Senusret I 04-11-2009 11:41 AM

Grad schools have chapters? That's rare.

Gusteau 04-11-2009 12:03 PM

I doubt she'll make it to grad school with such an infirm grasp on the English language...

This has to be a joke. If it isn't-I want to know what college or university you attend because you are making a mockery of the whole academic system. Please don't pledge until you learn how to read.

JohnnyCash 04-12-2009 12:49 PM

wow.

sinfonian19 04-12-2009 07:04 PM

I believe you should just do grad chapter. A college campus is comprised a group young adults many of which are trying to find themselves or young people who know who they are but are attempting to change. Many of these people pledge certain GLO's to assist in these efforts often times changing themselves for the worst. The org you're interested in at your school is potentially full of ladies that fit the description above. The org itself is more than likely a wonderful thing but that chapter just doesn't exemplify that. I would tell anyone to do grad oppose to dealing with a bunch of "children" high off themselves

Umm, wow, talk about an a-hole post. I love the "once you graduate college you are enlightened and have no ulterior motives" mentality. It's funnier than season 3 of Seinfeld.

And considering the OP comes off as oh-so-mature she probably wouldn't fit in with the "children"

Anyway, what do you even base such assumptions on?

sinfonian19 04-12-2009 11:35 PM

Maybe you guys don't understand my standpoint. I know of people at different schools who have tried to pledge different orgs and the chapters at the schools were full of bs. If the said org chapter at your school is indeed a good one and doesn't require you to go through any type of pre-hazing crap then fine do it. Because what it sounds like to me is the chapter at her school are merely a group of young ladies who require an unhealthy amount of appeasement which is the complete opposite of what a glo should be. Members of college frats and sororities should in my opinion be some of the most social people on campus oppose to the most intimidating and arrogant...

I wasn't calling ALL undergrads children but in the situation she presented (regardless of the grammatical errors) the chapter seems to be full of young misguided women...Now maybe you don't like the tone of my response but it holds true for many chapters of glo across the country

Could you please point out in the original post where she gave any examples of "young, misguided women" who act "intimidating and arrogant"? Because I'm not seeing any.

What I read was, "Mah sisters are da awfulest peeps in da world. They be playa hatin' fool. I wanna know if I should just peace out."

And to that, I refuse to give any advice.

I just took the thread for what it was-grammatically screwed but containing an honest inquiry. Can she type? well obviously not! Can she speak better than she types? who knows! But in spite of the chewed up version of English displayed in her post I believed that I understood what she was attempting to say and if my assumptions were correct then I stand on what I previously stated

She said
Quote:

i get u dont have to be nice and u want to see if im loyal but shit, it dont make no sense for their level of meanness! now we straight up awkward around each other.
now conceding the fact of her obvious mistakes, she is right (that is if she's telling the complete truth) about the unwarranted bitterness being directed towards someone who is interested in the org whether they want you in or not
If this is true then it IS childish. You need to be business minded at times when it comes to glo whether its social, service, or professional...
If you don't want someone you just simply don't vote for them and end it there oppose to being mean to them

Anybody else think this dude's a dead ringer for PIP?

sinfonian19 04-13-2009 02:01 AM

They're called opinions and it has become apparent to me that mine isn't too welcomed on this topic...I really don't see anything wrong with what I posted lol I mean should I have ridiculed her? Is that any more right than my intial response? But I digress...sites such as Greekchat.com are really enjoyable regardless of the _________ lol

It's not that your opinions aren't welcome. It's the fact that you completely bashed her chapter without knowing anything about it.

And quite frankly, her question wasn't, "What do you think of my chapter?" It was, "What should I do?"

You don't have to ridicule her. But I wouldn't give her advice knowing little to nothing about the situation... no matter what her typing/speaking skills are like.

sinfonian19 04-13-2009 05:30 AM

Honestly, I can only comment based on the information offered by the original poster
She basically said that the chapter was mean..very mean..so mean in fact that should couldn't make sense of it...Now maybe there is a reason why they are acting that way towards her, but she didn't list it so I'm not going to try to create a scenerio, circumstance not explained by the poster to justify the actions of the chapter...I told her to just go grad if the chapter is as bad as she say it is it makes nosense to not become apart of the org just because the silly actions of a chapter...I mean thats how I view it....if she's actually being accurate in her accounts

For what it's worth, I agree with you.

And I'm Senusret I, so it's worth a lot.

The OP is just one party in the entire situation. Rather than automatically taking her word for it, before commenting, one should try to see ALL sides of the issue. Have you ever thought that the OP is the immature one OR that she may be the cause of all the drama??

I would assume he has thought about that, since he said

You already posted this question, and KSUViolet06 gave you excellent advice. You'd be wise to follow it, especially as you have not been discrete with your location or situation.

knight_shadow 04-15-2009 11:04 PM

Mizzcutie -

There's no need to post the same question three times. Follow the link KSUViolet gave you.

ETA: What AOEforme said.

Reason I commented in the manner I did is because the situation she presented is believable. Not to sound sexist and dig myself into a bigger hole but behavior as such is especially common among women (sororities). And whats more if anyone who has been invovled with their campus student life couldn't be completely naive to this phenomenon. From my observations it doesn't matter if a young lady is an idiot or a physicist she will deal with bs if the young women in the org has something against her.......because I seriously doubt she speaks how she types
