sister's weddings.

Going to see my dad in CA and going out to Vegas again.

Relaxing.

sceniczip 04-24-2009 06:51 PM

I'm taking two or three classes depending on if I like the reading list for the one lol. I'll also be working and hopefully showing. If my horse and I can ever get our act together  Other than that just relaxing and hanging out at the pool.

KunjaPrincess 04-24-2009 09:36 PM

Going to my parents house in Scotland for my Grandparents 60th Wedding anniversary in may (no husband, no kids so that's my vacation) then I leave for Ft Benning, GA in June. I'm going to be there for 2 months doing the Officer Basic Course then I go to Ft Jackson, SC in August for my branch training. I get back to Washington in October. All of this is alone so the hubby has to deal with the kids :)

Thetagirl218 04-24-2009 10:26 PM

Go to a local Advanced Placement Seminar for a week

Go to DC with my best friend for 4 days ( I have never been)

Go to my cousin's wedding!

Do some apartment searching!

Move into new apartment with best friend!

Celebrate the first summer I don't have to work since I was 15!

DolphinChicaDDD 04-25-2009 03:11 AM

Going back to the States for the summer.
Seeing friends in Atlanta, San Francisco, and possible Toronto.
Helping my mom with my brother's wedding.
Planning my own wedding.
Seeing friends I haven't seen in over a year.

JohnnyCash 04-25-2009 04:22 AM

I'm on this Greek Orientation Team for my school that basically presents at every freshman orientation and tells the incoming class to go greek.. That, and I'm a DM Morale Captain so I'll be spending a lot of time in school.

I don't think I'll be taking any classes though.

psychdesire 04-25-2009 04:25 AM

i forgot to say that I am taking an online course too... and still attempting to buy my first car.

Yea for y'all!!! I know y'all desire it.

I wanna come!;)

Otherwise I don't have any definite plans except for at least 2 June weddings. I think hubby and I are taking the last week in July for vacation.

And then August is the NEW AGD HOUSE AT WGa:D:D:cool:

Oh..and it also depends on if I get that job.

You are like my hero :) Please let met me know about how 2) and 7) go. Bad news, heard today that those departments are on a hiring freeze and I am hearing people state that working as an intern will leave you frustrated. Who knows what I will do now lol. I've applied to several places, but that is all really.

Hey...are you looking into Law School? As far as being a Chemical Dependency Counselor-I make double what I was making as a Caseworker for Children & Youth and its one of the BEST jobs I've ever done! If you get a chance to do it-DO IT! If you (or anyone else, for that matter) is looking for a job in the Medical Field or Chemical Dependency Field-move to Syracuse, NY! They have like 3-4 hospitals in a cluster and they all have great jobs. My boyfriend got hired at the one hospital in a job you don't even need a degree for (he is in college) and he makes great money-and he can work as many hours as he wants. PM me if you want any more information!!! GOOD LUCK psychdesire!!!

iamqueena 04-26-2009 10:57 AM

This summer I'm going to be in Los Angeles interning for 20th Century Fox. I'm very excited but I'm still trying to find a place to live which is exhausting.

In my free time, I'll be planning events and stuff for the fall semester.

nikki1920 04-26-2009 04:29 PM

Apparently, I'll be the transport for swim team for lilnikki this summer, since she's decided to join the local swim team. Gotta work on those college scholarship opprotunities!!

I was planning on moving to NY for grad school in a year, so hopefully this will still be open when I get there! Thanks again ! Good luck to you also!

KatieKate1244 04-26-2009 10:34 PM

The first part of the summer will be spent trying to get a promotion at work. The second part of the summer will be spent trying to find an apartment in a town whose main economy isn't a coal mine and a Dollar General. In between that, continue on learning Russian.

lovespink88 04-27-2009 11:51 PM

Well as of today I know what I'm doing...

I'm interning at AvantGaudy.com! It's a online vintage clothing store based out of Chicago. I'm going to be the Social Media Marketing/Public Relations Intern. I'm so so so excited!!!

One of my sisters is interning for Warner Brothers! Very neat opportunities. :)

I'm working at American Eagle- not the theatre job I hoped for, but it's a job.

There's a "higher up" from the CDC on another message board I frequent. He claims he would let his children play in a sewage treatment plant before a water park. Haven't been to once since!

My plans include
-taking specialized grooming lessons
-attending a "Bichon Bash" in Gettysburg
-two separate trips to DC
-trip to Denver for a Soccer Convention
-and fixing up my unlived-in house!
