i guess i can post my question in this thread.

i will be traveling to New York at the end of May for 4 days. hotels are extremely expensive. its not a business trip or anything, but i will be at the home office one day and touring the city the remaining days. a coworker told me to look on craigslist and find people who have put up advertisements to rent out extra rooms in their apartments or the entire place. has anyone here done this and is it safe? i have broused through some of them already and this will save me like $300 dollars.

^^^ If I were you, I'd make a comparable offer to SAE brothers in New York. True, there could be some psycho SAEs out there too, but there's an extra layer of trust there because you share the fraternity.
